Has anyone got a Philips Lumea IPL thingy and used it for a prolonged period? Does it work?

£350 is a lot of money to risk on something that might be all hype.

Boots have one on offer for 360quid, normally 500. I bought one the other week, really hoping it works

MiscellaneousAssortment · 05/06/2016 20:02

I'm still waiting for it to work, did second treatment on some bits last night. Forgot to do arm pits so glad someone mentioned those!

I really hope it works. Especially on my face...

Has anyone used the Philips lumea more often than every for night to try and speed up the process? Used it twice now and no noticing a difference yet

LuckySantangelo1 · 06/06/2016 19:23

Using it more often doesn't speed up the process as hair grows in cycles. I've had mine for a few months now & have just had my 5th session. Entire sizeable patches of leg hair haven't grown back at all. I've had less success with my bikini line but I will persevere!

MiscellaneousAssortment · 06/06/2016 20:20

I actually did use mine weekly so far, for some areas, but that's because I'm concentrating on embarrassing face hair which I pluck. So hairs all growing at different rates, so I thought it may be good to do it more frequently, but actually I haven't noticed any increased effect except my skin went a bit red, so I think I'll stop the extra zapping.

Do you think plucking after using it would be ok? I really don't want to put a razor to my face?!

BopperBop · 25/09/2016 16:12

Can I quickly ask - I have recently got the Lumea and like Miscellaneous I cannot bear the thought of shaving my face before using it! Can I just blast the hair without shaving first..??

Berthatydfil · 25/09/2016 17:28

I think if you don't some of the heat energy goes up the hair not down to the root so I guess it might waste it.
Also if the hair on the skin gets hot i suppose it might burn your skin.

rosietea · 18/01/2017 13:42

What's the actual difference in the attachments how is the bikini attachment different? Is it size of zapping area? Does it make Strength highrr or lower I don't get the difference

Oldish thread i know but I've Just ordered one i hope it works been using vaniqa and although it slows down growth i find it doesn't stop the hair growing and if you forget to use it the hair grows back as quickly as it did before. You have to use it morning and night and i find it makes my skin bumpy and doesn't sit under my make up very well.
