I smelled one and to be quite honest, it smelled like soiled nappies to me Hmm

ToysRLuv · 28/04/2013 19:51

Maybe it was inspired by toddlers Grin

OneLittleLady · 28/04/2013 19:55

Haha, it must have been. Sure it was one of the Disney ones. Been testing out Valenetino Gold today. I like it, just not sure I like it enough for a FB.

ToysRLuv · 28/04/2013 20:08

It looks interesting. Only, ginger and lime don't work on me.. But because it totally divides opinion, you might find it on e-bay for a very good price..

Have you found anything to treat yourself with yet?

ToysRLuv · 28/04/2013 20:14

I think it's a sign of addiction when one of the highlights of a trip abroad is the ritual sniffing of perfumes in the tax free shops. I'm going on Tue. Yay! I'm hoping they'll stock Comptoir Sud Pacifique at this end, but they probably won't. Also the time between my flights in Schiphol's too short for any browsing.. Sad

OneLittleLady · 28/04/2013 20:36

I've not decided on anything yet, I'm still looking and testing things out in shops until something grabs me.

ToysRLuv · 28/04/2013 20:48

Smile Hope you find something worthy soon..

OneLittleLady · 28/04/2013 20:56

Once I find the one, I will know. I want it to be something special though, not an everyday kind of scent, IYSWIM?

ToysRLuv · 28/04/2013 20:58

Yes, definitely. What sort of thing are you looking for, btw?

OneLittleLady · 28/04/2013 21:00

I want something slightly oriental and woody I think. Something a bit more sophisticated than I usually wear. I'll gladly take any suggestions of things for me to try out. I'm going over to the nearest big city to me soon and they have a John Lewis with a fab perfume department so I plan to go nuts in there until I find something!

ToysRLuv · 28/04/2013 21:11

Lutens' Feminite du Bois is meant to be good, but I have't tried it yet. It's also got several sisters: e.g. Bois de violette.

I'm assuming you don't anything vanillay/gourmand? How about incense or amber? Spices?

OneLittleLady · 28/04/2013 21:13

I like amber and spices, not so keen on incense as it reminds me of being a sullen gothic teenager!! I love violets though so that could be a good starting point for testing things out. I think I have enough gourman scents at the minute and I have plenty of florals as well. Just want soemthing with a bit of depth really.

OneLittleLady · 28/04/2013 21:13

gourmand even Hmm

coffeeinbed · 28/04/2013 21:15

Feminite du Bois is a wonder.
I adore it, was heartbroken when they stopped making it and then reformulated.
The new rectangular bottle one is worth trying, it's different than the original though.
Bois de Violette is a close relative as well.

coffeeinbed · 28/04/2013 21:16

No incense in it.

OneLittleLady · 28/04/2013 21:26

Will have a look for both those suggestions. I do hop John Lewis comes up trumps, I want something NOW not in a months time Grin

ToysRLuv · 28/04/2013 21:27

Yes, try Bois de Violette. If you're at the Lutens counter, maybe try Ambre Sultan, and Santal Majuscule, as well.

OneLittleLady · 28/04/2013 21:44

I think I may drive the John Lewis staff mad with all my demands. I want it to be the perfect scent though or as close as I can get. I've had a really tough year so far, for various reasons and want to have the right thing instead of just any old thing like I normally settle for

ToysRLuv · 28/04/2013 21:49

I'm sure they won't mind. The Lutens counter people should be used to connoisseurs Smile

OneLittleLady · 28/04/2013 21:50

I'm a mere amateur compared to some of you ladies! I just know what I like even if no one else agrees with me!

ToysRLuv · 28/04/2013 21:55

That's the way it should be. Perfume is a very personal and subjective thing.Smile

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 29/04/2013 10:05

Cinnabar is a great oriental. It's been part of the furniture for so long it kind of goes under the radar sometimes, but although its mainstream, I've only met one person who wears it, and she is a real connoisseur when it comes to Perfume.

coffeeinbed · 29/04/2013 10:17

OLL a good one - at least it used to be - is Dioressence.
beautiful oriental.
Definitely worth trying.

OneLittleLady · 29/04/2013 11:12

Thanks for all the suggestions, gives me plenty of things to start with before i delve into the real unknown for me! There's so many scents to choose from though, I usually get overwhelmed and end up buying the first one I liked instead of going away and thinking about it. I won't make that mistake again

coffeeinbed · 29/04/2013 11:23

Sorry, Got the initials wrong!
Never ever buy as soon as you like something,
I find that if I like something immediately then I get bored with it very quickly.
If I have to come back to a scent and keep smelling and thinking about it, even if I dislike it at first then there's something more to it.
Hope that makes sense.
