I finally stumped up for Bottox and wow what a difference!

I don't consider myself to be a big beauty addict but 2 weeks ago I had Bottox and its made a subtle but significant difference. I've noticed people smiling back at me more and I realise that it must be because I don't look perpetually worried. No one in real life has figured out what I've done so I had to come onto to MN to share my news!

You will not die young! I know about a dozen older people who have been having botox in a renal capacity for years at does x100s of what the cosmetic version is and even with their other health issues they are still going!

what exactly does it do?

im 40 but have noticed the beginning of very fine lines around my eyes, only noticeable when i smile and so far thats it but am poised for more.......

would botox sort them out?
can you have it around eyes?

Vicar, you can have it around your eyes - sideways (ie crows feet etc.), and yes it will make a massive, but subtle difference if you go to someone good. Under your eyes not so much. I'm 40 too

I've had it on my number 11s for a few years now and it is amazing! So subtle but just eradicates that "I'm a cross person" look. I've never worn sunglasses, my whole life, and I'm paying the price early Sad I also have never really worn make-up (foundation etc.) so I am obviously thrilled!

My problem now, pleeease help me, are two deep lines below my eyes. Not directly under them, lower, they appear when I squint or smile. I imagine the no sunglasses thing is the reason.

The lovely woman who does my botox says that she can't use it there, but then she hummed and haad and made me squint and relax loads of times and did a miniscule amount around them, and I think it did make a tiny difference.

I'm seeing her again next week for my number 11s, please can anyone tell me what I can do for these horrible lines. Should I encourage her to go botox crazy on them? (they are a centimetre or more below my eyes) and they make me look crap, exhausted and about 30 years older Sad

Or is there something else for this area under the eyes? Proper lines, not just shadows, troughs or whatever...

Please help me

You are all nuts! Injecting a poison into yourselves to paralyse your facial muscles!

A doctor told me it was a poison and why would you want to inject poison into your body. And then somebody else told me it only lasts six months or so and then you need to have it done again. But I have been tempted.

vivien I know a doctor who has his own private cosmetics company and he gives Botox to his customers.

It still put me off. And all these breast implants going wrong made me suspicious of all cosmetic surgery. Maybe in a few years they will find out that botox is dangerous. I don't think it's been around long enough. No I'm too scared!

The breast implant thing did worry me a lot, all those poor women.

It's fab! I have had it twice, it took ten years off me according to my mum! Grin

It's made the most difference on my 11's, I no longer look angry all the time.

It didn't hurt as I had special cream. Wink

My friend had botox in her armpits for 2 years on the NHS for excessive sweating before they cut funding. She said it was amazing, and she had no more problems.

It doesn't hurt at all really, very small pricks but yes, a bit of a crunch!

I can't wait until next week and live in hope that she will magic my under eye lines away!

notlaughing most Botox companies will still inject for excessive sweating if she ever wanted to try again but fund it herself.

My friend's mother has it - the first time it did look good but she's been having it about five years now and she just looks odd. Her friends daughter is only about 40 but has a frozen death mask now :(

It seems to be addictive and the person having it cant see if they are starting to look weird, bit like fake tan!

I have had it for 2 years still looks great. I think it's all down to the practitioner and what your face/skin looks like in general.

Report
notlaughinglines · 22/11/2012 08:15

I totally agree it depends on who does it. I said I really didn't want the frozen look the first time I went, and the brilliant person I go to was horrified that I'd even mentioned it!

Thanks procrastinating Smile. She's looked into private but sadly she can't afford it - she's just had a baby and the budget is tight.

I on the other hand continue to fund my vanity lol with my credit card

If you're going to get Botox you should look at getting a doctor to do it rather than a nurse.

I'm not convinced, surely the likes of Kylie use the "best" practitioners but still look scary!

I'm not scared of the "crunch" (pain) but you hear some shocking stories about how people end up with a droopy eye or asymmetrical effect. I would LOVE to rid myself of that worried/cross/tired look. I'm 50 and generally happy with my own personal ageing process so far but....BUT I'm seriously contemplating injecting poison into my face!!

I wonder if that kylie and madonna weird look is actually due to fillers, rather than botox? I agree, they look plain odd! And they certainly would be paying for the best of the best.
