Eyebrow pencil or powder??

I have medium brown hair and black eyebrows. They are a bit patchy which is always noticeable to me on photos. I have tried using a dark grey pencil on them but its not a good match and I wondered if anyone had recommendations? The pencils I've seen all tend to be brown shades rather than black, but I've heard people rave about powders - does anyone have any faves? Either pencils or powders!

I love my Laura Mercier eyebrow pencil. It comes in lots of natural shades. I'm soft brunette, for medium brown hair/brows. I find it easier to apply than powder.

I think benefit and the body shop do eyebrow powder kits.

Are you near a MAC counter ? I've used a pencil on and off but have the best results with an angled brush from MAC and their eyeshadow Omega - this would probably be too light for you but they'd be able to match you up with a shade. I comb through a tiny blob of hair gel to tame any unruly hairs and then use the brush to apply the shadow.

Angled brush. Mines bobbi brown. Then eyeshadow dark brown.

I use both, but eye shadow in the right shade gives the best results. If you have a smokey eye palette try one of the darker shades? I'm cool-toned and taupe and gray work much better on me than reddish browns.

Have just gone and tried a couple of black eye shadows I have in palettes with an angled brush. It looked hideous. I think I will need a dark - very dark - brown. I had heard good things about, I thought, Benefit? Or did I imagine that? Not near a Mac counter, have access to a boots with benefit, and then debenhams with urban decay, bare minerals, Clinique, Estée Lauder, Yves St Laurent. Ooh just thought, I think I might mean Bobbi Brown not Benefit?

I would get them tinted - have been getting mine done for about 6 months and it has made a huge difference.

Failing that, Benefit Brow Zings is good!

No, don't use black e/s - not a great look, too harsh. Cool cocoa brown and lighter cool brown work on me. Try on the color before purchasing - I was offered a lot of reddish browns before I found the right (gray) shade.

I love the Urban Decay brow box. It was £20 I think but I haven't even made a dent in it yet.

I'm chocolate brown hair with black gappy brows and pale skin. Rimmel do a black-brown eyebrow pemcil which is just the right shade for me

Benefit brow zings. Every time. I've repurchased many times. It comes in 3 different shades. I'd buy a good brush to apply it with though. Don't use the crappy one it comes with! X

Browzings is not very dark though, I've got the dark one and it is still definitely brown not brown-black, I've given up on it.

whoknows your eyebrows sound very similar to mine. Might check out the Rimmel pencil first so I can still afford my Liz Earle skin care this month

Probably too light for you OP (it's brown) but MUA do a good brow kit for about £3-4 - it's got a couple of brow shadows, Vaseline-type stuff, a highlighter and brush. Probably a copy of Brow Zings/UD

ilovemydog I get them threaded and tinted brown once a month ish at Benito in Debenhams. It's £18 but you can advance purchase so it's cheaper. You can buy home tint but I haven't tried it yet.

Agree tinting looks way the best. Had mine done yesterday for a night out tomorrow

Mine are too gappy for tinting to be any use, I keep thinking about tattoong but am a bit chicken about it.

I have really patchy eyebrows. Recently discovered bobbi brown natural brow shaper - it's like a small mascara. Looks very natural and makes your eyebrows look really well groomed. You can apply more coats depending how dark you want to go. One of my best finds!

Chocolate. Buy the eyelash/ brow thing. Rapidlash. It really works

It didn't work for me Brunella. I had alopecia a few years ago and although my head hair came back the eyebrows have never recovered.
