Best moisturiser, £10 or under please

I have dry skin, am nearly 40 with fine lines. I have used Liz Earle and Neals Yard in the past, which were good but I'm trying to economise as much as possible. Current moisturiser is Body Shop vit E, which just doesn't do the job (water content feels too high).

Any ideas what to try? Is Superdrug any good for moisturiser? I know it's probably not the thing to economise on, but I just can't justify spending £20+ on a moisturiser.

I should add that I don't like anything too fragranced, and preferably not too full of crap.

I have been using E45 at night or sometimes bio oil, so it's daytime I really need.

kickars which Olay do you recommend? I've looked at the Olay and Nivea ranges before, but just end up getting very confused...

Since you mentioned Superdrug, I find this to be a godsend. Although it's a balm rather than a moisturizer, it's deeply moisturizing and transforming. I use it as a primer but it has effects like an airbrush. It's done wonders for plumping and smoothing my skin.

I use Olay wake up wonder and my skin used to be very dry and dull but quite a few people have commented on it looking more fresh and bright. Cant vouch for what it does for fine lines though.

I use Simple skin care products when I can't afford Clinique. There is a special offer on at Tesco at the moment ( well it was on yesterday, not sure for how long) 3 products for £5, so I got the light and the rich moisturisers and some facial wash. It suits my irritable ski very well. Tesco also have 1/3 off Palmers Cocoa butter too.

Superdrug vit e very good for the price

You should be using a moisturiser with an SPF. Liza Earle is lovely but it doesn't do a lot.

The number 7 are good. They have a voucher for £5 off at the moment.

I swear by Nivea soft. I've used it for years, I do sometimes go for a more fancy cream but always end up back with Nivea, it's thick but not greasy and keeps my skin feeling lovely.

I use Lidl's Q10 moisturiser - about £2 and an all-round marvel.

I agree about Nivea. I buy the Nivea day cream from Asda, I think it's £3.99. It's lovely and light and is more like a gel than a thick cream which I hate feeling greasy on my skin. I've tried all sorts of moisturisers but going to stick with this one from now on.

Body shop brazil nut butter is lurvely and their mango, coconut, almond are nice. In fact although nut butter smells are my favourite I haven't had one that I haven't like from there. You can go get a few free tester pots to try out to.

ATM I'm using mandara spa honey milk dream from sainsbos and it is really really really nice, very moist but drys quickly.

You can also get it from holland and barrett and other places, but amazon is usually a bit cheaper

Steam cream is lovely for dry skin but does have a strongish smell of lavender which fades quickly. You can get it under a tenner on eBay

I've been using the Superfacialist Rose Day Cream from Una Brennan at Boots - very light, easy on my sensitive skin, smells gorgeous, SPF 15, currently £8.99.

Otherwise I really like Avene Hydrance, which is just over a tenner, but is often on 3 for 2 offers at Boots, and is a properly good skincare range.

I was given this as a Christmas gift and am really impressed with it.

Can recommend Eucerin Replenishing Face Cream (often on offer in Boots) which is the only moisturiser that doesn't bring my combination skin out in pimples. There's a night version which is much too thick and greasy for me. I've learned to always wear foundation with SPF in all weathers too.. Started off using my mum's Revlon Touch and Glow...have tried others...but always return to Revlon.. Will try Superdrug Naturally Radiant balm too, as ran out of the eye cream, so have been using Simple one, and my eyes have visibly aged!

Some Q10 nonsense from Aldi.

I have very dry skin and this does the business and gets rid off all the dry patches.

I bought a Q10 night cream, an eye roller thing and a pot of brightening cream all for under a tenner and it is really very good.

I also use factor 40 cream in the day, fwiw.

I've been using Tesco's cucumber moisturiser cream. Not sure how much it is, but under £3. Been using it for over a year now, haven't felt the need to switch to another.

I totally agree with Eucerin - their day cream is very good as well.

So, I went shopping today (prior to all the Eucerin and later recommendations), and this is what I bought:

Boots botanics day cream for the princely sum of £3.49.

Since I had allowed myself £10, I also bought:

Superdrug Vit E radiance cream and Vit E skin oil for the combined cost of £3.99.

Bargain! I'm now thinking I might have gone too far down the 'brightening' route, but for less than £8 I thought they were worth a try.
