If you haven't tried Botox and you are considering it.

Botox is really so amazing. If you have some angry lines Wink or some wrinkles around your eyes I cannot say enough how effective it is! It makes all that faffing around trying to find a miracle cream pointless.

You look younger, fresher and less tired, you CAN still emote.Grin Make up goes on better. You feel younger and more confident. Most of all, however, you dont catch a glimpse of yourself looking like your mother!

Oh, but you have amazing hair, runmumrun!

TheOwlsAreNotWhatTheySeem · 02/09/2012 19:36

Slight tangent, but do/ did any of you who get botox suffer from migraines?

I get hideous, hideous migraines and have heard recently about botox being an effective treatment for them.

runmumrun · 02/09/2012 19:54

Why thank you Owls

On a serious note, v g friend has regular botox for migraine, has made huge difference to her. What's better new is that the NHS has given it the go-ahead provided your GP agrees...Read here and Here

TheOwlsAreNotWhatTheySeem · 02/09/2012 20:06

Thanks for the links.

I wouldn't be able to get them on the NHS as (thankfully) I don't get them often enough to qualify... I suppose they have to stipulate you suffer from them that frequently so than not everyone over a certain age turns up and says 'Oh Dr., I have a headache... can I have some snake venom please?'

I'll just have to ask dh/ my parents if I can have Botox for Christmas. They will probably laugh, but there you go.

No you have to wait until you stop

ItsaTIARA · 02/09/2012 21:08

Oh it does sound great, and my 11's are awful, but it's just...."Botulism"....."Toxin".

And I know if anything went wrong DH would look at me Hmm "what part of toxin did you not understand?"

janji · 02/09/2012 21:12

Can Botox be used to perk up hooded eyelids? Anyone know what else (apart from surgery) can be done?

cybbo · 02/09/2012 21:12

It's a tiny amount. And it's used as a treatment for muscles affected by cerebral palsy and has been for ages . And it works !

Catandthecream · 02/09/2012 21:14

I've had it done probably about 6 times in 7 years (since I was 28) before and in between babies and breastfeeding. If you have fine lines rather than deep wrinkles it is fantastic though may take a couple of rounds to erase the lines if you are mid 30's. When I was 28 lines went almost straight away.

I've used expensive Harley St doctor (£280 2 areas 5 years ago), Botox 'party' doctor (£150 2 areas but crap in my opinion). Now I go to local NSC clinic and I think it was £240 for 2 areas on offer, I was very happy with the results and prefer to pay more to get a good doctor. Off for my top up next week! I get forehead and frown lines done.

MrsBucketxx · 02/09/2012 21:23

can i be cheeky and ask how old you where when you first had it done. i am 33 and i hate my forehead wrinkles already.

Charliefox · 02/09/2012 21:24

I was 35.

PacificDogwood · 02/09/2012 21:25

"Nothing says lack of confidence like botox does"

Quote from today's Sunday Times Grin

cybbo · 02/09/2012 21:25

It was this year, I'm 42. My lines only really started bugging me in the last 12 months

cybbo · 02/09/2012 21:26

That's a daft quote

Catandthecream · 02/09/2012 21:28

28

PacificDogwood · 02/09/2012 21:29

Wasn't me who said it.
Some ageing ex-supermodel.
I cannot be asked to get off my backside to actually find it, sorry.

I've had a horizontal line between my eyes since my early 20s, am now 46 and it just doesn't bother me terribly. Yet... Wink.

You ladies enjoy; I've seen some of my friends have fabulous results with botox. And with fillers, mind.
Apparently, below the eyes = fillers; above the eyes = botox. Does that sound right?

chibi · 02/09/2012 21:29

Can anyone recommend someone in London, preferably nw or west, or bucks/Berks

I hate my 11s. I am ok with crows feets and laugh lines but tbe 11s just make me look like some cross bitch :(

MrsBucketxx · 02/09/2012 21:31

is it obvious you have had it done. could you hide it say from your dh.

cybbo · 02/09/2012 21:33

Only a very observant friend noticed on me it's so subtle. Have had lots of compliments that I look good but havent let on!

winnybella · 02/09/2012 21:35

Can it be done so you don't end up looking like Nicole Kidman or Kylie?

I have lines on my cheeks, on the sides, from laughing (but not the nose to mouth lines iyswim). I'm only 32 but have thin, dry skin and smoking hasn't helped, either Hmm

What would you use? Fillers or botox?

SrirachaGirl · 02/09/2012 21:41

My Mom is really pretty and natural (think Helen Mirren or Judi Dench). I hope I look like her when I'm her age. How about just healthy living? Regular exercise, fresh air and sunshine, joy and good food? Botox makes me sad, although sometimes it's oh-so-tempting Smile.

cybbo · 02/09/2012 22:01

All those things are wonderful but they won't get rid of your wrinkles. It's personal choice what we decide to do isnt it

SweetFannyCraddock · 02/09/2012 22:16

cybbo, I agree that its up to choice. but in the same way that I look better without make up than with, some people just dont really care about looking a bit older.
