So tell.....,do you own a pair of snow boots?

Hi,
Up until now, myself and dc have always made do with wellies but have decided to treat ourselves to some snow boots. Loads of choice for kids but apart from the really expensive lovely north face ones I've seen for myself, Im not sure if the shell type fabric ones are a bit 'old lady' ish. I have seen a few pairs that I like but am unsure if they are going to put 20 years on me!
Do you wear snow boots and if so, any recommendations would be appreciated.

I have Timberland snow boots they are so warm and comfy but they have stretched alot since buying them so are too big now. I will buy them again next year in a size smaller they are worth every penny

Waling boots from Aldi! I have proper Swedish snow boots, but they have better grip and are much lighter.

I have an old pair of biker boots...plastic with a sniffly lining but my feet get cold in them. I am tempted by those Timberland Earthkeepers...help...thoughts?
I have a pair of Uggs but they aren't snowproof...suade uppers and I use them as slipper ;0)

Yes, ds has Lidl ones: great and very cosy.

Dd has Muck Boots in purple for all the outdoor eventualities in which she might be unfortunate enough to be called on to partake (not an outdoorsy girl!)

I have North Face boots, they were reduced but still dear, and they are (whispers) not that warm.... The fur on the top does not go all the way inside, disappointingly. They are, however, very good for gripping icy surfaces.

can you drive in any of them ?

I have some great walking boots (have wide calves so cant have full size boots)but are too heavy etc to drie in . I often have to drive on cleared main roads & then tramp along snowy/icy side paths etc.

If it's proper cold though, I have been known to wear my nordic ski boots

I got some from Mountain Warehouse, mainly for standing around watching DS play football. They are definitely not fashionable but they are super warm, water proof, you can walk for miles in them and drive perfectly well too. All for about £24 if I remember rightly. I have been living in them the last few days.

I have sorrel boots which I bought when I lived in NY. They are now nearly 10 yrs old and still great! Well worth the price tag. I have been through many harsh winters in various countries and never once had cold or wet toes.

Quite a few different ones to look at there, will start at the top and work my way down, feel quite excited about my first pair of snow boots now!

Bought super cheap in the Netherlands so probably not much use but so cosy and waterproof

I've got a pair of merrell dauphines, bought in a sale, and hey haven't been off my feet for weeks. Super comfy, warm and grippy, and good for country type walks whether its snowing or not. Most impressed.

Mine are Merrell Prevoz Highly recommended as I have warm dry toes and can also wear them on a normal cold day and not look like a plonker!

I have chunky calves-can't fit into normal knee high boots-would the merrell Oslo be too narrow or are they a widish fit?

The Oslos have a lace-up bit at the back so adjustable for wide calves.

I bought a pair a couple in years ago in the sales, as I get really cold feet in the snow.

They are nothing fashionable, but only £15 from Milletts.

If you want cheap and functional, Groupon often do them.

They are amazing. V warm and they have a bit one the soles you can flip out to give you extra traction when it is really icy. I think snow and rock has sold out now though as they are no longer showing on the website.

I have very chunky calves - can only get boots from Duo. The Oslo fits fine on me.

I got some from Animal for £12.50 down from £65, they've been great this week, cosy and warm and i can sludge through muddy, mushy snow no problem. i'd say it's definitely worth it

I got these last week, my feet have been super-cosy & they actually look pretty good too - am v pleased.

I have something almost identical to this Next snow boots - I bought them 2 years ago when we had the really heavy snow. They are brilliant, so warm & waterproof and fleecy lined.

About 2 winters ago I decided that snow boots were the way to go for weeks like we have just had. So I bought some Lands' End kids snow boots in the sale (they go up to size 5 so you don't have to have tiny tiny feet for them). But I do only wear them when it is actually snowy or slushy.

I also have a pair of the Brasher winter lined knee length boots for more presentable days. I decided that as my feet don't grow like children's do, that I won't grow out of them and they will last for years. I hope.

I have today bought some in the Land's End sale (extra 25% off today), with some waterproof thermal gloves. We don't get loads of snow here in the SW, so hopefully these will last me for a very, very long time. Sledging with the children and snowball fights just aren't that fun when your gloves are cold and wet, and your wellies leave you with numb toes!

I've got some Tresspass ones (black ,waterproof with a zip and a toggley thing)
