and I have just seen this dress. \link{http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Monsoon-floral-dress-size-14_W0QQitemZ9319557048QQcategoryZ58377QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem\ebay dress} What do you think? I'm 25, will it be too old for me? Could I wear a bra underneath do you think? The wedding is next month, on midsummer day so it should be nice weather. We have a full invite, quite a big do. I haven't ever been to a proper wedding before so I am going to need MN guidance... Smile!

Was just looking at those links Cod and that music scared the sh*te out of me my speakers were on full blast! I like the Coast one myself but you would have to have nice shoulders and arms to wear it.

cod · 17/05/2006 17:13

lol but she says she is on ly a b cup so maybe quite svelte

Ledodgyherring · 17/05/2006 17:20

Flossam · 18/05/2006 08:04

Didn't win it. Sad I get in from work at 8 and DS gets dropped off at same time, auction ended at about 5 past. And I missed it by 50p. Sad Ah well. Am thinking of going to hit the shops as I have the morning to myself.

Thanks for the links Cod, have had a look, none of those are really 'me' I don't think. not sure what is though. Couple of RL friends did think the dress I wanted was too old for me. ah, I dunno. Ledodgey, I have a big arse, so that skirt wouldn't flatter me I don't think. As for svelte, ha ha ha! I am a 14, top and bottom, and am 5'8 and a half. I am not blobby as such, but not svelte! Grin

rigth so if your arsmsa re fat then NO strapless affair

haev oyu a waist?

what colouirin are you?

SSSandy · 18/05/2006 13:30

Maybe go into a flash shop and try on some different styles till you know what style best suits your figure, then look for dresses of that type in a shop you can afford (or on ebay of course)?

My main problem is not having a flat tum Sad so I like the Empire style that gathers under your breast, however I'm the petite Audrey Hepburn type. You could probably get away with something more glamorous.

cod · 18/05/2006 13:31

DOs AND DON'Ts

A dressy coat works especially well for a day-into-evening wedding. For the ceremony, button the coat. Then whip it off for the reception to reveal something more glitzy. Ensure your dress is not longer than your coat.

The jacket-over-dress combo is also versatile. Bracelet sleeves are the most elegant. Matching is less interesting than contrasting, so if your dress is patterned, wear a plain jacket, and vice versa.

If you are wearing a skirt suit, go for something with a defined waist. Experiment with pattern and texture. n If you want lots of wear from the outfit, choose a skirt suit, as you can mix and match it with your existing wardrobe, wearing the jacket with jeans.

With trousers, avoid the job-interview look. Soften the jacket with a luxurious silk scarf or wear a flowing tunic.

Keep your bag small and smart. Avoid big hats if you’re short

SSSandy · 18/05/2006 13:58

What are bracelet sleeves?

Flossam · 18/05/2006 14:58

Thanks Cod, can't help thinking you copied and pasted? WinkGrin Like the jacket idea but then two expensive garments to buy! I like the empire lines too. My colouring is quite pale ish, I'm kind of yellowey if that makes sense. My hair is med- dark blonde and I have blue eyes.

I tried on some fancy dresses in debenhams, the best one was an orange one, but not sure I'd be brave enough. Felt a little overdressed. Then found this one \link{http://www.principles.co.uk/pws/ProductDetails.ice?ProductID=1047\in principles} but I am not sure if it is smart enough/ appropriate for a wedding. Would love some opinions again! Grin

floss that dress is great for a wedding

some red lippy, matching bag and shoes (you could have red bag and sandals, or white) and off you go

hunkercaribou · 18/05/2006 15:07

Love that dress - you'll look gorgeous in it, definitely. Mind you, that's not about the dress - you're beautiful, Floss Smile
