Much as I'd love to splash out on something pricey and lush I can't afford it - any ideas?

Oh, and I've done OCM and loved it but it's too drying for me to use other than as an occasional facial.

This is great. Been using it for ages and I will never use anything else.

PenelopePipPop · 17/06/2013 17:29

Haven't tried La Roche Posay but heard good things, the Avene alternative would be this. Have same issue as you - sensitive skin gets pricey since you have to keep chucking stuff which causes a reaction. I'm impressed with Avene because the stuff which says it is gentle really seems to be gentle. Also the bottles of cleanser last forever.

MrsLettuce · 17/06/2013 19:47

Thank you both! I though I'd replied already but apparently not Hmm

Well, anyway, despite frantic and thorough googling it seems I can't get either of those where I am (non-UK) - various places stock parts of both ranges but none have the specific products [grr]

Anyone used Clinique Comforting Cream Cleanser?

The reviews of the Clinique Cream stuff seem really rather good but it's definitely the top end of the budget.

Suppose I should mention that I don't (can't Envy ) wear foundation and remove my eye makeup before I cleanse - not after something to deal with any of that.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish is fabulous and good value too.

californiaburrito · 17/06/2013 20:14

Can you get Cetaphil? Nicer than the Clinque stuff IMO and very cheap- a small bottle lasts me about 6 months.

hugoagogo · 17/06/2013 20:15

I just use almond oil and this thingie

MrsLettuce · 17/06/2013 20:15

Is that the hot muslin one? Can't do heat at all and a muslin not more than occasionally, unfortunately. But thanks!

Avene Cold Cream cleanser.
Huge tube as well.
La Roche Posay Toleriane.

ouryve · 17/06/2013 20:16

I buy the clinique comforting cream cleanser. It seems pricey, but a tube lasts me ages - about 9 months.

MrsLettuce · 17/06/2013 20:16

x posts - shall check link / google

ouryve · 17/06/2013 20:17

Oh - and I don't wear make up. But I do moisturise and it helps to remove any residue.

coffeeinbed · 17/06/2013 20:20

Fuck, I just looked it up and I have been happily using body cleanser on my face.
OP, please please ignore my Avene suggestion.
Blush
Having said that, I will continue to use it.
Hasn't done me bad and I have a very temperamental skin.

PicklePants · 17/06/2013 20:20

I don't know how good it is for sensitive skin but I use Philosophy's Purity Made Simple and it's lovely - I love washing my face with it! Grin

Badvoc · 17/06/2013 20:21

Liz earle

DeathByTray · 17/06/2013 20:21

I know you will probably think that soap is a no-no but, seriously, I have very, very sensitive skin. I can't use even hypoallergenic ranges but I have not looked back since I discovered Dead Sea Natural Mineral Soap.

It's cheap, long lasting and removes every trace of make-up. Also ideal for use in bath and shower.

Maybe worth a try before you splash out on something more expensive?

hugoagogo · 17/06/2013 20:23

Hot muslin not needed: I just use the little silicone thing, but not every time and then wipe my face with damp cotton wool or a clean flannel.

fuzzywuzzy · 17/06/2013 20:24

Angels on bare skin from Lush not that pricey and works beautifully, go and ask for a free sample before buying a full sized one to test it on your skin.

MrsLettuce · 17/06/2013 20:27

The mit would work for me hudo. My damned skin goes all eczema ridden with friction.

This Avene stuff coffee? and this La Roche Posay?

ouryve - is it good? The other products have postage costs but this doesn't. Bumps the price up but the Avene stuff (if it's the right one) is a massive bottle.

I think we have Lush, are their products not very highly scented. Usually try to avoid perfumed stuff.

Shall now investigate the Liz Earl stuff...
mmm

Dead sea soap you say. Will look into that too...

Nivea Gentle Cleansing Cream Wash. Lifesaver!

coffeeinbed · 17/06/2013 20:41

It;s the Physiological Cleansing Gel from LRP
and this
www.avene.co.uk/Cold-Cream-Ultra-Rich-cleansing-gel

which to my eternal shame turns out to be a body cleanser.
Bugger, I'm cheap.

MrsLettuce · 17/06/2013 20:49

Heehee, well, if it's any consolation I'd even happily use arse-wash on my face if that was the best thing for the job. Don't change if ti's working for you!

Coffeeinbed it says 'face and body' in the blurb, don't worry Grin
