Best anti-aging product for face?

I know they probably don't work etc. I'm lucky so far to have no lines or wrinkles at 34, which I realise is a genetic lottery really. But...what are the products that people rate? There are just so many, there is no way I'm going to buy randomly or on the basis of advertising.

I love that dodgy site :o

kerstina check the ingredients - should be pure argan oil, if so - warm 2 drops and pat it into clean skin. Lovely stuff - has been used for years in other cultures as a general elixir for beauty.

chocolatespiders · 23/09/2012 12:55

Thanks I will keep checking with out crystal head band as I don't own one YET!!!

I use rosehip oil but now reading this page it may be the wrong thing for me. May pass it on to Teenage dd as it may help with her pimples.

Yddraigoldragon · 23/09/2012 13:00

Hmm, just checked Holland and Barratt - they sell the Argan oil too! It is tempting.
I have been using philosophy products for years, works for me. Also I drink loads of water and don't smoke, which seem to be the two cheapest things you can do to improve the skin. adjusts halo

Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect serum, was proven, by a Horizon documentary to reduce skin ageing, and help soften wrinkles, and was even mentioned in the British Journal of Dermatology. The programme set out to prove that anti-ageing products were just hype, but the Boots serum surprised them by working.

I being ever so gullible bought it, and do like it, but 4 years on, I only ever remember to use it once every 6 months or so, and then for just the odd night or so.

Since I've looked on here, I've tried Rosehip Oil, Coconut Oil, OCM, sweet almond oil, and castor oil, and have got into a right state.

skincare · 23/09/2012 13:45

do you really?! What a coincidence smile I love it, glad to hear you like it too. Not sure why it doesn't get good reviews?

AViewfromtheFridge · 23/09/2012 13:45

TK Maxx have quite a lot of Argan oil products and they're dead cheap.

noddyholder · 23/09/2012 13:46

Rosehip oil has definitely made my skin more full looking and glowy Only botox rids of lines. Spf also good

lurkingaround · 23/09/2012 19:36

Iirc, the boots serum thingy was only shown to work in a very small number (less than 20) of people, and I haven't heard any expanded trial since then (I could be wrong). So the results haven't been repeated. Possibly has some age reversing effect in some people, I'd say results might be variable. And again I might be wrong, but did Boots not sponsor some of that programme?

Backto2 is it the airbrush primer you use?

lurkingaround · 24/09/2012 20:19

Anyone mentioned Botox? Probably could be called anti-ageing, in a 'stop the action stop the wrinkle' sort of way.

Back2Two, surely people wouldn't know you'd had it?

I have splashed out on Perricone's face firming activator and I feel I can already see a smoothness and glow in my face that wasn't there two weeks ago. I use it under Alpha H moisturiser and I'm thrilled with the results. Pricey but should last for ages!

sugarice · 25/09/2012 11:50

I've done Botox, no one knows and my practitioner hasn't given me that super arched eyebrow look . I look rested rather than frozen, not doll like smooth like Nicole Kidman

Levantine · 25/09/2012 11:57

arf at that dodgy site

what exactly do you do with retin-A? put it on at night or summat?

ggirl · 25/09/2012 18:01

yes put on at night..pea sized amount ,need to wait 20mins after washing face and to avoid area around mouth
make sure to use sunscreen during the day

hattymattie · 25/09/2012 18:31

Don't L'oreal do a retinal a cream? How is that?

lurkingaround · 25/09/2012 22:38

Lots of companies do Retinol creams but they are buffered in some way, and the stability and delivery of the active ingredient is unreliable, afaik. And the strength is, well, not so strong.

Retin A can be v harsh on the skin, you could start by diluting it say, half and half with your regular moisturiser, and start using it every second night or so. Gradually build up to every night.

Chandon · 26/09/2012 07:56

retinol burned my skin (tries roche Posay one)

it was horrible. Had a red face for 2 days.

It also smells bad, if I remember correctly

yuk stuff

Arhsub1212 · 31/10/2013 19:00

I think natural sources for anti-aging are best, search on the internet for natural thing and make a home remedy, I bet it will be helpful.

AnyFuckerWillDo · 31/10/2013 22:24

What does retin a do? Surely a doc won't prescribe for anti aging?

AnyFuckerWillDo · 31/10/2013 22:29

Botox is the only true proven anti ager I think, n although may seem expensive it's not when you think you can spend £100 on an anti aging cream n that will cover you one area of Botox x
