I went to Bravissimo for my current bras but can't face the journey again. I am unsure how often new bras should be bought and would like some advice please

I have also lost 12lbs in the last 3 ish months but the bras are leaving a red mark.

My options are Bluewater and Maidstone to be fitted or can someone tell me how to work it out from measuring myself? (Across breasts is 40 1/2 inches and 33 1/2 underneath). Current bra is 36F and 36FF.

Hopefully SC or Hazelnut will pop back to this thread to give some expert advice.

JustFabulous · 29/09/2012 20:42

Oh crap.

Now I am really confused.

34G deauville black
34G deauville natural
34F deauville latte

wearing cream atm, fitted with black and been given 2 different sizes.

pissed off.

Now, bras of that price and quality are usually individually made and the size can differ slightly between each bra. However, if they sold you them as being the the same size that you tried on, then it does sound like they've made a mistake!

I would phone then in the morning, tell them you're not happy (and why, fit an different sizes in same bra) and are age to take them in for another fitting.

A pain in the arse but when you're paying that much they need I be right.

I don't think that the Deauville is shallow like the R&P own brand balcony bras so it should sit flat.

I'm baffled as to why they would give you the same bra in two different sizes Hmm

JustFabulous · 29/09/2012 21:01

Okay

Phoned, have to go back tomorrow. Someone will check the ones I bought for fit and swap the F for a G.

I have just tried on the black, the one I was fitted with in the shop and the middle is almost flat against my chest. The cream one I would never have bought if I had been fitting myself. The lady I just spoke too said not all bras do fit flat against the chest. The fitter said something about black bras fitting differently due to the material Confused.

She said because I said I would take 3 bras in the same size but different colours she has just gone to the drawer and the F was in the G bra.

I could cry. It cost such a lot of money and it has to be perfect. They are not bras at a fiver that doesn't matter so much if they only last 3 months.

OP posts:
JustFabulous · 29/09/2012 21:04

I tried one bra on and would not have expected that I needed to try all 3 on when they were the same size. It is daft to feel upset as it is only a bra but I have a lot of breast pain and have gone for new bras in case the pain was due to that. GP thinks not so being checked for cancer and this just seems to add to my breast stress Blush.

SorrelForbes · 29/09/2012 21:10

I feel so sorry for you Sad. It's so disheartening when you think you've bought the perfect item and then it turns out not to be that perfect after all.

I really think you must take all the bras back with you again tomorrow and ask for a completely new fitting. Then you can re-select your bras and get a refund/exchange as required. Their point about the material might well be correct but it's not your fault that their stock isn't in the correct drawer! I would be amaze if they let you leave tomorrow if you're not 100% happy.

Good luck tomorrow. If I lived up that way, is gladly come along with you.

JustFabulous · 29/09/2012 21:18

Thank you .

If they know that black fits differently why do they not fit the other colours on you rather than just giving it to you? The black does fit better. It is almost flat against me and lifts me really well. The other one just doesn't.

I have been in pain the whole time I have been wearing it and the pain seems to have eased a bit now I have taken it off.

I remember M & S fitting me and I was in agony so I went back and the woman was Shock at what I was wearing and fitted me correctly another bra.

I just feel like getting a refund and going somewhere else tbh.

After one of my Bravissimo bras had a wire malfunction I went to BHS and paid less than £20 for a bra in the same size that fitted just as well.

I can't afford that amount of money for something that isn't right.

SorrelForbes · 29/09/2012 21:26

Aw bless you (I'm always up for bra shopping!). Don't worry, I am sure that all will be resolved tomorrow. Be firm and don't leave that shop until you're happy with what you've bought or they've refunded/exchanged the ones you don't feel right in. It sounds to me like the one you've been wearing this evening definitely isn't a good fit for you.

Ask to try some other styles and brands too. Be fussy! My black R&P vintage fits a bit better than my almond one so maybe there is something about the material...

Let us know how it goes!

JustFabulous · 29/09/2012 21:29

There is a huge difference in the two bras in the G. Same bra. Same size. Different colour. Different fit Confused.

Where do I stand with returning the one that I have worn but just doesn't fit right?

OP posts:
SorrelForbes · 29/09/2012 21:33

As far as I'm concerned, they should have insisted you try all bras before buying, same style or not. On my visits, I've tried everything which probably made for a boring time for the fitter, but at that price I don't care!

TBH I wouldn't tell them that you've had it on all evening (not that that should make a difference as they've sold you something that isn't fit for purpose). Just say you wore it for 20 minutes or so and then had to take it off as it was so uncomfortable.

Insist on a new fitting from scratch with a different fitter. Good luck and try not to worry. Their reputation is very important to them so they will want you to be happy.

JustFabulous · 29/09/2012 21:43

What is weird is the pain in my breast has eased loads since I took the bra off. Yet I have had breast pain for at least 3 days all the time.

So, I was getting pain because my current bra was now too big duie to weight loss and not supportive enough so to me if a new bra is also giving the same result and then pain eases then that isn't right either. I have had different issues with my breasts, some of which could be symptoms of something bad, but with the pain/issues always being with my breast which is the bigger one it is hard to know what is going on.

OP posts:
SorrelForbes · 29/09/2012 21:56

If you didn't tell the fitter about the pain today, then make sure you do when you visit tomorrow. So frustrating though!

Cantdothisagain · 29/09/2012 21:57

Justfabulous, I just wanted to say a friend of mine had similar pain - and her GP told her that pain is actually a good sign in terms of symptoms, as it suggests that the cause is superficial -she was told it was because the difference in size between her breasts was such that her bra was doing damage.

I have exactly the same problem with the same bra in different sizes btw - one is digging into me;the other is near-baggy. I know this doesn't help...

