Cointreau I also have the Senteurs Gourmandes sample set, all of them make good day scents IMO, although the Musc Blanc smells very similar to Body Shop's White Musk.

Have been trying a few ELdO's- Vraie Blonde I was not too keen on. I think the Champagne note combined with a bit of fruitiness and something slightly chocolatey translated in my brain into a suggestion of alcohol related vomit. I do like Bendelirious though, soft leather and cherries. Sadly it didn't last that long on me and stayed very close to the skin so not a FB purchase.

Also managed to pick up a bargainous partial bottle of Juicy Couture from ebay. I never imagined I would love a JC fragrance, but as a tuberose lover, this is fab and a lot more wearable day to day than Fracas (although I still love and neeeed a FB of Fracas too!)

Gucci Envy again today, perfection for a sunny spring day!

CalamityKate · 02/05/2013 14:33

I used to love Ultima II Sheer Scent.

It was similar to Fahrenheit aftershave but lighter.

I was gutted when they discontinued it; does anyone know of anything similar?

ToysRLuv · 02/05/2013 20:25

Right, wore Kenzo Indigo today. It was possibly a bit better than I remembered.Later waded into a perfume shop and tried Eden and Dolce Vita. Dolce Vita was nicer than I thought it would be (tiny touch of acceptable knickeryness in the beginning and then sweet/woody) and I LOVE Eden. It's both green and sweet in a funny wet way. DM remarked that is smelled of honey and it kind of does. This goes on the "buy the fb" list.

ToysRLuv · 02/05/2013 20:29

Coffee: Quite surprised that JdP is so caramelly on you. On me it's not that sweet, although it is sort of a gourmand. I thought it was revolting and weird (definitely inedible) when I first got my decant, but my sense of smell is more refined now and I'm able to actually love it..

ToysRLuv · 02/05/2013 20:53

Calamity: It looks to me to be pretty similar in notes to Lyn Harris' Jasmin Vert (sort of woody green with violet leaf and jasmine).

Disclaimer:Don't know what either really smell like.

CalamityKate · 02/05/2013 22:57

Ooh thanks Toys!

CointreauVersial · 02/05/2013 23:11

Fuzzy - glad you are enjoying the Envy!

SOTD was L'Artisan Tea for Two. Perhaps not in keeping with the sunny weather, but I just fancied it. I ruined the effect at lunchtime by spraying myself with Yardley Old English Lavender in the local chemist. I think the bottle was off, it was ghastly. And I love lavender.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 02/05/2013 23:12

I love Gucci Envy so much I Think I could drink it. (but I won't).
Cointreau, you are Lady Bountiful indeed Thanks

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 02/05/2013 23:13

Cointreau, funnily enough I just bought a bottle of Yardley Lavender from Boots. I definitely notice the Geranium in it. It's nice for layering.

TERRICOVERLEYDoSAC · 03/05/2013 02:32

Hello, can I join you?

Good to see Ultima II Sheer Scent get a mention - trying to track an alterntive down. But most obsessed with a fantastic limited edition Lancome EDP (think from autumn 1996) which came in a tall skinny red tube, I think was called Feu Rouge, and smelt of bonfires. Here's the blurb from the time:

"To say Red without saying a word, Fred Farrugia has created a scarlet
explosion of noble wood, Oriental spices, soft amber, benzoin and musk.

Family: Woody oriental
Head : fresh citrus
Heart : spicy
Base : Woody and balsamique"

Anyone else remember this?

auldspinster · 03/05/2013 12:34

I always thought of the original Ivorie as being fresh, don't get dirty knicks from it at all, I don't get it from Boudoir either. I was at the Guerlain counter in Jenners a couple of days ago and as far as the SA is concerned Jardins De Bagatelle is still very much with us.

FrugalFashionista · 03/05/2013 14:13

At the airport trying Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Bianca - dodgy Italian grammar but rather like the scent!

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 03/05/2013 14:29

Welcome TERRICOVERLEY!

I don't remember that, but it sounds great!

TERRICOVERLEYDoSAC · 03/05/2013 17:29

It was!

Wondering too if anyone has tried any of the Jane Packer EDPs (noticed a job-lot appear to be being sold off TK Maxx) .

