Much as I'd love to splash out on something pricey and lush I can't afford it - any ideas?

Well, I did briefly wonder about the size of the tube..
It's good stuff, I'll keep using it.
Love a bargain.

I'm googling myself dizzy! Wish there was a definitive answer / damned safe bet.

I have dry and sensitive skin but have found that just using coconut oil and removing with a hot cloth is the best cleanser. And it's dead cheap.

ouryve · 17/06/2013 21:38

It's really good. I've had compliments on my "lovely clear skin" and I'm 43, perimenopausal and constantly knackered.

MrsLettuce · 17/06/2013 21:38

Yes, I've used the oil cleansing method but even with avocado oil it's too drying for me to do often, the friction from the muslin makes my eczema flare and the heat is awful for the fine, broken veins I have.
Did make my skin lovely nad clean though!

ooh. ooh. ooh. Thank you! I must admit I do fancy that one. Still not sure.

Anyone tried the wash off cleansing oils?

The Avene gel cleanser for blemish prone skin which I have also used and which is also fine for my sensitive skin if you can get hold of it says can be used as a body wash.

By that logic I'd use the body wash as a face wash...

lizandlulu · 17/06/2013 21:58

I have very dry sensitive skin in winter and used the Clinique comforting cleanser, it didn't dry my skin out at all and was lovely to use

Hobbes8 · 17/06/2013 21:58

Ultra bland from Lush is nice. Bit greasy for my combination skin but might work for you.

TigerseyeMum · 17/06/2013 23:32

I'd recommend dermalogica's cleanser for very dry skin, or Neals Yard sensitive range or their rose facial oil cleanser, or Ren's sensitive skin range (they do a cleanser like the NYR one).

My friend has had success with the No7 gentle cleanser but I think it may have fragrance.

Dermalogica worked for me when my skin got so sensitised it fell off like it was burned. You can get samples from salons.

Don't be out off by price - I find these ranges cost more but last much longer.

Trying to remember the name of the cream - they also do a soap- which I used during cancer treatment as skin got fragile. Moisturiser is either rubbed into skin and/or rinsed off with water, soap works like regular soap but very gentle, and it's not at all expensive - name's just out of reach.....

Trilogy Very Gentle Cleansing Cream. You can get it at lovelula.com or lookfantasti.com. Also, at bodykind.com I think.
Here's the blurb:
www.trilogyproducts.com/products/very-gentle-cleansing-cream/
You'll see a link to the ingredients too..

Meant to say that I wet my face, gently rub a little in and remove with damp cotton wool. It lasts ages! And you can use it on your eyes (I know that's not important for you but it's handy so I thought I'd mention it) Smile

Knew I knew the name! Aqueous Cream, as cream moisturiser or soap, both excellent and easily available next to E45 creams.

Scarletohello · 18/06/2013 10:42

Does anyone know if OCM is good for sensitive skins, seems like its great for oily skin but what about dry skin ? Anyone tried it?

valiumredhead · 18/06/2013 12:46

Aloe cleanser NOT the face wash from The Body Shop -slap it on and remover with a warm muslin cloth.

Amazinggg · 18/06/2013 13:08

I currently use the Avene gentle gel cleanser for £11.50 which is good, and lasts ages too. Slightly better version of same thing is Dermalogica Ultracalming cleanser .More than twice the price at £26 and doesn't have a pump, which annoys me, but you can buy huge salon size of it that does have a pump.

If you can stretch to Shu Uemura cleansing oils they are the absolute best skincare product ever. Feel so soothing on the skin, clean it thoroughly and leave it soft. But £60 is a bit too £££ for me atm Sad

Deathwatchbeetle · 19/06/2013 13:01

How about Superdrug Vitamin E wash off cream? I do like it.

Not sure how well it cleans off make up -especially eye make up. I normally use a separate one.

NigellasGuest · 19/06/2013 15:03

I use Emma Hardie beauty balm - I'm on my 4th pot I love it that much and that's unprescedented for me! I don't use their recommended muslin cloth, I use baby flannels from primark. I bought 10 from ebay (i think they were sold as from primark, they were cheap, anyway) so I always have a clean one to hand. Baby flannels are reallly really soft so you don't get that abrasive towelling feeling. I think they're made from a fleecy material. The emma Hardie balm is brilliant. I've nearly finished my tube of Clarins extra comfort or whatever it is (mentioned upthread) and that's nice but Emma Hardie knocks spots off it.

Missbopeep · 19/06/2013 20:59

I think 'washing off' and ' very dry skin' are mutually exclusive.

Most water is drying on the skin especially hard water.

I can't use a wash off cleanser. I use a really light cleansing lotion- L'Oreal Age perfect- or Clinique Cream is nice but expensive, then just wipe off excess with a damp cotton pad.

If you want a really really gentle cream or milky cleanser, look at the Avene range.

ManAliveThisThingsFantastic · 19/06/2013 21:08

I use the Angelica range from loccitane and works well for me on my sensitive skin.