Cantdothisagain · 29/09/2012 21:58

sorry, meant to say the same bra in the same size in different colours!

JustFabulous · 29/09/2012 22:01

I did tell her about the pain. I also told her I was due on and that I had one breast bigger than the other. I didn't want to waste her time if they advice not fitting when your period is due.

I feel like asking for a full refund and going somewhere else but I was so happy and relieved to get a bra that fit..

OP posts:
SorrelForbes · 29/09/2012 22:31

I bet you do, but I really would give them another go first. At the very least you should be able to walk out with one good bra (possibly the black one?) and then take your money elsewhere. It might be that you need a brand that they don't stock.

JustFabulous · 29/09/2012 22:33

Is there any point having one ££ one though if I can just go somewhere else and get something more normal price? Ever since I have had children being fitted has always been a nightmare.

OP posts:
SorrelForbes · 29/09/2012 22:40

I guess that's something only you can answer. I have four bras from R&P and because they fit so well I tend to only wear them and leave all my others languishing in the drawer.

Wherever you go, you'll need to be fitted and really, once you're over a DD then your choice of shops becomes more limited. Maybe think about Leia and Bravissimo as they stock other brands. Do you have any independent shops near you?

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/09/2012 00:14

Just saw this, been out at a ball!

You poor thing, it sounds like you're having a rubbish time of it. [hugs]

If you have been fitted and it doesn't fit, I would be utterly shocked if they don't return it/exchange.

I'd be a bit concerned about the central gore not sitting flat - like SF I have a couple of half cups which don't sit quite as flat due to the style, but I just googled the one you bought and it doesn't look like a candidate for that. If you are conscious of it then I'd say it's probably not the right bra for you. She should really have tried different bras - a good fitter should make sure they find the right bra for you, not just the closest fit in the one they have to hand.

It wouldn't be unheard of to need a different size in different colours of the same bra - both due to them being made slightly differently and because there is something to do with black dye that means the fabric behaves slightly differently so tends to be a fraction smaller (I think). Can't remember the technical explanation but it's something I've experienced several times. She should really have got you to try each one, just selling you the same bra in 3 colours without checking is a bit lazy! Never mind getting the wrong size for two of them.

I've never tried the bras you bought, but it sounds like you know how a good bra should feel. It might be worth you shopping around and trying some alternative brands. Personally I don't think really cheap bras are as good, but that's just me. However, I also know there are some brands which I can't wear - Panache and I do not get on, they are totally the wrong shape for my breasts. Freya on the other hand are great, as are Bravissimo own brand.

Oh, for future reference btw - Bravissimo are excellent about returning faulty bras. I had one which I had barely worn (got pregnant about a month after I bought it) and when I started wearing it again the wires popped out. By this point it must have been about 18 months old. I emailed their customer services and they agreed to exchange for a different one (original was discontinued) and they even replaced the pants too.

I really hope you have better luck tomorrow.

JustFabulous · 30/09/2012 06:14

Morning.

Could not sleep last night due to the pain. Took me well over 2 hours to nod off and I had about 4 1/2 hours. Up now as can't sleep again. I am worried about going back. I was shocked how little time I was in there but assumed they knew what they were doing. I could cry at how much I have spent and am just wanting my money back now. My breast is so uncomfortable and the pain is exactly as it was when I wore a bra that wasn't right from M & S. It is hard to know what to do as I was already in pain but don't know if that was from the fibromyalgia I have, something else wrong with the breast or because the bras I was wearing were now too big and not supportive. I am not sure I can be fitted when in pain. The bra felt tight but I put that down to being new and the fact I do get chest tightness when anxious and I have asthma. The lady said you will always get red marks when you have something against the skin but no other bra fitter has ever said that and I don't believe it tbh.

I am so tired I am not sure I can face going back and think I might even cry. Why is it so difficult for me to get a bra that fits?

Might as well start preparing the roast dinner stuff, though we are having to have it at tea time now due to having to go back.

BTW I am going to Bluewater if anyone can make a suggestion for where I should go if R & P has nothing that suits. I am tempted to make do with my old bras until hopefully the pain eases but not sure it will as I already had some before yesterday.

I didn't return the Bravissimo bra as I had washed it in the machine after hand washing for a few months as I thought it would be fine so was my fault really. Didn't happen with the others though Confused.

JustFabulous · 30/09/2012 08:02

I have just looked at their site and they will not refund items worn. I wore one bra for a little while and it was unbearable. I can't lose £76 and am unsure about getting them to refit me so where do I stand. I put the bra on in good faith, she didn't fit it. Seriously annoyed as a it has cost me a fortune. left me in pain so bad I coudn't sleep and now I have to go back when I have other things to do.

OP posts:
JustFabulous · 30/09/2012 09:01

Still upset and teary. I hate having to go back and complain in any shop. Wish they opened at 9 and not 11. I was planning on saying how happy I was when I left as I thought I had got 3 bras that were completely the right fit for me but now I just feel disappointed.

Wrong bra given.
Bra doesn't fit right and I wasn't offered to try all on.
Have to take time out of my planned day to go back to sort out.
Just so disappointed.

It sounds patheitc but bra shopping is always a big deal with me as I have had such upsetting service looking at you M & S with uncalled for comments so I was really expecting premier service from R & P.

OP posts:
Nishky · 30/09/2012 09:14

Is there anyone who can go with you? As you have been upset by this then some moral support may help. Stand your ground. They have sold you bras that do not fit.

JustFabulous · 30/09/2012 09:21

Unfortunately no. I did say to DH I wish he could come but he said he woulkdn't know what would fit. Daft thing. I meant support. I really hate complaining. He is taking the kids swimming and I don't have anyone to ask.

Thanks for replying. I know I have gone on a lot Blush.