Had quick sniff from an opened bottle of rose, cyclamen and violet, and it reminded me a bit of Tom Ford's Noir de Noir?

OneLittleLady · 03/05/2013 17:37

Still looking for my Fb treat. Haven't found anything that really stands out to me yet but am going hunting at the weekend with DP. SOTD Black by Kenneth Cole. Very soft, powdery floral. Slightly sparkling in the top notes. Subtle but gets lots of compliments

ginmakesitallok · 03/05/2013 18:57

Just butting in to say that I've just bought a big bottle of womanity - I think it is fab and will now be my signature scent - who cares if smell like a woman's crotch - hell if my crotch smelt like that I'd bottle it and make a fortune!

Fuzzybirds · 03/05/2013 21:34

Terri Welcome! No need to worry about lowering the tone, I'm as happy sniffing uber niche scents as I am yardley or celeb perfumes. I've also wondered about the Jane Packer scents, Bath House is another I'm interested in. If the Jane Packer one smells like Noir de Noir I'll be on the lookout!

SOTD is the perfume parlour version of Montale's Black Aoud- Super rosey with a slightly medicinal/ bleachey opening. I've never tried anything Oudy before, I'm guessing this must be synthetic but it is otherwise a lovely rose. Very strong and long lasting. I see they now have a version of White Oud (feel another order coming on...)

Gin how funny, it's rare for me to dislike a scent but Womanity was a scrubber for me. I didn't get any crotch or knickers from it though!

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 04/05/2013 01:05

OneLittleLady- if you're looking for a FB treat, Cheap Smells is curently selling Balmain Jolie Madame for around £30 for 100ml. It's discontinued so this is a total bargain and smells divine. I've used Cheap Smells quite often and they are really good.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 04/05/2013 01:06

Womanity literally made me gag.

How the hell does anybody ever buy it?

ToysRLuv · 04/05/2013 09:10

Chocs: Womanity really isn't that bad Smile . I think it's different for everyone and varies between days as well. Also, I think some display bottles might be off (I often wonder that about the first bottle I smelled on an airport- it really made me recoil in horror and disbelief).

Also, I do think that some (definitely not all) scents are a bit of an acquired taste. You have to try them at least a couple of times to "get" them. For me Kelly Caleche and Jeux de Peau.

I only tried Womanity for a second time, because I wanted to demonstrate to a friend just how indescribably foul it was. But.. it just wasn't. Suddenly it was good! Confused

FrugalFashionista · 04/05/2013 09:54

SOTD Un Jardin sur le Nil.
I really liked Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Bianca - slight bitter tinge = mouthwatering. Hot weather rolling in, might be able to justify a FB Grin

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 04/05/2013 10:09

ToysRLuv- some of my favourite fragrances are those that I initially disliked. I gave First by Van Cleef and Arpels three chances and now I love it and would never be without it.

Similarly, Chergui was a bit meh the first two times, but then it was wonderful.

I could not try Womanity a third time because it really did make me physically gag. It was a carded sample from Escentual, so hadn't been light spoilt.

I almost always give a perfume a second or third chance, but Womanity really is the worst thing I have ever smelled! It was like gone off pastry with a hint of fish.

ToysRLuv · 04/05/2013 10:36

Fair enough, chocs! Smile

I'm wearing my vintage nina ricci belle de minuit. Gingerbread with a hint of dirty bird cage (if you've ever had birds, you know what I'm talking about - damp mixture of newspaper, seeds and birdpoo). Hmm.

Still lusting after Eden.

CointreauVersial · 04/05/2013 10:44

Hmm....gone-off pastry with a hint of fish.....don't think I'll be queuing up to try Womanity anytime soon....HmmGrin

I'm still in my PJs (slobbing out for a while before tackling the house, which is a pit), so currently unfragranced. I was however out with the girls last night, and wore Dior Oud Isphahan, of which I have only a few precious drops, gifted by FrugalFashionista. It is utterly gorgeous, rich, heavy oud, with a sultry rose in the background, and a little goes a very long way. I think a FB would last me a lifetime, but I may have to hunt down a decant.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 04/05/2013 12:04

I am wearing A Scent by Issely Miyake today as it's warm. It's even greener than Cristalle. It's very similar to Cristalle actually, maybe with fewer lemons and more greenery. It's gorgeous.
