What is everyone wearing in the cold weather?

Does anyone give a stuff at the moment or is the aim just to keep warm?

I have been wearing:

Jeans/jeggings/thick leggings
Long sleeved jersey tee (usually Boden, one thing they do well)
Long cardie on top
Uggs

I'm bored though! Maybe I should dress it up with some jewellery!

Not enough.

Normal clothes but with ski jacket, ski gloves, walking boots with yak trax attached.

I've been wearing my thermals underneath what I'd normally wear. Old fashioned, but cosy.

Dr Marten 8 hole boots in black patent, thick cashmere military jacket in navy, ski gloves, charcoal and silver grey pashmina (or navy and silver grey sometimes), skinny jeans with thick tights underneath, plus 3 layers of tops (vest, cowl neck jersey and thin black waterfall jackety thing). I use necklaces and makeup to add some variety. The relentlessness of it is tedious, but it's very practical without looking outdoorsy.

I'm wishing I had bought one of those padded, to the calf jacket, with a fur hood. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOO cold....

I wish I'd got more in the way of Winter clothes too. It's been so mild until now, and I didn't want to do a repeat of the Summer, with my unworn sandals and other nice bits and bobs.

Long top, jumper, coat. Scarf, hat and long gloves. Feels good outside but always want to take it off inside quickly, so much stuff.

Plus have some old Italian flat boots with a good grip I never wear and keep just for snow.

So leggings or skinnies (or both), heat tech tops, then a dress or nice top, jumper/cardi. Then when outdoors a coat, scarf, hat, gloves, etc.

I like wearing dresses and jumpers, it's surprising how many summer dresses can turn into good winter layers.

Same in general really.

I have some merrell taiga? I think boots and they are lovely and waterproof, we were out sledging for over an hour yesterday and my feet were warm the whole time, I wore leggings under my jeans and I have a didriksons Veronica coat which is lovely and warm too.

Merrells over here with duck and down and ski sallopetes when sledging and out with children. ( same as a lot of other mums in the park) no one cares its about being warm.

I second the layers option. Then u get to wear all your stuff. Just add thermals, thicker socks, hats, thick scarves. And uggs of course. so warm

Am I the only one to have gone for impractical chic? I'm wearing normal officey clothes (grey checked mini, black tights, black T-shirt) with the addition of a big burgundy cardigan and knee-high Kurt Geiger boots with a high wedge heel. My coat is grey Russian-style knee-length, so it nearly meets the boots when I'm outside. I'm in Scotland where we're used to the cold, mind you.

I really want some flat knee-high boots that would do for work. I am v fussy and like my feet to look small, so Uggs don't work for me.

I take it as carte Blanche to dress like a lunatic

Well I was shocked when I was complimented twice whilst out walking yesterday as opposed to paint balled which was more like I expected I've been struggling so much with the cold that I actually dug out a full length vintage mink coat I've hardly worn - not the best look for the school run, but sod it - not sure it meant to be worn with steel tip tank boots & fisherman socks, but it covers a multitude of sins & apparently looks very glam with my leopard scarf wrapped around my head as a cowl - I don't actually care what it looks like, or what comments I get, tis warm as toast :)

i did this school run this morning in a tracksuit, wellies (not even hunters! ) with a parka over the top. i have given up at the moment, just want to keep warm!

Noddy - me too but then I'm not the best dressed person even when it's not snowing.

Inside:
Vest
Heat tech long sleeved top
cashmere jumper
dress (summer dress, winter-ified)
wool fair isle tank top
thick leggings
merrel winter boots (ok for general to-ing and fro-ing but not for prolonged snow as they have a side zip closure, then it's walking boots)

Outside:
above plus salopettes, ski jacket, ski gloves and some sort of hat

It's a lot. I think of going out in hot countries at this time of year: locate flip flops. Insert feet. Leave house.

anyone putting fashion over practicality at the moment - women in heels, ballet pumps, other silly shoes - just makes me realise why it was so hard to get the vote.

Well specialsubject how come men got the vote? there are some wearing shorts apparently But IKWYM you can't WALK in fine soled shoes in the ice and snow the idiots just fall over !!!

I've not been too cold actually, I think a hat and good footwear are key, along with a good coat. My Zara pale dove grey down coat has been perfect, and I love a bit of fairisle so in my eyes I've been quite stylish.

I've stuck to two pairs of leggings with knee high black wellies and grey socks though - jeans get so heavy and cold when wet, I know leggings are a no-no on here but theydo look quite sleek as part of a wintry ensemble IMO.

For work I do wear my normal outfit of dress and jacket. But I wear flat boots with an extra pair of socks, heat tech layers underneath and thick tights. I'm usually fine, although I add an extra jumper under coat when I'm outside.

I really don't think it's that cold (prepares for flaming). It's only just below freezing!

Doesn't anyone else hate the feeling of everything being too small with layers on underneath? I wore leggings under jeans yesterday and it was just horrible and depressing
