I went to Bravissimo for my current bras but can't face the journey again. I am unsure how often new bras should be bought and would like some advice please

I have also lost 12lbs in the last 3 ish months but the bras are leaving a red mark.

My options are Bluewater and Maidstone to be fitted or can someone tell me how to work it out from measuring myself? (Across breasts is 40 1/2 inches and 33 1/2 underneath). Current bra is 36F and 36FF.

Pain behind neck but it goes after a while.

How does it feel now?

I think your measurement upthread was 33 so you could be either a 32 or a 34 depending on the brand/bra.

JustFabulous · 30/09/2012 14:11

I am back. Wearing a 32H. Feels amazing Shock. Got another 32H and a 34GG as I couldn't manage the 32 in that one as it was really tight. Went crazy and bought a pair of matching knickers for the 32H I am wearing now. Spent £113 all in.

The 32's are Freya and the 34GG is a Fantasie.

Thank you SO MUCH all of it. It really helped feeling like I had support Smile.

all of you not it Blush.

Sounds like a very successful trip! That's a fair old size difference to the 34F/G, no wonder you feel better.

The advantage with going over a GG (at least in Freya and a few others too) is that you tend to get a thicker back with 3 hooks rather than two- I find this makes a huge difference to the comfort and support.

JustFabulous · 30/09/2012 14:31

Does it sound like I am in the right ones now? [needy emoticon]

A few checks:

Is the back sitting horizontally?
Is the back quite firm - you should be able to slide a few fingers along underneath the band but it shouldn't have lots of space?
Is the central gore sitting flat against your chest wall at the front?
Does the wire feel like it is totally encasing your breast tissue - this is especially obvious at the sides under your arm?
Do you have any lumps/bumps escaping - under your armpit is a prime candidate?
Are the straps staying up rather than falling off your shoulders?
Any quad boob/bumps over the top of the cups?
Can you feel/see and wrinkles or gaping in the cups?

And Does it FEEL GOOD?

Grin glad you got sorted, I read your thread earlier and wanted to say that good condition expensive bras, often sell well on Ebay Smile

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/09/2012 14:54

Sounds like you've got good ones to me then! :)

JustFabulous · 30/09/2012 14:55

I can't believe how comfy it feels.

Hmm how often when your loosing weight should you get checked ? Km loathe to spend to much yet to find they are to big stone or so later

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/09/2012 15:01

THC it depends on how you lose weight really - my bust doesn't shrink that much until I am quite a bit lighter ,then goes through a phase of my back measurement shrinking (really annoying!)

Can you look at the bras you are wearing and see how they fit (look at the questions I asked JF) - if they aren't right but you are actively shrinking it might be worth just getting a couple to tide you over. Maybe something like a good nude t shirt bra and a nice black one which would cover most bases?

JustFabulous · 30/09/2012 15:01

I was with the assistant for 2 hours and she was lovely and said I was actually really easy to fit Shock. M&S, again, listen up and get some new training.

I am shocked that a weight loss of only 12lbs can have such a huge effect on my boobs. I have never lost that much before except for when pregnant then breast feeding and I was in feeding bras then.

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/09/2012 15:09

JF It sounds like it's mainly come off your underbust measurement which happens to me too. So I go down in the back and up in the cup!

JustFabulous · 30/09/2012 15:26

I am aware I am wearing the bra but it isn't painful and feels soft on me Smile.. I really hope they all work out okay.

I feel a bit guilty I was wrong with R & P but I can't understand how they think you can buy a bra without trying it on especially as she told me black comes up differently.

TheHumancatapult · 30/09/2012 16:29

Thank you statistic

It's defintley going underneath not from cup size they are as big as ever ,I lost 56lbs but not done yet .maybe a trip to Bravismo may be in order would people say they best option .

I'm a good F cup and maybe a 38 now not sure so pretty much rules me out most other places less I want something that my granny wears

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/09/2012 16:36

Wow that is an amazing weight loss! Congratulations!!! I definitely get you with the shrinking underbust - I went from a 34 to a 28 over the years due to weight loss (back to a 30 now) and went up about 5 or 6 cup sizes. Went from slightly awkward to blinking impossible.

If you have a tape measure handy, measure your underbust tightly - the measurement in inches is roughly your back size so that will give you an idea.

TheHumancatapult · 30/09/2012 17:02

Thank you

Hmm I'm a 37 since it be November before the bank say yes , I hope be down to 36

I always been rather large cup size 32 DD age 15 they walked into room before me

TheHumancatapult · 30/09/2012 17:03

Will go get measured and treat myself Smile

SorrelForbes · 30/09/2012 17:54

Really pleased JF. Sounds like you had a successful result indeed. Glad you're feeling happier and pain free!

JustFabulous · 30/09/2012 18:08

I have taken it off as it was getting a bit uncomfortable but I think it will just take time to get used to it after wearing one without proper support for a while. I also have bra extenders if I really feel I need a bit extra. I think once the pain has gone completely I will be okay.

I am falling asleep. Took me 2 hours to get to sleep and then I only had about 4 1/2 hours so it is all catching up with me now.

OP posts:
JustFabulous · 30/09/2012 18:27

I've got it back on with an extender and it feels fine. I think the tightness is just a shock.
