Are these trousers grotesque?

Here

I'm not usually one for 'fashions' but I know that printed trousers are everywhere at the moment and this pair are the missing piece from my wardrobe. They match practically every top I own.

I tried them on last week and they were soooo comfy but I didn't want to buy on impulse so I went back to buy them today.

Anyway, DH hates them! He says I look like a clown and that I made them myself out of my in-laws curtains from the 80s Sad Angry

Is he right? He usually isn't when it comes to matters of style but he has me doubting myself this time.

I'm with your DH, sorry but I think they're vile.

But if you like them wear them!

TheRealFellatio · 30/05/2013 18:46

Depends. Are you a six foot size 8 22 year old? If not then yes.

And if you are over 40 you will look like an escapee from a psychiatric hospital in your pajamas.

ellesabe · 30/05/2013 18:48

Ha ha!

Yes I probably should have said... I'm 30yo and a size 12

There's nobody wearing those trousers in that photo, and yet they give the imaginary model thunder thighs and I can DEFINITELY picture them doing a larger than size 6 arse no favours.

Plus, they just ming, really, really badly.

Exhaustipated · 30/05/2013 18:50

Yes. Sorry.

Ujjayi · 30/05/2013 18:50

Age and size-wise, patterned trousers will look great on you. However that particular pair are not nice, tbh.

TheAccidentalExhibitionist · 30/05/2013 18:54

Blurgghh, those are so unflattering and just plain nasty, sorry.

AltogetherAndrews · 30/05/2013 18:55

I picture them on an elderly overweight American tourist. The type that wears a sun visor and sensible shoes. No.

ellesabe · 30/05/2013 18:56

Oh bummer. They do look nicer in the flesh but maybe I'll just keep them as beach-wear.

And there I was thinking you were all going to tell me that they're nice Blush

Yikes no. Strong print + cheap fabric + cheap cut is a diasaster, sorry. If you really want some print trousers get yourself to Zara at the very least, and buy something that has buttons and a zip!

Wiggy29 · 30/05/2013 19:22

Love idea of printed trousers& am almost same age/size as you. Sadly, I'm with the others on the print though, defo not the nicest cut or pattern I've seen. Maybe try Zara or m&s limited collection?

flanbase · 30/05/2013 19:23

Would look good with a black top & cardi & matching colour shoes

QueenOfCats · 30/05/2013 19:26

I really like those Blush

ellesabe · 30/05/2013 19:48

Okay, flanbase and queenie have given me a vague sense of hope!
I have tried to put a photo on my profile (not sure if it worked though as I'm on my iPod.

If people still think they ming, I shall return them. Begrudgingly.

OP posts:
WeAreSix · 30/05/2013 19:57

They don't look too bad in your picture, but I wouldn't wear them, sorry! My vote is return them.

CajaDeLaMemoria · 30/05/2013 19:59

No, they are horrid.

Honestly, return them and you'll find something you love much more, that makes you look amazing.

These couldn't make anyone look amazing. They are channeling overweight tourist, not chic style.

Snowgirl1 · 30/05/2013 20:31

I quite like patterned trousers (although I haven't been brave enough to buy any yet), but I'm afraid I don't like the pattern on those ones - sorry!

highwindows · 30/05/2013 20:53

They are MUCH nicer in the flesh. The pictures on their website make them look awful. I have the black and white ones! Am also size 12 and early 30s. I never shop at Peacocks, and hardly ever wear trousers so I'm not sure what came over me but I was killing time, and I found myself in the changing room with a pair which are surprisingly flattering. I wasn't going for timeless elegance but relaxed/casual, maybe a bit quirky, and they fit the bill.

WuzzleMonkey · 30/05/2013 22:21

They still ming.

You have a lovely figure, seriously, get something that does you justice.

RollerCola · 30/05/2013 22:59

I feel for you op, I also want some patterned trousers (in particular tartan, yes I know) but don't want to run the risk of squeals of hysteria from the rest of my family when I emerge from my bedroom with them on.

So I'm just sticking to my skinnies for now cos I'm chicken, but if anyone can link to any acceptable patterned trousers that'd be just great?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/05/2013 23:01

Hideous. I think most trousers like that are v unflattering too tbh. Sorry.

SundaySimmons · 31/05/2013 01:18

I don't like them. But I did buy some patterned trousers from matalan last year that do look nice.

RollerCola · 31/05/2013 07:43

Zara printed trousers

Are these acceptable in anyone's world?

Prawntoast · 31/05/2013 07:46

The Zara ones are a better cut and nicer material but I wouldn't wear them unless I was very skinny, I'm not!
