Reasonably priced moisturiser for beauty snob

AnastasiaSteele · 01/09/2012 14:22

I love moisturiser, tested out many. Used to use a chanel one that has been discontinued so now using a Lancôme one, but finding these brands costly - pointless using a good moisturiser if I have to scrimp on using it.

I need something moisturising ie not like Cliniques yellow one which I think is crap, but not greasy which I find Nivea soft to be.

Any recommendations gratefully received.

Hello,
I've recently discovered Liz Earle's Superskin Moisturiser - I love it. They do small (15ml I think) pots to try for about £13, which is lasting for longer than I expected. You don't need that much as it's quite rich but very light. It's advertised as being for mature or very dry skins, however I am 34 with relatively normal skin, I'd say, and I love it. A 50 ml jar is £36 it seems - not nearly as much as some of the other brands, though clearly not budget.

AnastasiaSteele · 01/09/2012 14:30

Might try that then- I'm willing to pay around the 30 mark, I'm finding the 50 mark ridiculous these days. I luff the hot polish cleanser by Liz Earle...

I really like this one Body Shop and have seen a huge difference in my skin, softer and brighter, would recommend.

shushpenfold · 01/09/2012 14:35

I use the Neals yard frankincense range...works beautifully....£30 a big pot I think.

CaptainHoratioWragge · 01/09/2012 14:38

I've found Iseree Moisturiser (from Lidl) almost identical to the Liz Earle stuff, which I used to buy religiously. I bought a pot on a whim when it won some which best buy thing, expecting it to be a bit grim, and i think it is brilliant. It is only a couple of pounds.

Have found a you tube video for you on it, but in classic You Tube Makeup Review fashion, it appears to be being reviewed by a 14 year old with perfect skin!

porkypine · 01/09/2012 19:23

any of the Super range by Dr Perricone. It all seems to be half price at the moment, so about £15ish.

googietheegg · 01/09/2012 20:14

I've tried everything (ended up throwing away the alleged 'dramatically different' one) and by far the best ive used is a sanctuary one from boots, in a White tube that comes in a box called something like 'brightening moisturiser' it's fab! And only about £10

cybbo · 01/09/2012 20:18

Apparently all the beauty journos rate Olay Regenerist

cybbo · 01/09/2012 20:19

The sanctuary micro brasion is AMAZING for blocked pores

captainhastings · 01/09/2012 20:24

I was also going to say Liz Earle

dexter73 · 01/09/2012 20:25

Olay regenerist is very good. I tried the LE superskin but found it very oily/greasy and didn't like it even though I have dry skin. It left my skin looking very shiny.

Iatemyskinnyperson · 01/09/2012 21:44

I'm liking the French brands. Caudalie, Nuxe, La Roche Posay.

Caudalie is the most 'luxurious' I think.

I have an oil slick for a t-zone so only use moisturiser under my eyes and down the sides

I use bravura hyalauronic serum to moisturise during day and glycolic gel stuff at night underneath it
I can never find anything on this site

googietheegg · 02/09/2012 03:37

choco which La Roche Posay moisturiser are you using? There's so many I never know what to choose.

crazybutterflylady · 02/09/2012 07:06

I always used to buy clarins/Chanel/Lancôme type stuff until the last time I ran out and tried the soap & glory 'for daily youth'. I love it, it gives my skin a good drink and it feels really healthy and glowy after I've applied it. Would definitely recommend giving it a go, it's only £10 ish in Boots.

Ooh Captain thanks for the Lidl Iseree tip!
I sometimes use La Roche Posay Toleriane Riche cream and quite like it (although my absolute fave is Eucerin 5% urea cream - miraculous product for flaky winter skin).

miche8 · 02/09/2012 10:33

i've moved on from liz earle to avene for daytime as it has spf, still like liz earle for night time. I have passed on to dh my chanel, clinque and lancome moisturisers as my skin has become sensitive and these sting.

wildfig · 02/09/2012 11:17

I've gone over to French pharmacy brands too, after my skin became much more sensitive and rosacea-prone a few years ago. (Also after an American friend told me her very expensive dermatologist had prescribed her a shelfload of Vichy/LRP products.) I use Avene Hydrance Riche during the day, as it has a SPF20, or the La Roche SPF30 sunscreen. At night, I'm using up my Liz Earle Skin Repair, with Superskin Concentrate underneath, or Emma Hardie Rejuvenating Night Cream, which was part of a TSV (smells nice but not sure I'm bowled over by it).

sweetunsweet · 02/09/2012 11:54

I love Avene products, but I am also a fan of Wella's rose day cream and some of the Neal's Yard Remedies moisturisers, all of which are quite reasonably priced.

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 02/09/2012 11:56

I love Dermalogica, but not cheap!

sleepdodger · 02/09/2012 12:00

After searching loads I've gone back to dermalogica active moisture expensive though less on beauty flash
Nothing else works for me in same way and found the cheaper options cost more in the experimenting

coffeeinbed · 02/09/2012 12:13

If you like Lancome try L'Oreal for a cheaper option.
Same labs, same research.
