What are wearing/buying this autumn?

OP posts:
mamijacacalys · 06/09/2012 21:07

I have Twiggy's Boden twist front dress dress plus the Paris dress from s/s (now in clearance section) which are both very flattering (am a G cup).
The Boden velvet trim tops in pink and plum are also good as they are my 'jewel winter' colours.
Brastop.com for good value Curvy Kate and other large nork brands if you fancy a change from Bravissimo.
Sorry can't link as am on iPad.

Thank you for the Boden advice. Going to have a look through their website now.

Pah, you're all weeny. Mine are 30j. I can't have a good attitude towards them, just dress to hide as much as possible (not very possible Grin)

Like the look of the blue boden dress linked to but £££ even with 20%.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 07/09/2012 08:23

Well I've just ordered the Boden twist front top and the velvet trim top mentioned up thread!

Fingers crossed that they fit. Managed to get a voucher code for free delivery and returns so nothing to lose if they are a disaster!

Will report back.

Just to add my own suggestions for dresses - I've found that Coast's jersey dresses fit perfectly!

BardOfBarking · 07/09/2012 10:13

I bloody love my boobs (just saying) Grin I'm 42, size 12 /14 with 34gg. I wear a lot of wrap style dresses from phase 8 with little camis for work. My decolletage is still smooth so I am very happy for a bit of cleavage when going out. Necks that are too high make me look matronly though.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 07/09/2012 10:44

I don't mind mine but I think I'd be happier if they were a bit smaller - an E cup would be great!

What annoys me is that people think its perfectly acceptable to comment on them!

Last week some friends were all having a a general moan about about putting on weight during the school holidays and I agreed that I had put on a bit because my exercise routine gets messed up when the kids are off school.

One of the friends then said " oh but Angels with you it's your boobs , they are huuuuuge! My god what size are you? It must be a nightmare! Blush

This was followed by much laughter even though I made it clear that I wasn't comfortable with the conversation ,and lots of stories about people they know who have had reductions and are soooo much happier. Why don't you have one? ( like it's not major potentially life threatening surgery or anything!)

The thing that annoys me is that the friend who started it all has fluctuated between a size 20 and a size 14 in the time I have known her ( at the mo she is about a 16) and I would never ever dream of commenting on her weight! I think she looks great whatever weight she is as she is always really stylish.

Sorry , bit of a rant but I feel I'm in sympathetic company Grin

strictlycaballine · 07/09/2012 10:53

Unfortunately I look better in collar (with good v- neck) owing to tall and stoopy figure - despite big norks. Tis a nightmare.

Have found it very helpful to actually e-mail Boden Customers Services and ask "what is good for ample chests this season". They always give very helpful responses.

I feel exactly the same way orangeandlemons btw Sad

Thanks for the tips everyone though Smile

Dollydowser · 07/09/2012 17:16

Thanks got the top tip strictly about emailing Boden Smile

Dolly any luck with Pepperberry's new autumn range?

Dollydowser · 11/09/2012 09:35

I like a couple of bits, I am hoping to go into London in a couple of weeks to try some stuff on. I have been watching Pepperberry on Facebook, it really helps to see 'normal people' in their clothes.

The thing about Pepperberry is while they may be designed to fit my boobs, I actually need to make them look smaller! I desperately want a jersey blazer, they have one in the new collection, but it has 3 buttons up the front, while I need a really deep V to flatter my norks, so one button, at a push 2, is best for me.

I would really like some winter dresses, but not formal work wear as I don't work in an office. Also I want them to be warm, ie not bloody cropped sleeves! So that rules out most of their dresses. Their tops also don't suit me, I am 5'3", can't wear anything tunic or smocky without looking pregnant, so again that rules out most of theirs.

Fussy, aren't I! I quite like this cardigan and have seen it on a lady on the FB photos and it looks nice, a lovely deep V.

this could be a good Christmas party dress and on the FB photos it looks a lovely deep purple.

