So, I have got cheap wellies and they a very uncomfy so I am now moving to the wilds and need some wellies or country boots I can spend a lot of time in without the ouch and the cold and without looking completely awful! Not Hunters obviously because moving to the country and wearing Hunter wellies would be even too much of a cliche for me......

I also need a long raincoat, how can anyone get to 43 and not own a proper coat?

I've got a pair of neoprene Le Chameau boots with a zip - not cheap, but I wear them every single day to walk the dog, the zip means you can get them on and off easily, the neoprene keeps your feet warm, the sole is good and grippy for mud/snow, they last forever, and they're strangely flattering, for wellies. Kate Middleton wears Le Chameau boots, if that makes them sexier, but to be honest, most people round here in the middle of nowhere wear LC because they last ages and are practical. That, or a £15 pair from Countrywide.

Do you actually want true wellies.I am a country girl and have given up on wellies and moved onto equestrian boots,I have toggi berkley atm,they warm and waterproof and dont look so bad if I nip to the shops wearing them.

I walk for 90 mins a day in my Dunlops, a fair bit of it through a mud mire some weeks. They're plenty warm and comfy enough and I don't even do the carpet thing.....might try that though.

They ain't sexy though.
Cant say I've ever felt the need for sexy wellies but each totheir own.

Hunters still v good in my opinion, my most recent pair that were bought only for festival use, have been worn non stop for 3 years and still going strong, my uber expensive Dubarrys split within 9 months!! Know what you're saying about cliche, I live somewhere where many people dress for the country but never actually set foot in a puddle, but they all wear le Chameu (sp?) now!

And seriously what is wrong with trying to look nice, seriously not about other people just aware despite my very glamourous clothing choices I do actually have to be sensible about this - I type this as a woman who does not even own a pair of jeans..... change is a' coming.......

I have a pair of dunlops and they are horrid. I really will be setting foot in puddles honestly.

Hunters the most comfortable wellies I have ever worn. But quality is now an issue and I am returning a second pair today as they have cracked and split within a year. They are not warm enough for the winter so I have a different make that I can wear very thick socks with but they are not as well fitting as the hunters.

There's only one person on this thread who knows what they're talking about and that's the person who said Le Chameau. Don't listen to the others - they know nada. Trust me on this - I know of what I speak. Hunters, Joules, etc will have you the laughingstiltk. People will point and stare. Aigle just about cuts the mustard but Le Chameau is where it's at.

I think I would have to sell a child on EBAY for La Chameau but Aigle seems to be not crazy price, posh enugh to be credible but not too posh I would look like a big towny tool who never steps in puddles... yes, I could be over thinking it

Joules etc mark you out immediately as the sort of townie who has been inspired to move to the country and will make the locals roll their eyes when you pronounce "Gosh, did you know you can store apples?" Frankly they are only designed for jumping in puddles.

Aigle and Dubarry denote possible country heritage but also lots of money so the locals will probably still hate you.

Just stick to a pair of Safemaster from your nearest agricultural merchants with steel capped toes for when you get trodden on by a cow.
