Bra intervention - have I got this right?

Hi - I'm new, hope its ok to come straight on with a question....I Somehow stumbled across one of the bra intervention threads a couple of weeks ago and have been following them in amazement ever since.

I've always worn an A cup (32/34 pre pregnancy, currently 36A) - never been measured professionally but always done it myself based on the "add 4 or 5 inches" rule. I have pretty much constant back ache and neck pain but never ever imagined this could be caused by boobs as they really are so tiny!

But after reading your fascinating threads, I think I should be a 30/32D! My measurements are 31 under bust, 35 at fullest point when bending over to 90 degrees, and 34 above. Have I got that right? If so I am truly truly in shock that my almost-not-there boobs are a D!!

Thanks

But was it because of the way it was made and that it was a strapless? Even that was difficult to do up, I only succeeded with a lot of huffing and puffing. Imm wavering to get a bigger band...Blush

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/06/2013 20:48

If you can, try to sort out your size in normal bras first. Strapless can be kind of odd at the best of times.

Which Wonderbra was it? If it's the Ultimate Strapless IME it runs big in the back so if it is tight in a 30 then I would try a 32 in others. However, others don't run the same way. However the too small cups could be the problem too - try doing it up back to front as that will help you figire out if the cups were distorting things.

So today I have bought a 36G, I was previously wearing a 42D!!Shock

Can't believe the difference, DH said my boobs look much better so that's a good start!! And I actually felt like I have some support!! Hurrah!!!

Thank you bra interventionists!! GrinGrin

Hi all!

I need help!
Just measured myself at just under 33inches beneath the bust and 42 inches when bent over like in the diagram .

I'm just coming up to 16 weeks pregnant and my boobs have suddenly grown !

I normally wear a 32dd but am spilling over the top now - what should I try?

Thanks in advance

sparkle12mar08 · 20/06/2013 23:03

32GG to start with, and try H and HH too, possibly with am extended to eke out as much life as possible.

babyiwantabump · 21/06/2013 08:16

But where can I get pretty bras in that size? I struggle to get a 32 DD as it is!

sparkle12mar08 · 21/06/2013 09:09

brastop.co.uk - has frequent flash sales, often weekly, I think their customer service is brilliant and it's free returns,

bravissimo.co.uk - bit pricier but they do have some gorgeous stuff once you know your size. Be aware that you need to call them within 7 days to get your delivery refunded if you're going to return a whole order, you still have 30 days then to get it to them. If you don't call you won't get the delivery back.

There's also mycurvesandme website and leila? lelia? something. Also, don't be afriad of ebay either, there's some lovely stuff that comes up there often for fractions of what you'd pay in store. Honestly, if definitely doable to find pretty and sexy stuff in that size, I'm a 30H/HH and I've revamped my bra drawer completely with the help of brastop and ebay!

Meganhunt · 22/06/2013 20:40

Realise I am a little late on this thread but if anyone is still here please help!! Was measured a while ago at a local department store as a 36c but the back keeps riding up and straps falling down. Followed the instructions on the website with the picture of the lady bending over (!) and I am a30.5 under and 36 around the boobs. What sizes should I look at trying? Tia.

sparkle12mar08 · 22/06/2013 21:05

No wonder it doesn't fit, it's three back sizes too big!!! Try 30E, 30F, and 28F and 28FF

Meganhunt · 22/06/2013 21:11

Great, thank you. I didn't bother looking at this thread before because I'd been measured somewhere - feeling silly now!!

devonsmummy · 22/06/2013 21:19

Saw this thread a while back but only just measured myself
Under boob measurement 34"
Leaning measurement 40"
I've been wearing a 38d but guessing that's not right
What should I be ????
Thanks

SorrelForbes · 22/06/2013 21:33

Id say try a 34E, however the cup volume will be the same as your 38Ds. If you scoop do you get overspill/bulging? If so then try a 34F and FF too.

devonsmummy · 22/06/2013 21:44

What do you mean by scoop? Confused
I picked up new 38d's today a d they are really uncomfortable , feel like tie straps are too right on my holders even let out as far as poss.
I also have a noticeable size difference in left to right Confused

coolkat · 22/06/2013 21:51

Hi ladies stumbled across this and a blog and went to be fitted in John Lewis today. Was ok. Had better fittings. Have been wearing Freya and fantasie 34e but noticed not quite right under the arm/ where boob comes around. Tried lots on and settled on a fantasie Rebecca in 32ff. Have been working out so could have lost weight here. Was Hoping my cup size might shrink but no!

Just want to say thanks for highlighting the going down a back size now to source some lovely new fitting bras!

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/06/2013 22:23

Tis pretty common to lose underbust but not overbust so it seems! Fantasie quite often run generous in the cups (as to Freya) so if you are ordering other bras like panache to try online you might want to try a cup size up

Devonsmummy - have a look at thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk - there is a post there which explains how to manage asymmetry. IN terms of the scoop - put your bra on by leaning forward and pouring yourself in to the cups. Then once it is on, stand side on to a mirror, lean forward and put your right hand round inside your left cup. All the loose skin, flesh, flab, overhung, lumps and bumps and whatever else you want to call it around the back of the bra, straps and armpits needs it's ass hauled in to the cups. Repeat on the other side Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/06/2013 22:24

Oh and the straps are hurting on the 38Ds because they are taking far too much of the weight. About 70% of the support should come from the back of the bra but if it is too loose then it transfers to the straps making them hurt like hell

amicusapple · 23/06/2013 18:22

Can someone tell me where to start please? 36 under and 43 over. Trying to find a strapless today which was just horrendous! Any recommendations?

I've been wearing 38d but have lost some weight since getting measured.

Fed up getting into a flustered stressed out mess trying to buy bra's!

Thanks in advance Smile

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/06/2013 18:27

Start by trying a 36F, and try the Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless or Freya Deco (might need a size tweak from non-strapless as they fit a bit different)

amicusapple · 23/06/2013 18:31

Really? Tried the wonder bra 38d today which felt really tight. Is that because of trying too small a cup?

Thanks!

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/06/2013 18:43

Most likely yes - the Wonderbra can also run on the small side back wise so you might actually want a 38 in it, but you'd probably need to go up a couple of cups. Try it in a 36F and 38E. If the cup is too small it steals the back fabric.

You also need to scoop like a crazy lady with the Wonderbra - on me at least it doesn't just land in the right place, it needs some persuading and positioning and scooping to get it sitting properly. But once it's there it doesn't shift!

ButWhhhyyyMummy · 23/06/2013 18:53

please help!!

I measured a 36.5 under my bust and a 43 at the fullest bent over.

Howerver I'm now at a loss, can I really be measuring that right?

I normally wear a 38 b/c however I know this is the wrong size.

Tia

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/06/2013 19:05

As with the prev poster, start by trying a 36F and make sure you scoop - read the info here on the fitting setcion about putting on a bra and testing the fit

amicusapple · 23/06/2013 19:10

Stats- if this works I may well kiss you!

Will report back!

devonsmummy · 24/06/2013 09:48
