I've just bought these sandals. They're really comfortable and I think they're okay to look at. They aren't super stylish, but neither am I. I have no ambition to be cutting-edge fashionable, but I don't want to stray into 'super frump' territory. So... How ugly are they?? DH says they're awful Sad.

I actually rather like them. I think with a pair of capris or even skinnies they'll look rather retro.

I am current sporting the Clarks Smart Deva in white which I was initially concerned would be a Margot from the Good Life risk, but I've had nothing but "ooh where'd you get them" comments (in a good way)

I think they are ok. I had some very similar a few years back. If you want an edgier pair how about fly london yoda sandals? If you have narrowish feet they are very comfy. I have some bought two summers ago and still love them. I want the teal edged ones as well. Look on amazon.

emsyj · 12/06/2013 18:02

I looked up the Fly London Yoda sandals - yuk!! (Sorry) Grin I think they're super ugly, which probably means that I am very out of style. I have super wide feet so I don't think they would be a good fit for me anyway. I don't much like the Top Shop clogs linked to either, although I could see that they would be very versatile... I'm clearly destined to remain middle-of-the-road on the borders of Frumptown.

I like the Smart Deva ones TSSDNCOP! I had a pair of smartish patent leather sandals that were vaguely similar in an aubergine colour from Carvela a couple of years ago, I wore them to death and always wished I had bought more pairs in other colours. I am on maternity leave this summer but I could see those coming in handy for summer at work next year...

I really like them.

Yonihadtoask · 12/06/2013 18:11

I like them too. I rarely wear heels, but when I do they need to be comfy.

Might go and try some on .

PenelopePortrait · 12/06/2013 18:31

emsyj I've got these in tan, I wear them a lot. I may not be cutting edge of fashion but I'm certainly not frumpy.

I love Clarks, will be heading off there today to their sale Smile

SnookyPooky · 12/06/2013 18:48

I laughed at budgieshell, pole dancing shoes and underwear on show.
Personally I don't like them. My Mum would, she is 66 and goes for comfort over style.

emsyj · 12/06/2013 18:55

Were they available in tan in a past season Penelope? I wanted tan but they don't seem to come in tan any more Sad.

I like these flat patent pumps with the strap too... Want those for work. They remind me of those shoes that you used to get when I was little that had a strap that was on a sort of swivel pin thing so that you could do it up and then sling it back and have a slip-on look! I wanted a pair like that but was always told my feet were too wide and I had to have a T-bar Sad. These days of course, I can't get enough T-bars!

i really like them.i have seen far far frumpier shoes then those.(I do not think they are frumpy by the way!)

Tanyaaah · 12/06/2013 19:59

These are nicer!

Tanyaaah · 12/06/2013 20:00

I LOVE yellow shoes though.

Soditall · 12/06/2013 20:08

Sorry but I think they look really frumpy.

They're the kind of shoes I could imagine my mum wearing.

WherewasHonahLee · 12/06/2013 20:18

There are many sandals of beauty on the Dune website. I'm fine with high heels - are wedges easy to wear, or will I kill myself in them?

emsyj · 12/06/2013 20:27

My mum exclusively wears Gabor and Rhode shoes - super frumpy. But then she is 74... She is quite interested in 'trendy' clothes and in general has fairly decent taste in that area, but just cannot bear to have sore feet. I have quite a lot of sympathy with that tbh. I am happy to wear uncomfortable but gorgeous shoes for an evening out, but not for running around during the day.

IME wedges are comfortable - I haven't owned many, but I have worn a pair of Carvela cork wedges again and again and again including for long walks and they were super comfy. Go for the wedges Wherewas!

emsyj Wery tempted! Only slight problem being that DP says he doesn't like them. Maybe, just for once, I'll just ignore that. I'll take a look at Carvela - thanks for the tip.

PS WTF is this!

emsyj · 12/06/2013 21:22

Shock Shock Shock

These are the exact wedges I had Wherewas - from years ago, but they were super comfy and amazing. ebay

If they were my size I would buy them!!!

Notcontent · 12/06/2013 21:48

I consider myself to be quite fashionable and I like them. They are not amazing but quite nice.

hollyisalovelyname · 12/06/2013 22:14

Emsuj before I went to the link I guessed they were the sandals you were talking about. I wore similar as a child but hate them on adults. Sooo frumpy.

emsyj · 12/06/2013 22:16

You wore heeled wedge sandals as a child?? Shock I would never have been allowed. Envy

ClartyCarol · 12/06/2013 22:35

What do you think of the Bone colour OP? Think I prefer that to the dark brown, but tbh I think either way they only work if you're wearing cool clothes and have nice tanned feet and a pedicure. Otherwise I do think they are a bit frumpy. Sorry to be blunt.

hollyisalovelyname · 13/06/2013 01:01

Sorry i thought they were the flat shoes belonging to the disliked teacher

Iwantmybed · 13/06/2013 16:04

My Nana has a pair similar. But I tried to look nice yesterday in a pair of lovely platform wedges and went arse over tit on the school run Blush scraped my knee and slightly sprained my ankle so clearly don't listen to me.
