BD - glad to hear about the improvement, I'm sure her early treatment will have helped enormously. My uncle had a stroke some years ago, which luckily his wife spotted straight away (always good to be married to an ER nurse
) and although it was quite serious initially, he has recovered amazingly, and like BTM's mum, just has some word recall issues towards the end of the day when he's tired.
Thanks for all your nice words about my mum and dad (Stropps, I didn't mean to make you feel guilty!), it's nice to be able to talk about them a bit here. In RL when you say you miss someone you haven't seen for 16 or 10 years, people can be a bit
. And, as I said, there is a distinct sense now, alongside the loss, of having been spared something, or at least a relief that I won't have to do it again, the dashes to hospital and the worry. I feel such sympathy for those who are going through it now. For myself, on the days when I can convince myself I won't die at 60, I am planning a reckless and ridiculous old age, as pay back for having to be fully grown up before I was ready. So you are all invited to my 61st birthday party, which will be the kick off point for adventures and misbehaviour.
Oooh, and in other news, dh has been made permanent at work (he's been on rolling contracts since he started last April). Yay! They are also restructuring his dept a bit and he should get some juniors to help with the workload, so life will ease off for him a bit.
MrsS - everything crossed for good job news for you too.
