Bra advice for extended BF

ObviouslyOblivious · 25/08/2012 07:23

I'm still feeding DS at 19 months but only 2 or 3 feeds a day. The bras that I bought at 12 months are definitely too big now (breasts have kind of.... melted into nothingness).

So I'm going to get a couple of new bras. Can I go for underwire now? Will their size/shape change when DS eventually stops feeding? If I go to get measured somewhere should I mention that I'm feeding?

Any advice gratefully received :)

Underwired feeding bras are great, I had teh Anita ones http://www.figleaves.com/uk/search/anita/#term=anita&dept=&category=&subcategory=&answerhandle=&searchhandle=&pageno=1&sort=8&pagesize=28&colours=&sizes=&brands=&maxprice=60&multioptions=DROP+CUP@cupshape~MATERNITY@maternity~UNDERWIRED@underwire~&deptcat=&minprice=10&islmin=10&islmax=60&fo=ItemTypes--MATERNITY~ItemTypes--UNDERWIRED~ItemTypes--DROP+CUP~&cups=&bra=&clothing=&cosmetics=&shoes=&mensclothing=&productid=&productcolour=&bboost=&gender=WOMENS&rating=undefined here. If you don't need to buy feeding bras any more (if your are only feeding at beginning and end of day, for example) normal underwire is fine. It's important that it fits you, so the wire sits flat against your body rather than digging into your breast, but so long as you get the right size, and replace it when you change size, it will be fine.

Sorry, Anita ones

i've always used anita undewired ones straight from birth (gone downa size oast the six month mark) and they've done four years'service.

they are so good they are better than my rigby and peller non feeding bras i was fitted for and i think i'd wear them if i wasn't feeding.

otchayaniye · 25/08/2012 08:12

bit jealous at the only 2-3 times a day. my first was feeding 10-20 times a day at 2 years and my one year old feed, oh, a grillion times last night and is currently now (i need a holiday in a flotation tank)

I wasn't counting overnight feeds Wink

Once DS got down to 2-3 feeds a day, I just wore normal underwired bras and pushed the cups down to feed him. I got fairly cheap M&S bras initially with cotton cups. Doesn't seem to have affected my milk as DS is still feeding (bedtime only) at 3.

I wore normal underwired bras past 1 year with DD3 (the only one I haven't been pg again with at 12m-ish!) and just slipped the strap off my shoulder to feed. I did make very sure that the underwire was outside my breast tissue and didn't dig in anywhere or pinch. For me the 2 pack of bras from Asda were a really good fit and very reasonably priced (especially in the sale!), I only got the plunge styles not the balconette styles for obvious reasons though Wink.

I wore normal bras from Bravissimo from 7 months. Made such a difference. People kept asking if I'd lost weight!

I second the Anita underwired ones. Never had any problems with feeding in them, and the support/shape is excellent. Iirc my only issue was that they didn't make small back sizes. But that was 2 years ago, it may have changed since.

Thank you all very much.
