id wear it for a night out.
Not for dusting my cornicing

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 29/10/2012 09:05

Great as another poster said with chunky knit jumper, opaques and flat boots.
Always ignore the kids...biggest confidence drainers, opinions based on their very, very limited experience.

noddyholder · 29/10/2012 09:28

I would wear and am 46 Leather is quite every day now and dressed down is not sexy or anything I say wear it!

pictish · 29/10/2012 09:35

Makes me think of Joanna Claw fron Green Wing.
I think it wholly depends how you wear it. Dress it down if anything. Proceed with caution, I say.

germyrabbit · 29/10/2012 09:39

i would wear too, love that website by vv expensive

anniewoo · 29/10/2012 09:55

If you are size 10 and 5'6' then go for it. I would. If you were size 16 and 5'2 I wouldn't.

anniewoo · 29/10/2012 09:56

Madbuslady speaks sense

Yes, they're going to dislike you wearing anything that is in any way noticeable, however chic and age appropriately styled it is. Teenagers are often uncomfortable with any deviation from the norm, whether that's within their own peer group or their mothers wearing something that the other mums don't.

LFCisTarkaDahl · 29/10/2012 10:01

I don't think it's anything to do with size or the fact you can dress it down to be age appropriate (whatever that is) -it's that it seems too 'try hard' and a bit harsh.

at 23 it looks like youthful daftness, at 48 it looks too serious and over-done.

LFC, your last sentence sums up the meaning of 'age appropriate' quite effectively.

anniewoo · 29/10/2012 10:09

Only in black though. Not the red.

MadBusLadyHauntsTheMetro · 29/10/2012 10:10

Oh yes. Definitely not the red. [hgrin]

NigellasGhost · 29/10/2012 10:20

didn't even notice there was a red - no defo NOT the red!!
I would certainly dress it down - I don't do low cut tops anyway, being flat chested Sad Thanks for all the responses BTW I am finding the comments really interesting.
To the poster who asked if I've ordered from this catalogue before, no I haven't but there are quite a few things in it that I think are rather naice....
but yes it's somewhat on the ££££ side (although I'm not averse to coughing up when I think it's worth it).

perhaps if I buy it I'll put a pic of me up on my profile for you all to take the piss critique?

SOmetimes this site drives me mad. My god, if you want to wear it, and you think you look fab in it, then go out and rock the skirt. I certainly would wear it with a chunky jumper, thick tights and a pair of ankle boots. But hey, that's just me. F~$% the rest of them. If it's good enough for CArine, it's good enough for me. Who cares what the rest of the mums in their safe outfits think. Would you want to dress like them? They are just jealous they wouldnt have the guts to wear it themselves. Fashion should be FUN!!! Youre a long time dead! Phew, rant over!

Carine is a munter no style icon.

thekingfisher · 29/10/2012 13:40

I really like it and actually really like loads of stuff in the catalogue that I got at weekend - I really lkike the jacket model is wearing it with but in the navy not the red...
Go for it.

I live in darkest Suffolk but my firends and I really try not to look sooo frumpy as ofthers and I am the youngest of my lot at very nearly 40 39!

Viviennemary · 29/10/2012 13:40

I was thinking just go ahead and wear it. But now I've read your post. Absolutely not. Still it depends where you wear it. Not the school run I hope.

OneHandFlapping · 29/10/2012 14:11

I suppose we're all supposed to shop exclusively from the back pages of the Daily Mail after we pass a certain age, Queenie.

QueenieLovesEels · 29/10/2012 14:45

Past a certain age leather mini's don't work.

They are rather tried hard one. rather like your comment

O.P. Asked for views. Hardly means everyone over 50 should shuffle into Damart. Good grief.

NigellasGhost · 29/10/2012 15:40

vivienne not too sure what you mean - which post of mine?

OP posts:
NigellasGhost · 29/10/2012 15:41

chickydoo · 29/10/2012 15:46

I'm 45 and have something similar,
I'm 5ft 7 and a size 8. I wear mine with thick opaque tights and long boots. I usually wear it with a loose top or jumper. My 17 yr old daughter says I look great in it. I trust her (maybe I shouldn't)
