Always remember laughing at noddyholders posts about her mum and her penchant for silver chunky jewellery and flicky hair.

what item epitomises your mum?

OP posts:
Lavenderhoney · 14/10/2012 18:28

Ooh yes, este Lauder perfume, make up and Chanel number 5. I've never worn nothing else....

CointreauVersial · 14/10/2012 18:28

Pepper-and-salt highlighted hair ("to blend in the grey")
Comfy (read: ugly) flat sandals
Slightly too-short bootcut jeans, teamed with mum boots

Apart from that, she's reasonably fashionable; in fact a few months ago she was in Zara, buying floral-print skinny jeans. Too bad she wore them with lentil-weaver sandals.

CelineMcBean · 14/10/2012 18:31

Chunky costume jewellery
Quilted jacket
Too thin fringe
Twin sets

1tinnietinytoddler · 14/10/2012 18:32

mini skirts and short dresses that are way to short and show my arse (I get reallyembarrassed)

1tinnietinytoddler · 14/10/2012 18:32

oh and cheap perfume

CelineMcBean · 14/10/2012 18:33

Highlights in one colour - bleach - using a cap.

Too much pink lipstick

SlightlyJaded · 14/10/2012 18:37

Chunky Costume Jewellery worn over a tan roll neck Hmm

Anything in pea green from Per Una. She will pay more for beads and ruffles.

10 denier black tights with black patent Gabor loafers.

Quilted Barbour style jackets in 'fun' colours. Like Maroon

I will Never...

SlightlyJaded · 14/10/2012 18:38

Oh and matt Coral lipstick. Always matt. Always coral.

AKissIsNotAContract · 14/10/2012 18:41

Lavender: your mum sounds awesome :)

mamalovesmojitos · 14/10/2012 18:52

October1st your love for mother shines out of your post. Bless you x.

Lavenderhoney · 14/10/2012 18:54

Akissisnotacontract- thanks! My Mates when I was growing up used to tell her all their problems with men, life, home etc - and marvelled at how great she was. Not a cuddly person or particularly friendly with them. Bored answers" he sounds awful dear, move on or be unhappy for the rest of your life" back to the black coffee and cigarettes with a book. She hardly looked up!

Oh, I never drink black coffee. And I have been known to get totally hammered which a lady never does.

QueenBeebread · 14/10/2012 19:17

Everything DM owns is from M&S so I just can't touch the place.

Beige, beige and more beige. A bit of camel thrown in to liven it up from time to time.

Eau d'Elnett sprayed heavily liberally over an 80s perm.

colditz · 14/10/2012 19:20

A gilet
Leggings with a shirt curses

almapudden · 14/10/2012 19:28

A nice fleece.

Dollydowser · 14/10/2012 19:29

Per una jeans (even if she is size 8, humph).
Body warmer.
A fleece.

NerdAmigo · 14/10/2012 19:33

Fucking Per Una.

katykoo · 14/10/2012 19:45

Youth Dew, those Bon Marche jumpers with the pretend shirt underneath and eye shadow to match her top. Love her to bits !

Bunbaker · 14/10/2012 19:48

What is wrong with Per Una jeans?

Is it just because they are Per Una?

littlebird3 · 14/10/2012 19:48

Caghoule, fleece, per Una, any tights less than 70 denier.I see a few of the older mums on the school run in court shoes & mid calf lenghth skirts with those awful flesh colour tights & wonder at what point in your life you start to think this looks good =[

LittlePandaBear · 14/10/2012 19:49

My Mum carries a plastic bag everywhere. It doesn't seem to matter how big her actual handbag is, she'll find something to stick in a supermarket carrier bag, not even a bag for life but the small simple plastic bags, and take it with her. I've even seen her just take her purse, in a plastic bag, to the supermarket cos 'I didn't need to take my handbag, I only needed my purse'.

I wouldn't say she was stylish but knows what colours and styles suit her and generally buys from M&Co. It's just the plastic bag thing that annoys me!

WipsGlitter · 14/10/2012 19:53

A whole outfit in shades of the same colour - trousers, top, gillet (she LOVES a gillet) and necklace. Also minging grey thin trackie bottoms with a jumper and an apron. God I despair.

CointreauVersial · 14/10/2012 19:54

Ooh yes, those teeny little handbags on thin shoulder straps.

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 14/10/2012 20:12

Even my Dfather cant abide my DMs camel coloured coat. He has bribed me to lose it on our trip away.

dexter73 · 14/10/2012 20:15

LittlePandaBear - that did make me laugh about your mum taking her purse in a plastic bag!! Just be grateful she hasn't got a Sholley like my mum!

dexter73 · 14/10/2012 20:21

Bunbaker - it is just because they are Per Una and therefore worn by your mum! When my mum and dad when on a cruise a few years ago it was carte blanche for my mum to run amok in PU and stock up on all sorts of atrocious sparkly shit!
