What is everyone wearing in the cold weather?

Does anyone give a stuff at the moment or is the aim just to keep warm?

I have been wearing:

Jeans/jeggings/thick leggings
Long sleeved jersey tee (usually Boden, one thing they do well)
Long cardie on top
Uggs

I'm bored though! Maybe I should dress it up with some jewellery!

I have to be smart for work so am focusing on thin layers and lots of them. Am wearing Uniqlo Heat Tech vests (at least one at a time, sometimes 2), then a normal top of some sort, then a fine cashmere sweater, then a thicker jumper or cardigan. Thick tights with skirts, or American Apparel winter leggings with socks and sheepskin Emu boots (for the weekend), or if I am wearing jeans or trousers, I wear my shiny fat-squeezing Primark leggings underneath - these keep me warm and because the are so tight and shiny/slippery, I don't get that horrible clingy feeling faustina mentioned - at least until spring comes when I will no doubt discover to my horror that I can no longer get my jeans on without the fat-squeezers underneath. That's what's happened the last few years, anyway...

I usually wear skinny jeans, t-shirt and cardi under my lands end squall parka and lands end snow boots and am cosy but today I was meeting a sexy man so it was skinny jeans, low cut top, cardi, wooly snood, fake fur coat and ankle length black wellies - fine apart from the footwear, forgotten how useless wellies are at keeping your feet warm.

Normal clothes for the office as its always turned up to bloomin tropical, topped off with my wonderful Lands End full length down coat and Emu boots for outside. I look like a lagged hot water tank but I dont care!

At home its lots of fleece ( got a bit of a Lands End sale fixation) with my old Emus as slippers, heating on low comfy and the snow still hasn't melted off my roof, oh no..

I have topshop blue skinnies, Ugg Kengsingtons, breast vest, uniqlo vest, long sleeve tee, maybe a fine knit cardi and if outside my oniel ski jacket. Which is getting hard to zip up thanks to uber boobs. Hat, scarf & gloves!

I have been wearing Cotton Traders snow boots and I don't give a shit! No, I probably won't feature in the list of most stylish mums on the school run but then again I haven't fallen over and my feet stay warm.

I choose to be smart at work apart from dress-down days. I take tights, skirt and heels with me but wear sweat pants with boots for the walk to work. Once there I change. When not at work I spend a lot of time hill walking so I wear the full Monty of layers, hat, two pairs of gloves, waterproof trousers & jacket, gaiters and walking boots. Not chic but functional. I also wear walking kit for the walk to work if there are blizzard conditions.

My normal winter wardrobe, which consists of two pairs of wooly tights (so so warm), a mini skirt (I have many) and on top a camisole, then two long sleeved t-shirts and a jumper/cardigan/hoodie.

Sometimes I vary it with a jersey or wool dress instead of skirt, in which case it's just one camisole and long sleeved tshirt underneed and possibly a cardigan.

Going out, I add knee high wool socks, lovely warm fully waterproof and lined boots I bought in Sweden, a coat, hat, scarf and ski gloves.

As I teach reception it is always freezing in the classroom due to the door being open, so I have a gilet that I wear inside instead of my coat.

Two pairs of tights is amazing, keeps my legs toasty warm.

Viennese women of a certain age do this superbly. Fur coats or down coats with a clear waistline in soft colours. Heavy, bright silk scarves. Smart fur hats, no bobbles. Smart boots, weatherproofed. Underneath, indoor clothes. A dress is better than trews under a good coat. If the coat is warm enough, you don't need millions of layers.

I'm wearing normal socks thermal leggings, a pretty skirt, long sleave breastfeeding top, a 9 week old in a sling (he's lovely and warm and over that a fleece lined coat. Plus a hat, gloves and either wellies or hiking boots. Other variations involve thermal tights or jeans and sometimes a cardigan. It's minus 7 here which is pretty warm for Denmark at this time of year. The baby is wearing a vest, babygrow and when outside 2 hats. My (husbands) coat goes over us both.

hiking boots for me, but a timberland sort of thing would do. My DMs have always had soles with very little tread on them, wouldn't trust them on snow or ice. not at all keen in Uggs (not waterproof) or wellies (poor ankle support and trench foot)

I tried to persuade DP to buy a trekking pole or two in the summer, she wouldn't, wishes she had now.

i would describe this as damp, but not cold. Have ski stuff for if it does actually get cold but England doesn't really.

I am the turtleneck queen. I don't fold down the roll. It's up around my ears. I can't stand feeling the cold wind at my throat, indoors or out. Under them I have my silk thermal vests. I have my stoutest jeans or my lined nylon sweatpants, bearpaw boots, knee length socks and when I go out I wear my huge, long puffy coat in brown that makes me look like a grizzly bear. Indoors I have a long, wooly cardigan coat over the turtleneck, and the boots (they make great slippers). I can't stand hats. When I wear one I look like my mother (no offence mum but with all my hair out and visible and blowing around I feel more like myself). So no hat for me going out.

I love this weather, because it totally justifies my normal shopping philosophy of warmth and comfort over perceived style. During the week I'm wearing my normal office stuff with a a knee length padded coat and arctic grade snow boots (slight overkill but I've just been to Finland, and I kept them on ever since I landed back home :-)) Weekend it's much the same except underneath giant coat it's jeans and thermal merino t shirt and woolly jumper or fleece. I am not a fashionista.

I have been wearing a knee length skirt with a long sleeved t-shirt and a jersey over, thick tights and wool socks, boots, a fleece jacket with a hood underneath a coat, varies, Danefae if it's raining or sleeting or a wool coat or a puffa with one of a selection of scarves and hats and random mismatched gloves. Stylish or what!
Skirts seem to keep my legs warmer than trousers although wool trousers with tights under are very cosy. I don't like skinnies and particularly dislike skinnies tucked into boots on me.

I generally prefer extra heating to extra clothing Can't afford to ramp up the thermostat this year, though, so am wearing 3 or 4 layers - usually involving a tunic or dress (or both) - and have invested in actual thermal underwear!

I look a bit like one of those old Russian peasant dolls.

My seasonal fashion crime for AW 12/13 is this hat. As I was going to need a Proper Warm Hat, I thought I may as well go for statement It's fantastic in the snow.

I swear by the heat generating tops from M&S. Wearing tights under skinny jeans. Breton tops and big cardigans. Nice scarves. Then burgundy down coat and big cosy bobble hat and wellies when outside.
