I wear shorts, as I don't like Vpl and other styles of pant tend to either wander to the left or right or retreat up my bum.

I quite fancy small pretty pants though. What should I buy at a reasonable cost that will actually want to stay on my bum?

Or do I stick to big pants?

M and s Brazilian are fantastic under trousers but I find they fall down when worn under a skirt...

motherinferior · 14/07/2013 11:37

I might be tempted by those Brazilian ones. I regret to say that my most enduringly comfortable pants are M&S HUGE ones. Enormous ones that offer bliss but at a severe cost.

Oh, it is frequently too hot for knickers Smile

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 14/07/2013 14:32

M&S shorty Brazilian things work fine IMO and are affordable enough that you could get 3 assorted styles as one of their multi buys to find out what works for you.

missbopeep · 14/07/2013 16:09

I can't cope with fancy knickers. M&S brazillians are some of the worst I've had- they migrate to bum cleavage in seconds.
I prefer their bog standard bikini briefs, pack of 5 £12- 95% cotton and a bit of elastyn.

HoneyDragon · 14/07/2013 16:11

I've ordered Gap ones as they have 25% off 3 or more pairs and a further 20% of your whole order if you use GAPSTYLE.

I shall report back my findings.

Well the Gap ones arrived. I am very impressed. I purchased two bras as well, one strapless which were excellent.

The knickers fit well. No likely hood of wedgies. One fancy pair I bought to match a bra felt like they would, but tried them under a pair of jeggings and they didn't budge.

It's a start, we will see how they go Smile

HoneyDragon which Gap ones did you go with????

HoneyDragon · 16/07/2013 21:15

I got a mix. But for basic I got the bikini and shorts.

They say low rise and they are, but they sit nice and high on the bum iyswim?

RandomMess · 16/07/2013 21:48

Think so, ordered some shorts to try Smile

BornToFolk · 16/07/2013 21:53

Gap ones are good! I like the "low rise hipster" style. (I agree HoneyDragon - good arse coverage!)

I don't find they last long though, I've had a few go a bit thin and holey..

HoneyDragon · 16/07/2013 22:03

BornTo

I'm finding most don't last now.

I used to SWEAR by Jockeys. I've got a couple of pairs that must be well over 10 years old. But ones I've bought in recent years, the elastic is showing after about five minutes.

I have quite a few pairs of Gap knickers that have lasted more than 3 years (measuring by birth of babies, that tells you how often I go pant shopping!) and even more amazing, don't look old or shabby yet. They are plain boy shorts or bikini style ones though, not frilly or lacy so that helps I think.

HoneyDragon · 17/07/2013 00:00

Well they are vastly better than ones I looked at in m&S and cheaper.

Also, the stitching is better.

I must say thank you LadyBigToes, Gap is not somewhere I'd have thought to look for pants. I'm glad you posted.

Sorry to hijack but Dingbats did you see the other reviews by the same poster? Hmm each to their own I suppose....(glad DH is bigger than me and my DSis, so no chance of knicker sharing...!!)

missbopeep · 17/07/2013 08:52

Have just bought some J Lewis Bikini knickers- 5 for £10- and the cotton is much softer- it's pima cotton- than M&S equivalent.

50ShadesOfMaybe · 17/07/2013 10:19

SoTired I had a friend once who quite often went commando - with trousers, skirts, whatever. I was a bit Hmm about the cleanliness aspect, but she was adamant that it wasn't a problem.

She did, however, admit she once left the Ladies thinking she'd done up her trousers properly only to find them half-way to her knees in full view of half-a-dozen people!

BornToFolk · 17/07/2013 10:50

Hmmm, maybe Gap's standards have declined as mine are less than 3 years old and looking very shabby! I'm still wearing them though as they are so comfy Blush

The best pants I ever had were from American Eagle. I bought them in the US years ago and as soon as I got home regretted not buying more.

daimbardiva · 17/07/2013 11:13

The M&S brazilians are great - I was highly sceptical too, as I'd had brazilian style ones before that were so uncomfortable and had been bum-munched within seconds of wearing, but these ones are a different kettle of fish altogether.

HoneyDragon · 17/07/2013 11:49

I'm happy with 3 years. Some of my Haynes ones are less than a year old and falling apart and were £8 each!

RandomMess · 19/07/2013 12:15

am wearing gap boy shorts and they feel very loose and are creeping up a bit - should I have got the smaller size???

ygritte · 19/07/2013 20:55

Freya Arabella briefs are lovely but pricey. They are full coverage and stay put.....not like the shorts.
For everyday I wear the m & s ones too but made a mistake and bought a different style once. The lace bandeau ones behave differently and are much better than others.

Highlander · 19/07/2013 21:47

What I hateis that knickers are based on hip size, not length of bum.

I'm a 12 with a long bum. If I buy 14, they're massive.

I long for knickers tht don't ride up my arse :(
