It was duty-free. Please, please tell me I didn't waste my money. Are there any skin glowy aficionados who use this stuff?

I too bought it once. Have never bothered since. I use Botox and Aldi lacura cream and it works. La Mer does nothing. Sorry.

HandMini · 29/05/2013 21:52

How much did it cost?

greensmoothiegoddess · 29/05/2013 21:54

*whispers.....

£192 after discount

Gulp

What do you get for that? Like how big a tub?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 29/05/2013 21:56

I love it , the lotion not the cream as it suits my skin better. However I buy Elemis usually as there is always something else I could spend the £ on.

williaminajetfighter · 29/05/2013 21:58

The hype is real. It is amazing although I prefer the lotion and soft cream over the heavier std cream.

It makes skin amazing and becomes an expensive addiction. Have used for 6 years. Am 44 and skin really good. Smoothed out skin tone keeps it plump. Really great stuff.

I have tried the aldi stuff. Um doesn't really compare. V

HandMini · 29/05/2013 21:59

'kinell!!

seriously who buys this??

Charliefox · 29/05/2013 22:29

I honestly don't see the difference. I've used em all. I've used more expensive unctions than la mer and you get to a certain age and realise that no cream on this planet can recover the very essence of youth and the architecture of your face.

cardamomginger · 30/05/2013 08:47

Didn't JLo use this as body lotion?

CiderwithBuda · 30/05/2013 08:51

Been tempted a few times but never tried it. A friend did but didn't rate it which put me off.

Be interested to know how you get on.

Panzee · 30/05/2013 08:52

Creme de la mer? Sea cream? Sounds, erm, lovely....:)

BunnyLebowski · 30/05/2013 08:55

I read an article that said it was no more effective than astral.

Also for that money I'd expect classier packaging. It's very 70's.

I converted to La Roche Posay a few months ago and my skin is amazing. Like getting asked by strangers what I use amazing Grin. It costs £12.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 30/05/2013 09:08

Depends on your skin really doesn't it. Stuff that other people rave about is shit on my skin. Same for make up.

ComradeJing · 30/05/2013 11:42

I use the la mer gel cream. I luuurrrrve it.

EuroShaggleton · 30/05/2013 11:48

I am trying my first pot of the soft cream now. I'm about halfway through.

I like it but I'm not amazed by it. I also don't think the pot will last as long as the sales woman claimed it would (3 months for the small pot), even though I am using it sparingly.

coffeeinbed · 30/05/2013 11:50

have been tempted but never tried it.
Hope it works for you OP.
I read somewhere that the original German Nivea is very similar - but it had to be the German one.Hmm

EuroShaggleton · 30/05/2013 11:52

panzee it's called that because it has some sort of algae based ingredient in it. It is creme of the sea.

Nivea is supposed to be similar, without the algae stuff. I've never heard the German only bit before though.

Lottapianos · 30/05/2013 12:14

'I converted to La Roche Posay a few months ago and my skin is amazing. '

Which product in particular Bunny? I use Astral every day and have done for years. It's the business for dehydrated skin, just makes everything plump up and look dewy and glowy. I put tons of it on at night, it's flipping marvellous. I can't imagine how anything would be better, but I have heard rave reviews of La Roche Posay products so am tempted Smile

coffeeinbed · 30/05/2013 12:15

It'a a big pot!
Grin

HappyAsEyeAm · 30/05/2013 12:19

I havent used it, but I spend a lot on skincare, and use lots of estee lauder products. If I added up what I spend on each of them, I am sure I would get near to what you have spent.

What would be best? Loving it so much that you feel committed to buying it forever, and spending that? Or not liking it that much and spending less? I think I would go for loving it, having amazing skin and just closing my eyes whenever I bought it again Smile

BunnyLebowski · 30/05/2013 12:19

It's the Hydreane Riche moisturiser Lotta.

My skin is on the dry side and this stuff is just incredible for it.

I was getting the odd angry pimple around my mouth/chin too and that has completely stopped.

Probably my favourite MN recommendation Grin

cardamomginger · 30/05/2013 12:20

Lottapianos - I use La Roche Posay (amongst other things) too. Also have deydrated skin. I use: Physiological Cleaning Gel, Hydraphase UV INtesne Light (mornings), Hydraphase Intense Rich (every other night - alternating with Roc Wrinkle Filler or Skin Ceuticals Retinol 0.5), and Redermic Yeux eye cream. Also use their La R P shower gel and body lotion. Fab products and a very extensive range. Often on special offer at Boots Smile.

Lottapianos · 30/05/2013 12:22

Thanks very much Bunny and cardamomginger - both great usernames too! Have been thinking about starting an eye cream so may look into the Redermic Yeux you recommend.

Yay Grin

GotAnyGrapes · 30/05/2013 12:24

I hated it! It felt very abrasive. Even if it was £20 I still wouldn't buy it. Mine is still sitting in a drawer two thirds full.

cafecito · 30/05/2013 12:59

I got totally addicted to the gel version. Used it for years, had lovely skin. Have now switched to kiehl's, at < a quarter of the price, very little difference.

Have heard amazing things about Astral (what's that, like £2?) if you have dry skin