How about you, seen anything you like?

Sonotkylie · 11/09/2012 09:46

Hi Dolly. I've been lurking here for a while. Just wanted to say, I have a fantastic (old) jersey blazer from Next of all places with 3 buttons, which I find feels more secure and less droopy' than the ones I tried with 1 or 2. It works really well and doesn't 'emphasise' the FF chest. I often leave the top button undone to increase the 'v'. So it might be worth a go. All comes down to the cut I suppose but jersey is very forgiving and warm!

Dollydowser · 11/09/2012 10:13

Yes agree need to try on before I discount it. I am a K cup though Sad

PerryCombover · 11/09/2012 10:43

I like slash necks also..surprisingly great on norkage

strictlycaballine · 11/09/2012 11:00

Dolly so agree about wanting minimising effect from clothes ...and wanting long sleeves!!

Love the sound of jersey blazer SonotK - structured yet stretchy at same time

[rushes off to search on line - want something darker than pale grey of Pepperberry one and slightly less thick material if poss]

tbh found the Pepperberry things a bit disappointing but I am v. wierd shape and unlike most women with ample norkage look better with collar/neck area covered (as long as have deep v if that's not too contradictory). Also, loads of Pepperberry things with fixed waist which is always problematic for me.

Still searching ...

SnowWide · 11/09/2012 11:15

Never mind dresses, scarves are your best friend. Makes even more sense now autumn is here...both ends of the scarf dangling down on your chest with the middle bit wrapped around your neck. Brilliant camouflage for if you dont want your boobs to be too in-your-face!!

I can live in just white tops all week and just keep changing my scarves. Accessorize do some good ones...

Dollydowser · 11/09/2012 11:18

Agree with you on scarves, so long as they are not bulky. Even Trinny and Susannah say Skinny scarves for hourglasses are good. As I am always cold I am never without a scarf. A long chain with a pendant at the bottom works well too for me, not without the pendant though as the chain then just loops around one boob! I guess its another way of creating the deep V for a minimising effect.

HumphreyCobbler · 11/09/2012 11:22

Angels I am shocked by how rude your friends were. How dare they?

Sonotkylie · 11/09/2012 11:24

Just spotted jersey blazers at Land's End ... 20% off with code K71220PC. 2 button, various colours. They are normally a last resort for me for adult clothes (great for kids) but who knows? Interesting looking dresses too - v neck, jersey, fixed wrap ...

strictlycaballine · 11/09/2012 11:44

Thanks for tip. Are you looking at UK LE site SonotK?

Can only see these Not sure horizontal stripes would help my situation Grin

Have just ordered skinny scarf Dolly!! arf at chain looping around one boob .. I have an apron which which does that ...

Perry I love slash necks on others but makes me look like arthritic tortoise ...

Angel Agree with Humphrey not really worthy of term 'friend' if she speaks to you like that. I would shame her by telling her that you think she looks good whatever size she is and watch her cheeks burn.

Dollydowser · 11/09/2012 11:52

strictly on the LE site, how about this jumper over a shirt (think you said you like a collar?) the low neckline looks flattering, if the jumper is long enough in the body for you. I couldn't find the blazer either, Sonotkylie

strictlycaballine · 11/09/2012 12:29

oooh thanks Dolly thats exactly the sort of thing I'm after ...

PerryCombover · 11/09/2012 13:02

Pulled into the black hole that is the Landsend website.....send help

strictlycaballine · 11/09/2012 13:11
Grin
Corygal · 11/09/2012 13:42

I am short with bosoms that get on the bus three people before I do.

At this time of year I wear men's V neck jerseys with the sleeves pushed up, and always show wrists and ankles, because those little joints knock everything back into proportion, ie you don't look (as) fat.

Off the shoulder tops are good (vest underneath to hide lift cable straps) as are cowl and tie neck.

I am 44 and wondering if my bosom will acquire that stern, official look, as Hattie Jaques's embodied.
