professional studio/photographer for a mature 'model' book in London, any reccomendations?

Hi

I am thinking about having some professional photos taken, with a good photographer, and create a book (model style iykwim) I want to avoid big busy studios and lots of people.
However I have few problems

1 - I am shy in front of strangers and hate posing
2 - My wardrobe is shit and I can't put clothes never mind accessories together so I would need to borrow stuff from someone who can help me create a look
3 - I am rubbish at styling my hair and doing my own make up so I would need someone to do it for me

4 - I don't have much money but don't mind paying a reasonable price if good results are guaranteed.

Has anyone ever done it or know who to recommend?

Whatever.
You can read it the way it suits you better.

Even HQ stepped in, but they must be wrong too, hey.

ellangirl thanks for being nice. I was an ugly child and pre-teen. My looks came together somehow when I hit the teenage years. But I wasn't tall enough to try modelling and had no confidence. I always dismissed compliments and never treated myself, specially with good clothing. Now I'm mature enough to embrace it.

If you are mature enough to embrace it ... go and buy some clothes, fgs!

YoniShapedLoveBox · 23/04/2013 15:17

I'm happy with the ones I got.

LadyMountbatten · 23/04/2013 16:52

You said they were shit

YoniShapedLoveBox · 23/04/2013 17:21

They are. But I don't mind. If I want new ones I don't need to open a thread here to get them.

And I never said I wanted a new wardrobe or fashion tips. I wanted clothing for a exotic photo shoot.

LadyMountbatten · 23/04/2013 17:32

Like a Bounty advert type of thing?
Fringed beaches?

garlicyoni · 23/04/2013 17:37

Oh, you're incorrigible!

You seemed to have finally accepted the extreme unlikelihood that a studio of your choosing will happen to own a ready supply of 'exotic' clothing in your size and to your taste.

Yet you're annoyed at the suggestion you might need to buy some.

You state that you're not skilled in dressing yourself, your hair or doing your makeup.

Yet you dismiss suggestions of getting professional assistance with same.

You want the moon on a stick, don't you?!

YoniShapedLoveBox · 23/04/2013 17:58

FFS. Get it: I wanted a fricking photo shoot. Not fashion tips. I'm HAPPY with the way I look. Shit wardrobe or not. I have money to buy clothes but I don't want to. I don't want to spending time styling my hair, I like it wild. I don't wear make up and I don't want to. If there isn't a studio or service like I'm imagining than tough. It is a shame. I think it would be a good business.

OP posts:
LadyMountbatten · 23/04/2013 17:59

So its a fringed bikini look

Or Cheongsam?

garlicyoni · 23/04/2013 18:46

YY, LadyM, 'exotic' has remained mysteriously undefined apart from "something high fashion, eccentric". But, we now see, not actually fashion at all, let alone high fashion ... An enigmatic challenge indeed. Cheongsam might do it! Not high fashion or eccentric. But enigmatic: yes, could be :)

MonkeyingAroundTown · 23/04/2013 18:46

Just interested, you dont need to answer, but as you have previously mentioned your english language i was just interested in your nationality.

I think your english is fine by the way.

LadyMountbatten · 23/04/2013 18:48

I got my post "6. Snotty "deleted !
Am stunned.

Obviously it was wrong.

garlicyoni · 23/04/2013 19:17

I somehow doubt that a photo studio, warehousing a sizeable current high-fashion stock, employing talented stylists, hair & makeup personnel and providing quality photography at everyday prices, would make a good business at all.

A person could get somebody to pull all that together for them ... but that person would have to embrace the idea of using a stylist.

garlicyoni · 23/04/2013 19:18

You must have been wrong, LadyM. Tsk.

Chubfuddler · 23/04/2013 19:37

Honestly you just don't seem to get that it's a little bit bewildering that someone who is happy with shit clothes wants a high fashion style photo shoot. It is odd. Not wrong, just....odd.

Fuckitthatlldo · 23/04/2013 19:41

This thread is weird.

littlepeas · 23/04/2013 19:46

Very weird.

YoniShapedLoveBox · 23/04/2013 19:51

So maybe I am weird than.

There was a thing on woman's hour a few weeks back about women wanting 'boudoir shots' taken - its very popular.

I'm guessing you're after something a bit different though yoni.

Am intrigued as to why you don't want to buy nice clothes though? Perhaps you could break up exactly what you do want as not sure anyone is going to offer the full package unless you're Jennifer Aniston doing the cover of vogue.

So get a personal shopper to select you a few nice outfits. Go and get your hair sorted on the day, and make up if you want and then book a photographer separately.

LadyMountbatten · 23/04/2013 20:24

I too agree. The hate clothes thing is odd

LadyMountbatten · 23/04/2013 20:26

I don't see the point of the photos.

MrsCampbellBlack · 23/04/2013 20:41

I think nowadays we're so used to seeing celebs looking incredibly photo-shopped/styled that our own amateur shots look really dreadful in comparison.

I guess if I were beautiful (which I'm not) I may want a permanent record of how I looked in my prime Wink

But I'd just get DH to take lots of photos and then delete all the ones where I look crap.
