Frugal, I've always had a soft spot for In Love Again, and was very chuffed they brought it back.

SOTD is Bel Respiro. Very soft, green and polite, but nice for a day chilling in the back garden and reading the papers.

Fuzzybirds · 21/04/2013 20:13

Toys what a lovely reminder of your Grandma! My Nan used to wear Devon Violets, which is probably why I love violet scents so much. By the way, I have tried the 'Goddess in Bronze' and am quite impressed, lovely coconut and white flowers. I'm not sure how close this is to the original as it's been a few years since I tried the real thing, but the lasting power is amazing- I'm still getting wafts of coconut and I must have put it on around 8am!

In other news, DH is in my very good books as he treated me to a bottle of Chamade today Grin I think this has trumped Coco as my all time favourite so far (still want to smell more though!)

I also tried Jardins de Bagatelle and love this too, love the violets in the opening and tuberose underneath it all. DH tried L'Instant Pour Homme in the EDP, which he wasn't keen on but I think is very unisex and wouldn't mind myself

FrugalFashionista · 21/04/2013 20:52

Heard from a usually reliable source that Jardin des Bagatelles is being discontinued. So is apparently one of my all-time favorites Sad

coffeeinbed · 21/04/2013 21:00

Haven't seen Jardin des Bagatelles for ages, thought it was long gone...
Wasn't that mimosa?
or am I confusing it with Champs d'Elyseés? [which I misspelt in a criminal way]

Fuzzybirds · 21/04/2013 21:25

Oh no Frugal, that's just my luck. I wonder if DH is still feeling generous...
Coffee my nose is still very much in training so there could be mimosa in there too- it definitely has a tuberose base but it's quite light and radiant feeling.

ToysRLuv · 21/04/2013 21:27

Ooh Fuzzy! Which do you reckon is better then, Goddess in Bronze Grin or Bobbie's Beach Grin ? I'd like a really beachy scent, reminiscent of suntan lotion etc.. I think I might get both, though. Have you gotten any other good ones from PP that I should consider?

Byzence's worn off now. Smell of soil and woodchips now (have been frantically gardening, because of the unusually good weather. Have planted all veg and most of the flowers. Also weeded and covered flower beds and sides of hedges with (very damp) woodchip.

I think I might smell like Demeter's "Zombie for men" now. If I have a glass of red wine and dribble some on my front I will then smell of "Zombie for women" Grin

www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Demeter-Fragrance/Zombie-for-Him-18190.html

Who do you think would actually wear these? I think a teenage goth, maybe, to piss her parents off Confused ?

coffeeinbed · 21/04/2013 21:57

Sorry, Fuzzy, I mixed them up.
So many Guerlains, so little memory left!

Fuzzybirds · 22/04/2013 10:21

Toys of the two, Goddess in Bronze is more suntan lotiony. Bobbie's beach was a bit harsh to start off but still a nice summery scent once it settled down.

PP has a massive range and I only have ten, but of those I like their versions of Hypnotic Poison and Shalimar best. I'm wearing 'Black Afghanos' today and to me, this is a lovely sweet, smoky ambery fragrance. I've not tried the real thing so not sure how it compares, although DH says it smells very waccy baccy! The Samsara and Black Orchid ones don't really smell like the originals- they have a resemblance but to me are missing something. They do an offer of 5 x 3ml roll on bottles for £10 and I find the oil goes a long way so you don't need much (especially if you like chopping and changing like me!)

Hmmmm the Zombie perfumes look interesting! Maybe they would come in handy in the event of a zombie invasion- perhaps you don't get eaten if you smell like them Grin

ToysRLuv · 22/04/2013 12:41

Yes, maybe I should get a bottle of Zombie just in case.. or there's always the option of simply rolling around on my massive compost heap. Grin I would have to remember to remove the spiky bush I uprooted yesterday first or the smell of blood from the wounds might attract them (or will it.. dh would know).

I have now ordered both Bobby and Goddess, as well as Gracie B (Baby Grace - my bottle if edt us getting low), Special Grin (Sicily) and their version of Chloe Love (let's see if I can handle the oil better than the original perfume).. Bargain for a tenner! Will get some more if I like them.

ToysRLuv · 22/04/2013 12:49

SOTD: ck Truth. Nice I guess. I used to really love it when it came out, and thought that it was sooo different to all the other perfumes I'd sniffed before.. lovely crisp and green. But, yes, now it's just ok. I get bored so easily.. Smile

Do any if you have a signature scent?Or are we all still searching for the ONE? Actually, there might not be a ONE for me after all. There might be 50 Grin

CointreauVersial · 22/04/2013 18:01

I always had a signature scent in the "old days" (which changed every couple of years). For a long time I didn't wear scent every day, so it took me ages to get through a bottle, by which time I was thoroughly bored with it.

