Are these trousers grotesque?

Here

I'm not usually one for 'fashions' but I know that printed trousers are everywhere at the moment and this pair are the missing piece from my wardrobe. They match practically every top I own.

I tried them on last week and they were soooo comfy but I didn't want to buy on impulse so I went back to buy them today.

Anyway, DH hates them! He says I look like a clown and that I made them myself out of my in-laws curtains from the 80s Sad Angry

Is he right? He usually isn't when it comes to matters of style but he has me doubting myself this time.

Are you making us choose for you? 'Cos I'd have to say the mid-blue colour on the right. They remind me of the 'dead-grandad' PJ trousers I coveted whilst PG with DD

SoTiredAgain · 31/05/2013 08:36

I don't think they are grotesque. They are hideous. Grin

Seriously, I just don't get the patterned trousers trend. I have not seen anybody in real life that the style looks good on.

xTillyx · 31/05/2013 08:39

Just looked at your pic, they're not my style but I don't think they're as bad as others have said. They are slightly pj like, but I think most patterned trousers are.

It sounds like you are happy with them and its a sunny day today so wear them! X

Cassiphone · 31/05/2013 09:16

They're just not flattering. Sorry. I think they make you look bigger than you are. And I hate the pattern, it looks like 1970s upholstery fabric.

Patterns should go on the skinniest bit, I think, therefore patterned trousers belong on figures that resemble adolescent boys (not 99% of the female population in other words!).

50ShadesOfMaybe · 31/05/2013 09:44

Another No vote here.

I am strangely drawn to the idea of printed trousers (even tartan as Roller mentions) it's just that whenever I try them on, I don't like them.

GobblersKnob · 31/05/2013 10:02

I think they look loads better on you than in the pic :)

I love the whole pattern thing going on, but personally think patterened leggings are easier to pull off.

These were really nice though, just sadly too short for me, (am 5'10" though).

DrGoogleWillSeeYouNow · 31/05/2013 10:13

They are minging, sorry.

I think if you're going to buy something as dodgy as patterned trousers you need to get them from a half decent shop in a nice material and a good cut and be prepared to spend out for them.

Amazinggg · 31/05/2013 13:27

Bleaurgh, sorry. Printed trousers can be great but I think fitted ones are easier to wear. I have these from Peacocks which are almost identical to a Hobbs pair. Gap have some reduced at the mo too.

ellesabe · 31/05/2013 13:39

They have been returned!

Thank you mn for helping me to see the light Grin

I think you made the right decision. I would never wear printed trousers and, sorry, those did you no favours!

rockybalboa · 31/05/2013 14:44

Ew. You need to be a stick thin 18 year old with big hair. Get rid!!

Lottapianos · 31/05/2013 14:47

I think they're wicked. I would totally wear them and I'm size 14 with a good sized arse.

Wear what you like - never mind DH or any of the other haters. My DP calls my patterned trousers my 'loon pants' and I give not one shiny fig Smile

cuntingrimmer08 · 31/05/2013 18:40

It's not your age it's the trousers they are all kinds of hideous
