and I have just seen this dress. \link{http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Monsoon-floral-dress-size-14_W0QQitemZ9319557048QQcategoryZ58377QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem\ebay dress} What do you think? I'm 25, will it be too old for me? Could I wear a bra underneath do you think? The wedding is next month, on midsummer day so it should be nice weather. We have a full invite, quite a big do. I haven't ever been to a proper wedding before so I am going to need MN guidance... Smile!

yes I run that risk. Sometimes I get things dry cleaned.

Ok, perhaps I have said enough now...

It's not that I can't afford it. We are obviously very different as I would hate to wear the same outfit to several occasions. Anyway, some people (including me) find this a solution and other (like you) would never dream of it. It just depends on the person.

PinkKerPlink · 16/05/2006 15:28

do you leave th labels on sweetheart>

come on guys, it isnt unheard off!Shock:o

SoupDragon · 16/05/2006 15:30

Think that's appalling sweetheart. What about the person who buys it thinking it's new? Appalling and dishonest.

I wouldnt be able to do it as i ALWAYS miss my mouth

pussycatmomma · 16/05/2006 15:37

what kind of budget do you have for said wedding outfit??? i only ask cause i have managed a whole caboodle outfit for £75 - that includes shoes, skirt, top, bag, and little hat/feathery/headpiece thing. I was very pleased with my reasonable budget, nothing was 2nd hand although i dont mind buying 2nd hand, and is v. nice outfit. It can be done!

sweetheart · 16/05/2006 16:05

What about when I have brought things from the shop that have previously been returned - maybe this has happened to me and maybe not but I will never know so why worry about it.

I don't wear things with tags in - you can either re-attach them or just take them back with the items.

I can honestly say I have never been questioned about returning an item, the sales assistants are always perfectly happy to provide you with a refund provided you have the receipt.

hana · 16/05/2006 16:19

that is appalling sweatheart
can't believe you can even justify it to yourself

SoupDragon · 16/05/2006 16:24

Monsoon says returned items should be "in their original condition" and next says "unused" as does Debenhams. you are, in effect, committing fraud by pretending the items have not been worn whether you are asked or not. You know they are worn and unreturnable.

LIZS · 16/05/2006 16:53

Sweetheart that is so dishonest. You want to be careful. Stores do cross check information and will note regular returners, circulate descriptions and card details etc (used to work in Retail Operations and saw the faxes and communications), so don't be surprised if security appear one of these days. Customers like you are the reason why returns policies generally are being tightened up.

LIZS · 16/05/2006 16:56

Nice dress Flossam btw. Would wear a light shrug, eprhaps a crochet type, and neutral bra

Gillian76 · 16/05/2006 17:08

I just bought a pink pashmina for a wedding last week. You would be welcome to borrow it if you like.

Gillian76 · 16/05/2006 17:13

Oh and [shock[ at the returning bit. Imagine being the person to buy it after someone had been sweating in it all day?

Yuck!

Gillian76 · 16/05/2006 17:14
Shock
Esmummy · 16/05/2006 17:19

And fag smoke Shock YUK!

Gillian76 · 16/05/2006 17:20

Oh yes, vile.

Flossam · 16/05/2006 17:23

Well SW goodness! Wouldn't cross my mind I have to say, but well it is rather naughty and wouldn't want to risk shaming DP. Gillian, thank you that is ever so kind of you! If I manage to get the dress would you mind if I CAT'd you? Thanks so much for the offer.

I wouldn't wear it to a wedding TBH but that's just me, I might well be a staid old bat. It's too low cut for me. I'm more comfortable showing my legs than my chest.

You'll be dancing, so you'd be best in a bra. Personally, I'd consider that double sided tape you can use (sticks to your chest and to the fabric just inside the neckline) to stop the neckline gaping open or hold it together a bit with a small safety pin so you needn't always be checking.