But now I'm a complete fragrance tart!

SOTD is SL Gris Clair, which is a nice one for work. It always smells like vetiver to me, even though it isn't listed as an ingredient - oh well. And it's one of the rare fragrances to get the thumbs up from the DCs.

FrugalFashionista · 22/04/2013 18:10

I think the signature scent ideology is serving the manufacturers (tricking you into repeat purchasing and trying to make gift purchases more straightforward) but after I discovered sampling - say 20 new experiences for the price of one FB - there is no going back. Yes, I like No. 19 and Miriam and Loretta and Vega and La Pausa... But every day until the bottle is finished? I don't think so Grin

ToysRLuv · 23/04/2013 14:02

I think you're absolutely right about the signature scent being a marketing trick, but it also kind of appeals to my romantic side : That there could be one scent that totally embodies me etc. Not likely though, since I'm not sure who "me" is most of the time Smile

Today wearing about 6 different samples (far from ideal, I know, but got a bit carried away) that came in the post today from histoires de parfums. I like Ambre 114 most. Blanc Violette wasn't quite what I thought it would be, but ok. Moulin Rouge was nice until the drydown, which on me us quite bitter. Tubereuses 1and2 are ok, but I meant to get the animale one, which everyone us always on about. 1826 has disappeared from my arm already. Oh well.

Tomorrow will baste Grin myself in the oils that came in the post today already.

FrugalFashionista · 23/04/2013 14:12

Super-stressful day but work on a tight deadline is progressing well: I think Miriam is keeping me glued together.

Am growing fonder and fonder of supersmart aldehydes - they are an acquired taste and quite unique these days. Looking forward to the new Tauer! Also thinking about a FB of Guerlain's Vega - my sample is nearly finished. Although I like the racehorse beauty of Le Labo Aldehyde and Chanel No. 22, these sensual but pulled-together cool-warm juxtapositions (Miriam, Vega) are really my favorites.

coffeeinbed · 23/04/2013 14:15

Today - Eau du Fier.
Been dusting dressing table and so put some on as a treat.

coffeeinbed · 23/04/2013 14:17

Just read on Boisdejasmin that CdG will bring out something called Black - birch tar and whatnot.
Can't wait to smell it.

OneLittleLady · 23/04/2013 16:12

Today's little treat was a touch of Coco Madamoiselle. I've been waiting and waiting to put some on from the teeny bottle that pocketandsweet kindly sent me and decided today was the day. I just love it and am saving up for a FB. Shame my birthday has already passed this year otherwise I would have been dropping some heavy hints to DP.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 23/04/2013 17:02

ToysRLuv-I used to have a signature scent throughout my 20s and early 30s, but now I much prefer to have a scent wardrobe. My favourite part of the day is choosing how I'm going to smell. It's 5 mins that's just for me and not for DH or the kids or anyone else.

In my case it's a little to do with my identity. I am more sure of myself now so having a signature scent doesn't matter to me so much. Plus I've realised life's too short to stick to one when there are so many wonderful, evocative scent out there!

ToysRLuv · 23/04/2013 17:58

Frugal: I really like the idea of Miriam, but probably couldn't get past the aldehydes.. I'm really challenged by them.

coffee: I love the smell of tar. Where I come from we have tar sweets and tar syrup ice cream salivates.

Chocs: Yes, I'm definitely coming round to the fact that I'm very promiscuous (with scents), and it's good.

I'm really liking ambre 114, but it's possibly a touch dull (predictably).

pocketandsweet · 23/04/2013 18:12

onelittlelady I'm so pleased it has found a happy home! It is such a sweet little bottle but it just was not me. I'm glad it is you though:)

CointreauVersial · 23/04/2013 18:36

Diptyque Volutes today - I absolutely love it, and can see myself shelling out for a decant or FB when this sample is finished.

coffeeinbed · 23/04/2013 19:30

I'm well on that Cointreau.
I can see it in my life, after the summer.

coffeeinbed · 23/04/2013 19:31

On that way.
Blimey. i'm useless today.

kiwigirl42 · 23/04/2013 20:16

I'm wearing Caron Parfum Sacre today. it smells like potpourri to me - dusty, spicy roses. Its OK so far ...

pocketandsweet · 24/04/2013 08:09

SOTD. Calandre. I love this so much:)
