It had to be done.
Phew that feels better.
Over here crepeys. All very welcome (but only if you're crepey).

Have it bookmarked on my iPad - when I am reunited with it tomorrow will post...

beachyhead · 09/02/2013 16:11

On my belated way home after roaming around London with my dd1 doing art and photography exhibitions.

It was lovely to meet you all, everyone was as interesting and lovely as I knew you all would be. What a great collective!

motherinferior · 09/02/2013 16:20

I too had fab time and was really pleased to see you all. Have also had a haircut today in the distinctly non-Parisian but rather good considering how cheap it is local salon and added to my red lipstick collection while accompanying DD1 round the clothing emporia of Bromley (ahem. I love DD1 beyond life but THERE ARE LIMITS).

motherinferior · 09/02/2013 16:21

Lippie from the new Superdrug B range btw, rather good if quite sheer and glossy. A Weekend Red.

bigTillyMint · 09/02/2013 17:04

Have now recovered (after copious amounts of tea/coffee/diet coke... and testing the millionaires shortbread and brownies for this evening!) Twas, as everyone said, great to meet up and drink lots but next time I think it should be a crepery we eat atGrin

herbaceous · 09/02/2013 20:39

Yo crepesters! What a very fun evening. Lovely to meet the new (to me) hags OQ, BD and Beachy, and I can even remember one real name! And OQ - you simply must tell us what that lipstick was. Such a nice colour, and didn't budge all night. And what do you do to your skin? It's amazing. Bit of an OQ fan here...

Funny old day today. Had a spot of gyppy batty in the night (hopefully nothing to do with the food), then to the inlaws. Just about to sit down to lunch, when they get a phonecall saying DP's uncle had been found dead. Further phonecalls reveal it was a suicide. No-one can understand it - he had a very contented life, retired, all seemed fine. We suspect some pretty hefty secrets may be uncovered in the next few weeks. Had to do a mercy dash to Hemel Hempsted to drop supportive relatives, which included negotiating the Devil's Roundabout - made up of five smaller roundabouts. So you go both ways round the main roundabout. Crazy.

CointreauVersial · 09/02/2013 21:44

Herbs, so sorry to hear about DH's uncle. Suicide just leaves a massive fall-out.

By the way, if you think the roundabout in Hemel is tricky, try negotiating it in your driving test, as I had to.

Blackduck · 09/02/2013 23:02

Oh Herbs that is so awful.
Gippy Tum - you been on the linseed? Smile

I would have liked more time with everyone - such a fascinating group of women Grin

bigTillyMint · 10/02/2013 08:29

Oh dear Herbs. That must be a terrible shock for everyone, especially the oldies.

Having fully recovered from my hangover last night, I got woken early by my goddaughter and siblings.... So glad mine are teens/pre-teensSmile

herbaceous · 10/02/2013 08:31

Now looks like it might be an accident, rather than suicide. Unbelievably, due to cuts, the coroner's office isn't open at the weekend, so no-one's actually been able to identify the body yet. So they've got to wait until tomorrow to find out if it's definitely him. All the signs say it is, but still....

motherinferior · 10/02/2013 09:45

O Herbs. Awful and stressful all round.

Sorry to hear Herbs..

Ruby you have no worries in the skin department! I, on the other hand, are way crepeier than the lot of you - yes OQ - what gives?

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/02/2013 10:19

Herbs - how horrible and stressful for you all.

I wanted to meet OQ, BD and BH!

I have a horrible headache that I can't shift (not drink related, only had one glass last night) and we are going out to a birthday party this afternoon, so it needs to be sorted by then.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/02/2013 10:20

Hair is looking less blonde and more ginger this morning. Confused

motherinferior · 10/02/2013 10:29

And you have a problem with that, missis Grin?

wilbur · 10/02/2013 10:48

Morning ladies! Glad you all had a good time on Fri, sounds like a lot of fun. Our showing at the quiz was middling to poor partly due to dh and I being too polite to disagree strongly with someone else on our team that we didn't know. Also not enough questions about film, theatre and sport, which is where our strengths lie. We met lots of nice people though, which was fun and had a great time. Also discovered that ds1 has invited a girl he likes to the Valentine Disco next Fri Shock, although after a traumatic biology lesson this week watching a film about puberty "we had to look at an erection through a heat-sensitive camera!", I think he's going to remain at the hand-holding stage for some time Grin.

wilbur · 10/02/2013 10:53

Herbs, so sorry about your dh's uncle. A sudden death is a dreadful thing for a family, no matter what the cause. Hope your in-laws have lots of support.

alto1 · 10/02/2013 11:13

hello everyone, sounds as though meet-up was almost unbelievably decorous - or is there a discretion pact?

I Fagiolini were brilliant & lots of good friends were there too but I'd love to meet you all another time.

sorry to hear about uncle's sudden death and really hope it's not suicide...

bigTillyMint · 10/02/2013 11:33

Oh it was very decorous - we are crepeys, after allWink

Ruby, I meant to say, your hair looked lovely. As did your cleavage!Smile

And I think OQC is the future in good skin and chic grey hairSmile

Small children (and parents!) are now gone... may have to brave Primarni with DD who needs a new pair of superskinnies, gulp.

hattymattie · 10/02/2013 12:28

Ooh - you lot sound well glam. Glad you had a good evening though.

I'm still nursing nasty cold/virus thing that has now gone on for five days!

Riding high on nurofen.

Blackduck · 10/02/2013 14:08

Yoo hoo Stropps (and others) graunuiad article on how to survive being 13 here

Stropperella · 10/02/2013 16:06

Herbs, that sounds very traumatic. I hope there are some answers soon from the coroner.

Wilbur, hope to see you at the next meet-up. Glad to hear the quiz evening was socially rewarding, though!

All these tales of young teens and pre-teens with girlfriends and boyfriends. I'm now beginning to wonder if I should worry about dd (15 in July) being backward. She recently announced (somewhat tongue in cheek) "I've got my hamster, I don't need boys. They're disgusting." OTOH, I'm also happy if this state of affairs goes on for quite a long time. Grin

Thanks for the link to the Graun. No. 8 is a bit of a constant theme in our house and we haven't even done a teenage party yet. In fact, I think dd's only been to one party in the last several years. Either no one ever invites her to anything (possible) or none of the parents of her friends have strong enough nerves to hold a party for their 14 or 15 year old.

bigTillyMint · 10/02/2013 16:11

Strops, I am beginning to wish DD had a hamsterGrin

Yes the Grauniad article is spot on (having a 13yo!) I have to confess that I do not even attempt to get DD to do set chores as she always seems busy with homework and spends so much time doing gym and footyBlush

Thankfully so far no teenage parties (other than girlie sleepovers, etc), but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Not in our house though. EverGrin

CointreauVersial · 10/02/2013 16:15

Stil well jel that I missed the meetup. Envy Envy

What a filthy day it is today. I have no intention of leaving the house, and waved the boys off to football from the comfort of my warm bed. I had a phone call from DS as he was on his way home, with instructions to have a hot bath and a hot chocolate at the ready; the poor chap was so frozen and soaked with mud I had to undress him on the doorstep. They lost 8-1, DS forgot his under-armour, and the team had to push-start the manager's car in the sleet. Character-building.Grin
