Sequins

I have gone sequin crazy. I seem to fall for anything with bling.
Is it age or are these bits from Zara and again from Zara as lovely as I think?
I don't want to be one of those gilded-up women I remember from childhood, anyone know what I mean? All I said I would never be...Confused

lurking fellow sequin fan- I have that jumper in the gold. I love it!

BobbiFleckman · 24/08/2012 10:50

I really like the cardigan. Of course you need to work on the basis it can never be washed or cleaned and therefore will either end up smelling or being thrown away.

lurkingaround · 24/08/2012 10:58

Thank goodness I'm not the only one always, comfort in company, eh?!
Haven't seen the jumper irl, but love it on the site. Obv as lovely in the flesh. So that's a tick. How's the sizing? Or is it typical takes your chances Zara sizing?

Yes, unlikely to be washing the cardi, but it's just for show, rip it off as soon as you get home, don't eat pasta/sauce/babyfood/yogurt while wearing, eat/drink everything very carefully, sit beside careful people, stay away from cigarette smokers, I reckon it's nice enough to manage that? I was surprised at the sizing of the jumper. Not as tiny as Zara usually is- am an 8 and I took the small one. Usually I end up in medium there.

winefairy · 24/08/2012 14:53

Fellow sequin addict too and I love that cardigan/jacket you linked to, lurking. Well found!

I have been hankering after a nice sequin jacket forever. Bought this after seeing it on the 'Bum Look 40' blog but the waterfall front thing it has going on did nothing for me so sadly it had to go back. Wasn't even tempted now that it's further reduced.

Lovely jacket though so if any of you are less ample of bust than me and could cope with the draping I would recommend Grin

The sequin botherers' roll call grows still further, I love sequins, possibly to an unhealthy extent for a middle aged mother of 3. Today I am mostly wearing a grey pencil skirt with a slate grey Fenn Wright Manson chiffon shirt which has beautiful little greyish-blue sequins around the neckline ( TK Maxx, reduced from 99 quid to 24 ).

PlumSykes · 24/08/2012 15:42

This is happening to me too. See also lurex, gold shoes, leopard print. All things I would have dismissed as a bit 1970s dinner dance not so very long ago. Embrace it, I say!

PlumSykes · 24/08/2012 15:43

Thus far, however, am avoiding the mohair jumper and leather pants look. Thus far...

lurkingaround · 24/08/2012 15:50

Sequins ARE lovely!

winefairy, lovely jacket, and a bargain too! I have a lovely sequin clutch from zara too. I think their sequin stuff is ver nice indeed. Obv, not all worn together, at the same time. I am a grown-up. Grin

Sounds like a lovely blouse MrsArse, perfect colour for me too. Just need to muster the energy for TK.

plumskyes I get your style!!!!!!!

alwaysrunninginheels · 24/08/2012 15:55

Ha ha- but I am lusting after leather legging!!!!

lurkingaround · 24/08/2012 15:57

Grin at 1970's dinner dance! Love it.

Deffo 70s dinner dance style, minus the crimpelene. Can't do animal print though, I would resemble Bet Lynch circa 1973.

lurkingaround · 24/08/2012 16:11

I think leather pants and mohair sounds lovely. What is happening to me??

OP posts:
alwaysrunninginheels · 24/08/2012 16:19

And I have a lot of animal print!!!! Just wait til Dallas restarts- big shoulder pads everywhere.........

MsArseBiscuit · 24/08/2012 19:15

Perhaps it's some kind of recognised condition, I have to say that the 80s cured me of mohair, to be more specific the lemon yellow mohair jumper I knitted from a Woman's Own pattern in 1983 cured me of mohair.

MrsCampbellBlack · 24/08/2012 19:18

I find that often I look at myself in the mirror and think I'm wearing Dorain from Birds of a Feathers clothes. And I get worse the colder it gets - shimmer/sequins/leather/faux fur - oh yes baby Wink

MrsCampbellBlack · 24/08/2012 19:18

And the weird thing is that in my head I am pared down Carolyn Besset-Kennedy

alwaysrunninginheels · 24/08/2012 19:25

Oh I like a bit of fake fur too!!! Huge fake fur jacket in my wardrobe. Actually worn by Cheryl cole last year in some gossip mag which annoyed me as really she isn't my idea of a style icon! Now if I start back combing my hair again thats when I know I have passed over to the bet gilroy side of style! Grin

MsArseBiscuit · 24/08/2012 20:09

Oh I tried fake fur, and , as I'm short and have a substantial frontage, I looked less like Bianca Jagger and more like Boo Boo.

dexter73 · 24/08/2012 20:16

Can I join your sequin lovers club please?! Are we the anti-French chic brigade, all done up in sequins and feather boas!?

MsArseBiscuit · 24/08/2012 20:21

We may well be, Dexter, understated Parisienne chic is all a bit frickin dull, innit.

dexter73 · 24/08/2012 20:24

For sure!

MsArseBiscuit · 24/08/2012 20:30

High fives Dexter, gazes lovingly at sparkly clothing

PlumSykes · 24/08/2012 20:50

I stamp on those understated Frenchies with my leopard print heels. While applying fake tan.
