Is there a facial sunscreen/product with spf that doesnt cause spots? The ones I've used have made a mess of my skin and I'm fed up!

I have Ultrasun Face SPF30 and an Elizabeth Arden SPF 50 face cream, and both have brought me out in spots. Not massive cystic ones, not even really red ones, but tiny little ones just just under the skin that I can kind of squeeze a little bit of white pus out of. Sorry, grim I know. It's like whenever I use a facial sunscreen it stops my skin breathing and congests it, this always seems to happen! And it makes me so angry as its only because I'm trying to look after my skin that I'm using the sunscreen anyway!

I have slathered on Effaclar Duo to hopefully help my mess of a face but has anyone found a facial sunscreen that is any good? Is the La Roche Posay one good?

I'm 25 and know that SPF is the best thing I can do to look after my skin long term but if every sunscreen is going to give me such crappy skin and make me feel like a teenager again I will ditch the SPF and risk the wrinkles

I am a spotty creature by nature and I use La Roche Posay Anthelios 50, tinted, the fluid one for combination. It has been fine, no spots. I use it lots. Great sunscreen.

My friend is a bit oilier of skin than me and also a bit obsessive about skin care. I think she found the Chanel SPF one (sorry can't rem the name), and another one called Green Lizard (I think) to be very unlikely to cause spots. She went thru all the ingredients and checked how comedogenic they were. I tried the Chanel one, didn't like the smell, otherwise fine.

I just googled, it's not Green Lizard, it's called Blue Lizard.

Lurkingaround thank you, that is great to here that the La Roche Posay one has been good for you, I will give it a go then. Am impressed with La Roche Posay and their prices are so good too.

I love LRP for everything. I don't like their foundation colours but I love everything else. The Efaclar range is great for oily skin.

I don't really have oily skin as such but I seem to get occasional outbreaks, sometimes hormonal but I definitely think some products have caused it too, in particular the sunscreens I mentioned and my bare minerals makeup primer, bloody horrible stuff. I can live without primer but I really want to use SPF and look after my skin!

I love the Effaclar Duo though, it's bit drying but it's the best thing I've found for clearing up spots.

LRP Anthelios hasn't been good for me, got spots, stickiness and it's not good under make up. I only use it on my arms now, and it leaves a horrible white sheen everywhere.

I started using Sunsense about a week ago and so far I am delighted.

I've been using sunsense for about 2 years and I've had no more spots than I used to before I started (a couple on the chin each month).

I have Dermalogica SPF tinted moisturiser which is excellent. Kiehls also great. Everything else makes me break out.

I have oily skin and use Clinique City Block. It has a nice texture that sits on top of your skin rather than making it greasy.

la roche posay gave me incredible spots!

I quite like La Roche Posay, but it does leave a white film and gives me a few spots (less than most high street brands). Sunsense doesn't give me spots at all, but I am ultra pale, and it is tinted, so it does leave me with a teenager who has overdone the foundation look a little.

I really like Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser (no spots!), but its only SPF 25, so really just a winter option (for me anyway).

Sometimes it's the high SPF that causes it, spf 50 brings me out in them but SPF 40 doesn't.

A second vote for City Block. Oil free and light, feels like a soft blanket on my skin. I really want to like Anthelios as I love LRP but it gives me instantaneous spots.

LRP Anthelios manages to make me look both chalky and greasy at the same time. I have good skin and it makes me look dreadful The Clarins SPF 40 stuff is great.

I use this which is a facial spf BUT pretty much like a foundation, and I have ordered the face powder, which also has spf 50, to wear on top.

I have oily combo skin, and so far no spots as a result of using this. Remember though to really really REALLY cleanse your skin before bed, to get rid of it (applies to whatever you use).

DD aged nearly 15, who suffers from dry skin and some eczma (sp)? also gets on well with it, and she reacts to EVERYTHING!

Piz buin allergy face? I use this with no problem.

LRP Anthelios SPRAY is excellent. I've tried them all...even the Anthelios cream makes me break out but the spray is my holy-grail product. I use it under makeup or alone on clean, dry skin. It's fabulous and lasts for ages if you just use it for your face and neck (I use a cheapie for the rest of me)

Devita sunscreen contains zink which is a physical block rather than a chemical block like most sunscreens. Also leaves no white cast SPF 30.

I use Clarins Ecran Multi-Protection Day Screen SPF 40, goes on a bit chalky but then disappears into the skin, I haven't had any problems with it.
