Loose powder that isn't too matte

Has anyone come across such a thing? I don't want sparkles but something that doesn't age me by looking flat would be great. Currently use Clinique but I'm hoping there's a better one out there.

Cornsilk is lovely if you can find it.

I second cornsilk, but only the matte version - I bought the non-matte one a while back and it was so shimmery that I had to take it off before I went outside... I'd describe the matte version as "normal" rather than matte, really. You can get it on ebay or Amazon still, as well as some independent chemists.

I really like the No7 loose powder as well - it's not chalky, doesn't settle into lines or smell of perfume (which I look out for as it often irritates my skin).

I wore No7 loose powder for my wedding - fab stuff.

I use the urban decay razor sharp finishing powder, gives a silky finish but not totally matte. Packaging is rubbish though, I pull the sponge off and use a brush

Yeah it's hard to describe! Feels silky, slippery and more finely milled? And the urban decay ones feels cold as it goes on, reminds me of a Prescriptives powder I used to use
Just seems to soak up oil but be less powdery, if I rub a normal powder over my skin it feels of, well, powder but a silica one feels just slippery

I'm using the aldi pressed powder, very good and not expensive if you dont like it.

MAC Prep & Prime powder is a silica one too and is great. absorbs oil, sets makeup and doesn't look chalky (despite being White!). I've bought the ELF High Definition powder (which is supposed to be a cheaper dupe for it), but am waiting to finish my MAC one first. I wouldn't go back to 'normal' loose powders now as they all look chalky to me.

You can also spritz a setting spray/facial mist over your face once you've finished your makeup to help counteract any powdery-ness.

That MAC one looks interesting, I'm going to check that one out too. Anyone tried Bobbi Brown?

sillica powder is your new BF. it fills in pores and blurs lines without looking cakey. or powder with light reflecting stuff (basically shimmery powder) is good too (unless your skin is v greasy). No7 or Sleek do good ones. hth

Laura Mercier Mineral powder. Its got a lovely luminosity. V expensive tho, go to a counter to get colourmatched and then shop online. It's supposed to be a mineral foundation but I use it as a powder. Makes any foundation look good!

A make up artist told me about Ben Nye Neutral Set powder. It's fab stuff, not too matt but 'finishes' my face nicely and is unbelievably cheap too at less than £6 for a big pot that lasts ages. I've been using it for 6 months and have used about a quarter of the jar.

I use this and I think I'll cry if it's ever discontinued.

For £4 (and often you can get it for £3 or on three for two or similar) it's a bargain. It's great over tinted moisturiser and foundation or on its own, lasts brilliantly, and no sparkles.
