... will you tell me what the hell to do with my hair?

It's long and greying brown and just kind of hangs there

I want a style, but I need it to be low maintenance and easy to look after.

Ideas? Please?

Of course we will :)

Don't forget to say what type of hair you have ie thick or thin and what clothes style you prefer

You are brave. I wouldn't inflict my image online to anyone ;)

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 27/05/2013 21:40

of course.

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 27/05/2013 21:41

a bob?

BadHairYear · 27/05/2013 21:43

Photo is up [brave]

Um, I have thin hair but a lot of it if that makes sense. It's quite wavy naturally, especially the front, which curls up if cut into a fringe.

Clothes vary between practical outdoorsy stuff, skinny jeans and T-Shirts and tea dresses...

Thanks for the starter Hec, but I think a traditional bob is too sleek - would need 'doing' each morning wouldn't it? I'd prefer a 'wash and go', even better if it was 'wash night before, brush in the morning and go'.

Um- get rid of the bobble hat, then maybe you could copy Mummy's hair? Hers is quite nice!

BHY you have a gorgeous, beautiful face and I think your hair is lovely as it is! no one can see the grey in photos.

To make subtle changes you could use colour to make it more interesting... perhaps gentle slices of a lighter reddish colour underneath the top layers.

this is not quite what I mean but I like the colour contrast. if you put that shade of red in your hair underneath the top layers so it only showed when your hair moved it would look quite fab with a warm dark brown on top.

You could also try a keratin treatment to improve the texture. I also have a lot of very thin hair and keratin treatments make a huge difference.

I've got very similar hair, grey a lovely chocolate brown, thin, but a lot of it.

I've found a longish bob the best style. If I haven't got time to do it properly in the morning, I just put it up in a messy bun.

LulaPalooza · 27/05/2013 21:55

LaurieFairyCake · 27/05/2013 21:56

It's nice the way it is you daft bat Confused

Wavy, shoulder length, dark - what's not to like?

JoyMachine · 27/05/2013 21:57

Being serious- your description of your hair is exactly like mine.
I have a layered graduated bob- yes, it's completely boring, and standard-issue mum-hair but, but, BUT it is very quick to wash (5 mins, w. conditioner), blow dry (5 mins max), basically stays put 95% of the time.

I get it cut every 10 weeks or so, and sometimes I have fewer layers, or less graduation, but a bob it remains, at least until I have staff to deal with my children, and allow me to spend all day doing my hair Grin

BadHairYear · 27/05/2013 21:58

Hah. Sorry JoyMachine - I don't seem to have any photos just of me. Which might also be the problem with the hair... no time to do it!

So I googled long messy bob and the first pic that came up was Alexa Chung Is that hairstyle as easy to manage as it looks? Or would I spend hours on it?

Mine's thin but a lot of it. I have a pretty short bob, but it's been cut slightly choppy so that if any bits want to 'fly away' it still looks okay. A few different colours would be lovely, give it some depth. If you can only afford to home dye, I'd get a rich chocolate brown. When my hair needs cutting I always find that a dye makes it look better for another few weeks.

JoyMachine · 27/05/2013 21:59

OR of course, you could check out Hec's photos... she did hers herself!

EleanorFarjeon · 27/05/2013 22:00

It doesn't look thin to me.

I think a really good bob with long layers and a bit of framing around your face would look lovely. You have a nice face!

JoyMachine · 27/05/2013 22:00

Oh, yes. I look exactly like Alexa Chung! Wink

BadHairYear · 27/05/2013 22:01

I love the colours in your link LulaPalooza. I was thinking of going blondish for summer, but I quite like the idea of something bolder.

WuzzleMonkey · 27/05/2013 22:02

You're very pretty...you look like a dark-haired Nell McAndrew...I'm just going to google her hair..

happyreindeer · 27/05/2013 22:03

You and ds are lovely

BadHairYear · 27/05/2013 22:03

So if i have mine cut like that will I also look like Alexa? Smile

DorisShutt · 27/05/2013 22:03

If your hair is wavy now, then adding layers may mean that it will allow more of the natural curl to appear, so your hair will move from wavy to curly.

You could (with your bone structure that I'm very jealous of!) be a brunette Charlize Theron?

looseleaf · 27/05/2013 22:05

I think you look lovely as you are (and v good-looking child clearly too!) so only change if you need a change and bored!

WuzzleMonkey · 27/05/2013 22:05

Some....um...what are they called? Layers or graduation at the front to break it up a bit?

Nell

BadHairYear · 27/05/2013 22:09

Thanks for the compliments, but I really do need a change. I may have 'accidentally' (because this is a national website) chosen a flattering pic, but my hair is a state and I am going to do something about it this week.
