Eye make-up remover

Anyone have any recommendations for a decent eye make-up remover that doesn't cost the earth? I wear eye liner and mascara every day - though not a huge amount. I use eye make-up remover at night and it seems to take it off, but then wake up the next morning looking like a panda! Any suggestions for what to try??

I've tried loads over the years but always gravitate back to Boots Botanics eye make up remover. Cheap compared to other brands and removes the most stubborn eye make up.

MousyMouse · 12/09/2012 09:15

loo paper + body lotion.

I use Waitrose own brand one. £1.94 for 200ml. Works a treat. It's called PURE Eye Makeup Remover. No sting and removes well (though not my industrial strength waterproof mascara for holidays).

Boots cucumber eye make up remover gel is good and cheap as chips.

monkeysmama · 12/09/2012 12:14

The Johnsons eye make up remover pads are great.

valiumredhead · 12/09/2012 12:17

Any cream cleanser with a warm muslin cloth will do the trick.

sue52 · 12/09/2012 12:19

Aqueous cream and a soft flannel. It even zaps mac mascara which is a bit glue like.

SpicyPear · 12/09/2012 12:31

Another one for Waitrose PURE. With cream cleansers I always wake up with runny eyes the next morning - this does the job but doesn't irritate my eyes.

I use Simple. Nice & gentle with no irritation. A tip is to wipe over after removal with a damp cotton wool pad. Keep wiping until pad comes away clean.

BeauNeidel · 12/09/2012 12:54

I use coconut oil, the cheap one from Superdrug. Anything oil based will get it off quick smart.

aftereight · 12/09/2012 13:04

I use the blue double layer (oil & water based) one by L'Oreal, called Eye & Lip I think. The only one I've tried which doesn't irritate my dry skin, but still removes waterproof makeup. It's often on offer in Superdrug.

I followed a tip on here and started using Vaseline. Just take a litlle lump, soften between both index fingers and gently rub on eyes. It loosens all the liner, mascara, etc so you look like a panda and you can then wipe it off with a cotton pad or remover.

It may be a coincidence but my lashes seem longer and thicker too!

Eliza22 and SpicyPear I bought the Pure Eye Make Up Remover when I did my shop from Ocado and thought it was fab - so do they still do it? As I have bought the Boots No 7 one in the meantime, which I find greasy.

jumpingjackamo · 12/09/2012 13:22

I have been using Garnier eye make up remover for years. It is not greasy or heavy at all (feels like using water) and doesn't leave any residue behind.

It works like magic on even waterproof or long wear and a bottle lasts a very long time for me, even when I apply eye makeup daily it can last up to 3 or 4 months.

I buy a few bottles when it is on sale and use those throughout the year.

Eliza22 · 12/09/2012 14:14

I stocked up with 3 of these, in Waitrose, last week.

I too find the No7 blue mixxy one greasy. Then in the morning, I have this horrid, slutchy brown mascara blob in my eye. I binned it.

littledolly · 12/09/2012 20:45

Thanks all for your help. A few things here for me to try. I'm in NI so no Waitrose here but will give a few of the others a go Smile

I use boots extra sensitive baby wipes. Very gentle and wipes every last trace awaySmile

AViewfromtheFridge · 12/09/2012 20:49

Superdrug Simply Pure eye make-up remove. It's about £2.50.

The skin around my eyes is really sensitive, and most others I've tried either make my skin react or are too "gentle" to work. And I've tried a lot!

Really can't stress enough how good the Superdrug one is!

mumofjust1 · 12/09/2012 20:49

I use a loreal one - small blue bottle. It's great stuff and I wish I'd tried it sooner!

My eyes are ridiculously sensitive and it's the only one I've tried that actually removes eye make up effectively and doesn't irritate my eyes.

I second the Vaseline too - wiped off with a slightly damp cotton wool pad so no fibers from the pad are left behind Smile

Mintyy · 12/09/2012 20:49

Body Shop.

Astr0naut · 12/09/2012 20:55

Simple. I've used it forever. It can be as cheapt as £1.99 from the right place. Works on even heavy make up and won't screw with contact lenses.

GTbaby · 12/09/2012 20:55

Olive oil. Smile cheap n effective.

Virgil · 12/09/2012 20:57

Coconut oil. Cheap and amazing. I've used lots of expensive make up removers. This beats the lot.

MadameCastafiore · 12/09/2012 20:58

Lancôme bifacil is the best one I have ever used.

Aquelven · 12/09/2012 21:03

Been using this for years.
Absolute bargain, especially when on 3 for 2
