25, have 3 lovely small children

Currently work from home (but a job interview on Sunday for the police)

I have no clothes that fit or suit. I was a size 8. I'm not any more. I weigh 12.10 and I'm 5ft 7

I'm also losing my hair (allopecia) and its getting me down. I no longer wear my hair down

I look like a fat frumpy mess and its really getting me down. I've just stopped breast feeding reluctantly but the only bras I can get on me are 2 breast feeding bras.

I don't have that much £ but I would like to buy some thing to start me off on a road to be happier about what I look like whilst I try to loose 2 1/2 stone.

Help!

I have larger love handles and a horrid mum Tum.

First of all don't be too hard on yourself. You have 3 dc and it's bloody hard work!

Is your alopecia just because of post pregnancy or is there another underlying reason? If you haven't it may be worth going to your gp for a blood test in case of low iron or thyroid imbalance. You say you never wear your hair down anymore so presumably it's long? How about a trip to the hairdressers to get a shorter style?

Personally I wouldn't spend too much yet if you plan to lose weight. Once your boobs settle get a good bra. If you really want to buy something now how about some jewellery or handbag or shoes?

In terms of weight loss , there's a few of us on this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1653402-Anyone-want-to-loose-just-a-few-pounds-lets-support-eachother using the my fitness plan app. You're only 25 the weight should fall off unlike my nearly 40 self Grin

Also, before buying new clothes think about what you really want/need so that you don't make any expensive mistakes.

Hi, I'm also 25 and have 2 children, previous size 8, but after said children have gotten back to a size 10. I've struggled with my shape and size and what suits me. The best thing I did was to go to Debinhams and meet teh personal shopper and be shown what looks ok and try on lots of diffrent styles.
I've wear a lot of jumper dresses with leggins and skinnies with cardigans. I'm not saying I'm stylish, I'm far from it! I recently bough a plain black jumper dress from tesco and with some coloured accessories it looks quite nice (I cant find it to link to, but it was about £14 and has washed really well)

this one which looks really nice on, I have it in the other colour

BeebiesQueen · 22/01/2013 21:12

I actually agree with queen, nice accessories can make most outfits look nice.

Re hair - it's scaring allopecia. I have a bald patch as big as the palm of my hand at the back / top (where you'd tie a pony tail) so can't have it shorter as it wouldn't tie back and you'd see it

I would say to get yourself a nice fitting bra, I got a gorgeous one in the debenhams sale for £6 and starting with new underwear helps a little.

I'm watching with interest as Im a couple of years older than you, but look very frumpy and overweight.

Good luck with your interview, is it an officer or civvy role?

OnlyWantsOne · 22/01/2013 21:29

It's a civvy role - but I really want to work for them. Ideally id like to be in the force but no one is recruiting locally

Being in certainly helps in recruitment stakes, when they eventually open the books again but fingers crossed for the job now!

Sorry for the derail! Smile

Oooo you sound like you know what you're talking about ;)

I started losing my hair thanks to psoriasis, I'm 27.
I found some bloody good wigs on ebay, less than £20 each and people are either just being really nice or they cant tell they are wigs :)

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 22/01/2013 22:40

here they are

wewereherefirst · 22/01/2013 23:31

I joined up many moons ago then fell pregnant and couldn't train my friends are in the job and I do keep looking to do it again, have you looked at specials? Much fun and also very good for competencies Wink

But back to clothing- could you get to a department store so they can see what styles suit you and then go hunting on the high street? Scarves too, I love scarves, in the summer I use light weight ones as headbands and occasionally I wear them to sinch in floaty dresses.

I think I may have given 'style' advice! Eeek.
