Are these shoes hideous?

Orthopedic or stylish? I just can't make up my mind.

I need a full shoe for walking about in wettish weather with a baby/buggy. I only really wear brown shoes. Brogues usually, with high waisted wide legged trousers or knee length a line skirts/dresses.

germyrabbit · 07/03/2013 21:14

those brogues are like the shoes i had when i was 5 in the 70s

moondog · 07/03/2013 21:16

Clarks do some cracking shoes these days.
I like an androgynous shoe meself.
I'd go desert boot or chelsea boot but those better with jeans I think.

MrsKoala · 07/03/2013 21:16

Anyfucker - i own 2 pairs of wellies but i want something classic and stylish, no heel, brown, leather, 40's, androgynous, smart, quirky...

i missed the boat this winter and now the shops are empty and i'm moving to Vancouver and need shoes for rain :(

Talking of Clarks, have you thought about goretex? It is totally waterproof and is nice in this classic style?

Paribus · 07/03/2013 21:18

I think they are very nice.

MrsKoala · 07/03/2013 21:19

I was looking at the oxblood dm's in office but not keen on the roundness of toe.

I wanted something a bit more hard wearing than brogues tho. I have a lovely pair of tan ones from Jones, but they are not warm or that dry. i know canadian prices are thru the roof so i wanted to stock up before we go. harrumph!

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 07/03/2013 21:20

I was going to suggest DM's

Those shoes will cope with Canada !

MrsKoala · 07/03/2013 21:22

Sorry LeChat they are foul. they look like some bad rocker shoes mated with gardening wellies. Thanks anyway :)

I also hate chelsea boots with a bizarre burning in my soul (no idea why). And i never wear black.

MrsKoala · 07/03/2013 21:24

oh no, i know what they look like, like those twee shoe flower pots people have Grin Sorry, i am grateful...honest Wink

OP posts:
Speedos · 07/03/2013 21:24

Gawd they remind me of an awful mistake of a man I was seeing once, he used to wear them!

Speedos · 07/03/2013 21:26

On a more helpful note have you looked at www.javari.com it is Amazon's shoe site, it's wonderful!

Speedos · 07/03/2013 21:27

Sorry wrong URL try www.javari.co.UK

Startail · 07/03/2013 21:29

OP peoples are being silly those are perfectly nice practical, but stupidly expensive, boots.

But, i live in Clarks mum boots so I may not be the person for style advice.

BikeRunSki · 07/03/2013 21:31

I rather like those metallic Anthropologie ones....

MrsKoala · 07/03/2013 21:33

hmmm i think it's the sole i'm not keen on/sure about. Why make it so bulky and black? i like the general shape and colour of the shoe tho. dammit. my feet are wet and no one cares!

OP posts:
MrsKoala · 07/03/2013 21:34

yes, you are right. they are too expensive. i'll never find any shoes. i'm living in converse at the mo and my feet are cold and wet :(

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 07/03/2013 21:35

Put your wellies on, lady

moondog · 07/03/2013 21:35

Are you anywhere here Bike?

Chubfuddler · 07/03/2013 21:37

They are AWFUL

MrsKoala · 07/03/2013 21:37

no, they don't go with anything and my trousers balloon over the top like pantaloons.

Bessie123 · 07/03/2013 21:40

mrskoala I love the shoes you linked to in your op

khaleesidragon · 07/03/2013 21:42

I think they're nice but you could get some very similar for a lot cheaper i'm sure.

UnrequitedSkink · 07/03/2013 21:42

You CAN get Clarks in Canada btw.

britishbakeoff · 07/03/2013 21:47

What about these

I have them and like them. What do other people think?

MrsKoala · 07/03/2013 21:49

oh yeah, they're nice. for some reason tho i think they look more clumpy than the ones i linked. thanks. i may buy them. hmmm
