I'm a bit fed up of sporting the "two black eyes" look, any ideas?!

Have two permanent black circles under my eyes, seriously I look bruised. Apart from drinking lots of water, fresh air, exercise etc, is there anything I can do that will help? Are there any creams or beauty products that I can try, or shall I just go and buy a balaclava now? Tia.

You want the gel preparation h. Make sure it's that brand. Anbesol stings like a thousand bees.

The pile cream is for bags.
My GP calls them Allergy shiners too.

I use Clinique light reflecting stuff, as its quite fluid, but has good coverage.
I also use a thicker concealer from Rimmel if they look really blue: I paint it on with a brush and don't rub it in, then paint a tiny bit of powder over the concealer only, as putting powder all over under your eyes makes all the wrinkles look like the Grand Canyon, so apply with a very light hand.

Do you get kidney stones?

I also use arnica if they look really blue. I got the children's spray on nelsons one with Shea butter in it and I dab it on for overnight treatment.

Ooh actually Venus, I do have kidney stones although I was totally unaware of their existence until I had to have a scan for something else. They don't bother me at all and I had forgotten about them until you asked. Why do you ask?

Bollocks, tis not kidney stones I had but gall stones. They're different aren't they? Have already ordered the Prep H but based on past experiences I guess, even if it doesn't help my bruised eyes, it won't go to waste!

Binks - Anbesol? Isn't that mouth ulcer stuff? Do you mean Anusol (or "Arsehole" as my dh likes to call it)?

OK, 48. Perfect. If this is something that has come on with age and not a problem you suffered with as a girl as well (it is for some people) then I will tell you what to do and you can thank me, fall at my feet and love me forever.

Go and get some Restylane or other filler injected into your tear troughs. It doesn't hurt (I promise) it costs about 300 quid iirc, and it lasts about 8 months minimum, sometimes a year or more. It it so fantastically effective that you will want to hunt me down and snog me afterwards.

Not only does it plump out your area under your eyes like it used to look when you were young, and give you lovely smooth apples of your cheeks when you smile, but it miraculously reduces the dark discoloration as well. It's some of the best money I've ever spent.

Having said all that I have just googled it and it appears it can help hugely on much younger women who just happen to have a lot of discoloration as well, for whatever reason. But if it is due to an underlying kidney problem, whilst I'm sure it will help a lot, it may not cure it totally.

And anyway I still think you are all being to soft on the OW. She may not be to blame exactly, but she's hardly some poor innocent victim either. You are all making out that this was something 'done' to her as though she was completely passive with no choices along the way. Hmm

She played with fired, got burnt, chose to have this baby and has to live with the consequences. If she expected it to be any easier than this she was a fool.

A word of warning about Preparation H, I have heard that it's great for shrinking bags under the eyes but have also read, since it's actually meant to shrink piles, that it can thin the skin around the eyes if used long term. Not sure if this is true or not but worth bearing in mind...

Ha ha! Yes I did mean Anusol! But my advice still stands - don't put either that or Anbesol near your eyes!

And yes Preparation H is not to be used every day. It's more for the mornings where you wake up looking like a balloon.

I had fillers under my eyes for dark circles. They weren't perfect but it definitely made a difference. Still had to use concealer but it didn't sink into wrinkles like before.

< that's me falling at Fellatio's feet (even if she does think I'm not a poor innocent victim!). So fillers will help with dark circles? Never would have thought that, and whereas at the moment it's the bruised look that's troubling me, can't say that a nice dose of fillers wouldn't improve various other matters. How do I find a reliable person to do it? On the off-chance you're in the same neck of the woods as me Fellatio, would you be willing to pm whereabouts you are and who you used?

What would thinning the skin around your eyes actually do? Would it just make the darkness worse?

Many good private dentists do it, but there are also specialist beauty clinics.

I got mine done in Colchester. There are loads of videos and stuff on youtube that explain how it works. Have a google. I think the depletion of collagen in your facial tissue makes the skin thinner and so it sits closer to the blood vessels beneath, making that purple shadowy look. Once it's plumped out it creates a sort of buffer between the skin and the blood vessels. Or something. I might have just made that up.

Thinning of the skin is not a good thing. Your skin gets thinner as you get older and is one of the contributing factors that make it look bad. But the thinning will only happen if you're loading it on night and day.

this link explains it very well. Although he does emphasise that is is not a skin lightening technique and you need to consider the root of the problem before you decide whether tear trough correction is appropriate.

Sorry Binks, I think you are misunderstanding me. I mean the skin thinning naturally with age is often the cause of the dark bags, and the filler is a solution. Not that the filler causes thinning!

I have suddenly got a very wrinkly left undereye plus dark circles: all of my usual concealers make it look dreadful: any thoughts as to what would be best to use in terms of concealers? Have tried double wear (the worst for emphasising the new wrinkles!), clinique light reflecting one and collection 2000 one. Anything else I can panic buy? I am using eye creams religiously but am still very crepey there.

I have awful black circles since having dc2 and its not even as if she's a bad sleeper - nothing I do covers them up. I can't afford £300 though.....

I do use a wee white white eyeshadow in the inner corner of my eye to help make me look a bit more awake.
