I would love to start wearing perfume and have been searching for one I like for quite a while now but cannot find one.

All the ones I have tried are too strong or I just don't like them at all, for example I found chanel no5 too flowery and powdery and opium far too overpowering for me.I have no idea what sort of fragrance I would like-probably something quite light I thought if I listed the sort of smells I like somebody may be able to point me in the right direction! Here goes:
Vanilla
Chocolate
Lemon/citrus
Freesia
Dove soap (!)
Cut grass
Obviously not all at once but those are the type of things I like!

Any recommendations? Thankyou

You like gourmands and fresh green perfumes and citrus colognes.
Try the pink Shalimar flanker (L'Eau?), it has lemon and vanilla.
Angel is the classic mainstream chocolate-vanilla.
Hermes Jardins perfumes are worth a try too, more modern, translucent and subtle than most mainstream stuff.

a nice fresh perfume is DKNY or Ghost or Eau Dynamisante - the blue one, eau resourcante. Not heavy at all.

The best thing is to try them on one at a time in the shop, get a sample and see if they settle well on your skin.

Annick goutal Ninfeo mio is a lovely 'green' perfume

Not an expert by any means but if you want a relatively light fragrance, look at Marc Jacobs perfumes. Light and last ages.

Thankyou I will try those def want something light and fresh and 'cheerful' (might cheer me up!)
Thanks

I second what Jax says: Eau Resourcante in the blue bottle by Clarins. It's really fresh. Very light. That's a perfect one to start on if you don't usually wear perfume. (Disclaimer - I practically bathe in the stuff, but it's never overpowering.)

You could also try Verbena or Citrus Verbena by Occitane. They're both lovely.

Don't know if Hermes still does Eau d'Orangier Verte. I used to love it but haven't been able to get hold of it for a while.

Eau de Givenchy is divine. It smells really light and fresh but is its own scent iyswim, instead of just being a citrus or a floral. It's unique. It's very Dove soap and fresh cut grass.
