Fly London Boots - Any good?

shelley72 · 11/09/2012 15:52

I clicked on a link on S&B earlier and saw a pair of long boots that I thought might just go with casual dresses / skinny jeans (I just cant do the ankle boot thing I look ridiculous). I cant find them now but I am sure that they were Fly boots. They didnt seem too expensive so are they any good? Comfy? Likely to last a winter or two? Mum boots?
I really want do need a new pair of long boots this winter.
Thank you!

Had a pair some years ago and never worn them.

I felt a bit butch in them. But they were comfy.

Much nicer ones out there imo Smile

beginnersluck · 11/09/2012 16:06

I had a pair that were great - can't say how long they'd last as I bought them whilst pregnant and after giving birth (and my ankles stopped swelling) they were a size too big - hardly their fault though!

Cartoonjane · 11/09/2012 16:41

The quality is generally good but if anything does go wrong Fly are awful. I had a really bad experience earlier this year with somE shoes which in my view were faulty but they were having none if it. I wouldn't buy Fly again.

mirpuppet · 11/09/2012 17:07

I would buy from Amazon rather than Fly London direct because of return policy/ RX to fault and they are often on sale on Amazon.

OhThisIsJustGrape · 11/09/2012 17:09

I've got a pair of Fly Mol boots and a pair of the shorter version Mes boots. Wore them all last winter and they still look really good, I'm after another pair of the Mes style as because I'm so short I think the Mols come just a little too high up my leg.

musttidyupmusttidyup · 11/09/2012 17:14

I love my fly Yule boots. Have lasted and worn very well and are very comfortable, as comfortable as flats but you get a good bit oh height from the platform. Snug on calves but the ankle does bag a bit. I love mine anyway. Can wear with skirts or leggings/skinnies.

tutu100 · 11/09/2012 17:20

I bought a pair of Fly boots of Amazon and the quality is shocking. Unfortunately I'd had them for 2 months before I wore them, otherwise I would have complained but felt I was out of time. Within weeks the bottom of the sole came away from most of the boot. When I took them to the shoe menders he told me he had had lots of fly boots in for repair for the same problem. He asked me if they were cheap boots and he nearly fell over when I told him they cost £110 (luckily they were on offer for £60 when I got mine).

I wouldn't ever buy Fly boots again. Going to get Dr Martains this year. Am still wearing the fly boots because I have to, but they leak in the rain (which is when I want to wear boots). Overall I've been pretty pissed off with them as I'd wanted a pair for a long time and was really chuffed when they were reduced to a price I could afford.

I've had my boots just about a year, obviously I didn't wear them over the summer (3 months), they will go in the bin once I can afford new ones.

Sonotkylie · 11/09/2012 17:41

Love mine (Fly Mol), although they leak like sieves. Lots of waterproof spray keeps them OK but avoid puddles and torrential rain. Very comfy. Great for walking a lot and chasing across parks. Do look good with skinny jeans and skirts BUT the leaking is a problem

cocolepew · 11/09/2012 17:44

I have the Mol and agree with the leaking , the sole seems to come apart. Bit snug on the calves, but that might be my fault Grin. They look really good though.

Mewsical · 11/09/2012 17:57

FabSad!
Am waiting for my new Fly boots to arrive....they are only for non-wet weather though now it seems, I have wellies and other old faithful boots for rainwear.

BikeRunSki · 11/09/2012 17:58

The feet come up small and the legs are narrow, so I have never had any because even the 8s don't fit. I love the look of the Mols and Muses, but have heard nothing but reports of poor quality.

cornzy · 11/09/2012 18:00

I like them. I'm on my second pair of mols and have a longer pair of wedgey ones also. I know that some people think they're mumsy but they are so comfy.

toffeefee · 11/09/2012 18:08

I don't get Fly at all. They are clumpy and unfeminine (and not in a good way). There are loads of gorgeous boots out there at the minute that I would buy over Fly boots any day.

cocolepew · 11/09/2012 18:29

I like clumsey and unfeminine Grin

EverlongYouAreGoldAndOrange · 11/09/2012 18:31

They scream lentil weaver to me Blush sorry.

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/09/2012 18:31

I like clumpy and unfeminine too, Cocolepew. Grin

cocolepew · 11/09/2012 18:33

This years boots is going to be Dr Martens Felice boots. I'm determined not to be feminine Grin

cornzy · 11/09/2012 18:42

not keen on the Dr Martens Felice but really like the look of the Tana.

BikeRunSki · 11/09/2012 18:42

I am clumpy and unfeminine.

EverlongYouAreGoldAndOrange · 11/09/2012 18:44

Grin I don't believe it bike

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 11/09/2012 18:50

I love my Mes boots, I can't walk in heels and I think suit the clumpy and unfeminine lookGrin I have 2 pairs of Mes, one pair is going in to their third year and still going strong. I don't tend to wear them in very wet weather though because others have said they leak.

I have a secret hankering after a new pair of dm's at the moment too which are also distinctly unfeminine but they are calling to me!

Tanyaaah · 11/09/2012 20:03

They are very comfortable but NOT waterproof! Even with constant wax polishing. Nice and lightweight too.

WantAnOrange · 11/09/2012 20:23

I love mine, had them for 2 years now and they look worn but aren't falling apart. They are very comfy. I'm going to go against everyone else and say they are are big around my calves!

AllPastYears · 11/09/2012 20:32

I have a long pair of Fly boots and a pair of Fly ankle boots. Love them both! As to whether they are clumpy/unfeminine/fab/trendy, I don't care so much. I love them and that's what matters. Grin

Don't know about waterproofness, I rarely seem to go anywhere except work (indoors), stables (different boots) and my house (slippers) Grin.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 11/09/2012 20:36

I have a pair of Mes boots, I love them but they certainly aren't wet weather boots, the soles are so slippy on a wet surface I would end up on my backside.

Mind you, I am a boot addict so they are one of many leaving me lots of choice on wet days!
