Very interesting choice of partnership, can't quite get my head around that.

kiss of death

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/01/2013 16:02

Indeed noddy - honestly why not just throw your brand away.

noddyholder · 27/01/2013 16:06

Maybe he knows its on the way out and is cashing in.

Levantine · 27/01/2013 16:08

It's a bit Orla Kiely isn't it - expand expand expand while you can.

polyhymnia · 27/01/2013 17:59

Clements Ribeiro do collections for Evans. But personally I still wouldn't buy from Evans, even though I'm within their target range!

winefairy · 27/01/2013 18:46

This really surprises me somehow. In a bad way.

shine0ncrazydiamond · 27/01/2013 22:16

Well, I have the feathers bracelet and I always wear the gold pear necklace.

I am not sure about this collaboration

Glossynotflossy · 28/01/2013 18:24

I really thought people would be more positive. From what i gather its only a small range

OP posts:
HollyBollyBooBoo · 28/01/2013 19:33

Why did you think it would be a positive reaction - just interested, no judgement!

Glossynotflossy · 28/01/2013 20:13

A high end designer at good prices. I thought the over riding feeling would be positive

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 28/01/2013 20:20

Umm, I just think those type of collaborations ultimately de-value a brand. And I know AM has been on here before so if he happens to see this thread Wink - well you've put me off your full price stuff now.

polyhymnia · 28/01/2013 22:30

I think his stuff has already been a bit devalued by being widely copied. There are already masses of little bees, birds , etc on the high St.

The original things are still pretty . But they don't suit me because I'm tall and large and they're too tiny, itsy-bitsy, and delicate for me. I need something a bit bigger and bolder. I find it particularly ironic therefore he's designing for Evans.

I have the baby bee in silver and it is lovely. But it still does devalue brands when they do these collaborations - so from AM's perspective may well be short term financial gain but long term losses.

I mean Clements Riberio weren't exactly doing well when they collaborated so I get why they would do it.

And as poly says there were lots of copies out there anyway.

MrsCampbellBlack · 29/01/2013 10:08

I guess to me its the fashion equivalent of going I'm a celebrity or something Wink

winefairy · 29/01/2013 10:43

Matthew Williamson and Debenhams. Never understood that one either. He was incredibly popular when he first collaborated with them and his designs just didn't lend themselves to being mass produced in cheap fabric.

MW was all about intricate beading and gorgeous colour and texture. How was he ever going to replicate that with any honesty?

JumpHerWho · 29/01/2013 12:06

Puts me off too, I saw it as quite an aspirational brand if that's the right term - have been lusting after a necklace since I ordered one from Red Direct during their discount fiasco and it failed to arrive. Doesn't bother me that it's copied, but I agree with MrsCB that its a bit like doing I'm a Celeb for designers!

valiumredhead · 29/01/2013 12:13

poly where do you buy your clothes? Genuine question btw!

polyhymnia · 29/01/2013 12:35

Boden - have some nice dresses and tops from there, a result of hugely careful selection (NOT fun prints or anything else obviously Boden-y).

All my jeans - mainly skinny- are NYDJ (again carefully chosen). Worth the money for the fit.

A few long tops from M and S Autograph - though, alas, they seem to have gone downhill recently.

And Marina Rinaldi - the plus size label of Max Mara. All my coats/parkas/ trenches are from there. I prefer to get them in Italy when I can, because they have a much wider selection than the Bond St store, and are cheaper. (Can't buy it online).

valiumredhead · 29/01/2013 12:39

Ok thanks Grin I was interested in seeing if you would say Style 369, there seems to be a lot of sneering about Evans but then saying that Style is better - when in fact it's the same company and same clothes Grin

polyhymnia · 29/01/2013 12:42

No they are both too down-market for my liking, I'm afraid. The Marina Rinaldi site isn't that great and you do have to look if you want to find the more relaxed/ youthful stuff as opposed to classics.
