Mid to high factor facial sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast - does it exist?

I've been using Bioderma Factor 50+ in the last few weeks and it's certainly doing its job - I've not had a hint of even the slightest pinkness. So hurray for that.

However, it does make me look a lot paler than usual. I have put foundation on top of it today but I still look like Casper the ghost despite blusher and lipgloss as well.

Can anybody recommend a sunscreen (factor 25 at least) to wear under moisturiser and makeup that doesn't make skin look white? I don't need it to be tinted, just not white!

Thanks

p20, factor 50, clear, and it lasts all day!

Lottapianos · 26/07/2013 15:12

Ooh splendid! Is it suitable for sensitive skin and eyes? And does it come in lower SPFs as well?

No7

been using it for about a month and no complaints so far. and has also helped with uneven skin tone
They do a 50+ aswell. Get a tester. the boots i went to were low on tester pots, so maybe take a pot yourself and ask if youre able to have a test. the amount they gave lasted me a week.

Clarins UV Plus SPF 40 - very thin texture, almost watery, so doesn't leave a white cast and goes a long way (good as it's £££). Seems to be effective as I haven't got a red nose yet!

Lottapianos · 26/07/2013 15:15

Sounds good iloveweetos and very much liking the price!

me too!! I was orginally going to try eucerin spf but its £23!!! maybe will try that when i feel a little rich! lol

iloveweetos · 26/07/2013 15:31

ooo and nearly forgot! Boots often have £5 off vouchers for no7 so dont buy until you have that!

missbopeep · 26/07/2013 15:34

I swear by Clinique City Block spf 40 - it's slightly tinted and I use under foundation which gives me slightly more coverage and acts as a primer.

missbopeep · 26/07/2013 15:36

Iloveweetos sorry but disagree a bit. I got the No 7 one with my £5 voucher and do find it slightly white. I use it mainly on my neck and cleavage though- prefer not to use City Block there as it's tinted and can mark clothing.

iloveweetos · 26/07/2013 16:07

I dont find it white, and im a fair asian... different things work for different people
kinda funny i found the clinique city block white for me. It must react differently to different people

iloveweetos · 26/07/2013 16:08

lol @repeating myself. trying to multitask Hmm

EasterHoliday · 26/07/2013 16:13

shiseido factor 50 for the face. Recommended by a ghostly white chum, and it's absolutely brilliant

Vibbe · 26/07/2013 16:27

Clinique City Block. I have the spf25, as spf40 apparently isn't available where I live. But it's tinted and doesn't leave a white cast. It's absolutely brilliant for my skin.

I've used La Roche-Posay Anthelios AC for oily and acne-prone skin and it leave a white residue (which will rub off on whatever touches it) and makes the skin look greasy. I got loads of spots from it as well. It's supposed to be mattifying...

Chanel has one with SPF50 which looks light blue on the skin. It goes for both me with fair skin and my DH who has an olive toned skin. The colour is similar to the one old ladies used to colour their hair...

FamiliesShareGerms · 26/07/2013 16:30

Another vote for Clinique City Block. On very good days I can even get away with just that over moisturiser and concealer (I have rubbish skin)

bloomingheather · 26/07/2013 16:36

I have been using La Roche Posay Anthelios AC SPF 30 and really like it. It is a fluid and gives a matte finish, so is good for oily or acne prone skin ( although my skin is more combination and can be quite dru in patches and it's been fine so far). It's also paraben free and water resistant. I find that as long as I take care to rub it in properly, it doesn't leave white residue and I really like that it's so light - it doesn't make my skin feel greasy at all and seems to be a good base for make up. I have read some reviews saying that it did leave a white residue for some, but i haven't found that. It's £11.62 at Boots online - will try to link : Boots.

bloomingheather · 26/07/2013 16:41

Ah, I've cross-posted with Vibbe and contradicted what you said! I haven't experienced the white residue and I find my skin doesn't look greasy, but these things can be so different to different people it seems (I"ll get my holiday pics back and realise I've been wandering around like Casper the ghost now Smile.

EarlyIntheMorning · 26/07/2013 17:06

My experience of La Roche Posay Anthelios is awful. I covet Clinique City Block and SunSense SPF 50+ which is also UVA 4* rated. I am not sure about Clinique's UVA rating. Mustn't forget that it's the UVA rays that make you wrinkly!!!

Vibbe · 26/07/2013 17:06

bloomingheather it may just be my bottle that's not right. I got my DH to try the sun cream too, and it was just as bad on him. It was awful on my face, but when testing it on my arm, it never seemed to dry down on there either.

I've used quite a few sun creams through my time, and this one's the worst one.

KosherBacon · 26/07/2013 17:07

Biore milk spf50. It's the one in a white bottle and I've only found it on eBay. It is almost a powder dry finish rather than a creamy based product.

Brices · 26/07/2013 17:14

For UVA & UVB sunblock I find micronized zinc oxide does not give white look. Obagi complete SPF 50 good but £££, best budget Devita on eBay about £20 does the job.

MrsBertMacklin · 26/07/2013 17:23

I vote for the No. 7 one linked to by iloveweetos, I'm fair-medium skinned and have been using it under make - up for the last couple of months, it's really nice.

MrsEricBana · 26/07/2013 17:30

Boots Soltan Factor 50 Facial stuff good too.

thedicewoman · 27/07/2013 11:47

p20 comes in factor 10 to 50 and is suitablefor sensitive skin, mine is very sensitive and it works a treat, also works on the kids skin which is brilliant

Lottapianos · 27/07/2013 14:42

Thanks all, lots to choose from Smile
