Anyone had a boob job? Need advice

I'm desperate for one! The skin on them has lost a lot of the elasticity and has a few stretch marks, would this look any better after a boob job?
Also, is it possible to just go one cup size higher? I average an A now but I don't want them much bigger than a generous B.
Once you have them do you just keep them for the rest of your life or do they need changing every few years?
How much do they cost? I'd be prepared to go to a v good surgeon, I've heard to many horror stories of cheap jobbies.

I know I'd obviously have to ask all this and more with a surgeon but just thought I'd check here first seeing as I can't make any life decisions without MN

Make an appointment with a clinic, you get a free consultation with most, I went to hospital group and Harley medical. Then will tell you what you need (augmentation or lift, or both) and the cost. They do payment plans too.
You don't get a cup size, they measure it in ccs of fluid. If they operate under the muscle the pain is worse and the recovery is longer, over the muscle seems to be a piece of cake. I haven't had mine done, still considering it.
My sister had hers done, just back to what was natural for her, and she says it's the best money she's ever spent.

swooosh · 21/08/2012 18:19

Augmentations these days will usually last the rest of your lifetime, most surgeons will offer at least a free consultation.

Pantone363 · 21/08/2012 18:19

I really want mine done. No exaggeration I look like a boy from the side, just two empty bits of skin (I was small before breatfeeding).

My DH had an affair last year and we divorced. I've been asked out but just can't do it. I am mortified at anyone seeing them. I would LOVE a small B as I was before.

TallDwarf · 21/08/2012 18:34

Do you think you would ever get one then pantone? That's shit about your XH, maybe that has knocked your confidence with them?
Mine were a AA cup before ds, then they ballooned to a FF and now back down to an A :( its elasticity thing that bothers me most I think.

Thanks perfect, I didn't know about the cc's of fluid.

I've had two done. Lucky me had the pip implants and got them removed and replaced last year. Definitely go for the free consultations. I saw a few surgeons before I found the right one for me. I had an uplift too. Five kids and breast feeding will do that to you though.
Couldn't be happier with the results though.

Be aware some companies go on the hard sell but it's how you feel about the surgeon that really counts. Mine was awesome!

TallDwarf · 21/08/2012 18:56

How do you know which are the good surgeons? I'm easily sold to, I'm scared I'll end up even worse than now!

How much did you pay for yours five? I just want a ballpark figure

My boobs have a job. They work as extra typists when I write on a keyboard.

Pantone363 · 21/08/2012 19:12

Yes I'd love them done. It truly would change my life. But I could never afford it.

I've already picked my surgeon! Grin. Google aurora clinics, the lead surgeon also has lots of you tube videos about breast enchantment.

greenhill · 21/08/2012 19:18

Thanks pretzeltime I nearly spat my coffee out.

I've got nothing to offer to the discussion, but have noticed lack of pertness due to breast feeding.

TallDwarf · 21/08/2012 19:19

Grin pretzeltime, I wish mine did!

learn to love yourself as you are

Fiveisenough · 21/08/2012 19:46

I paid 5000 for mine I had an uplift too. Most consultations you see 2 people the patient rep ie sales person and the actual sales person
Make sure they are realistic in what they can achieve. After seeing a few I found one I was really comfortable with I saw her work and knew she was honest not promising me the unachievable.

Fiveisenough · 21/08/2012 19:47

Meant to say actual surgeon. Sorry Blush

crackcrackcrak · 21/08/2012 20:00

I'm getting them done after dd2 has stopped feeding. I tried to love myself after dd1 and I'm sorry but if the choice is between depression and offending a few people by having a boob job then I can live with it!
I'm pg right now so they look quite normal but in between pg they looked shocking and I'm only 33.
I think I might as well go a bit bigger too so I'd be after a c cup in CCs or whatever Grin

PretzelTime · 21/08/2012 20:04

Apart from being able to type better, I truly do not understand how your life will be less depressing with implants on your chest. Boob job = End of sexy nipple fun timez. The sensation will be lost.

I do try hard to love myself. I'd love bigger lips/a better hairline/smaller bum etc but they don't bother me enough to undergo surgery to improve them. I hate them, always have and I think I always will, especially after I have another dc.

Eek, I would be very upset to lose nipple fun though! I don't think I will get them just yet, just thinking about my options. I will definitely get them after the next dc though

crackcrackcrak · 21/08/2012 20:35

Oh fgs - it's a small sacrifice. I'm not sure I could face sex at all with my post baby body. I wouldn't dream of ever advising someone to get a boob job, why is it ok to discourage?

Fiveisenough · 21/08/2012 20:49

I second StinkyPig. No loss of sensation here either. And I do like myself no more or less than I did before. Difference now my boobs don't constantly fall out of a bra as they were just skin before and I am more comfortable in clothes as well as naked.

Yes there are risks and that shouldn't be taken lightly but for me it was with it and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

LolaAnn · 21/08/2012 23:36

Pretty unlikely to loose nipple sensation if you have a good surgeon and go behind the muscle with a gel implant.

Krumbum · 21/08/2012 23:42

Here here songline! Don't risk your life for hotness.

midori1999 · 21/08/2012 23:48

Yes, I have had mine done twice (through choice/for cosmetic reasons and they will need to be done at least once more now due to complications.

In answer to your questions:

  • you can go bigger by as much or as little as you like, within reason, but cup size is never guaranteed.
  • Provided there are no problems or complications, modern implants are designed to last a lifetime. (note that your idea of a lifetime, may not be the implant companies, so do check!)
  • Expect to pay anything upwards of £4-7000.

My advice would be:

  • do not use any of the large clinics/cosmetic surgery companies
  • use a surgeon that is BAAPS and/or BAPRAS registered and also works within the NHS if possible
  • see at least two, preferably three or more surgeons for consultations.
  • make sure the surgeon you see specialises in breast surgery
  • expect to pay for a consultation, only the large companies usually offer this service for free
  • esnure the surgeons fully discuss all the risks and potential risks with you honestly
  • do your research thoroughly, then do some more.
  • be realistic about what results you expect.
midori1999 · 22/08/2012 07:12

Oh, and there shouldn't be any sales rep at all, most surgeons have a PA or receptionist who you will see in the way in/out, but otherwise you will be dealing with the surgeon only.

runamile · 22/08/2012 22:31

I have just had my second boob job. I had it done because my original ones looked awful in clothes eg I couldn't wear a t-shirt or remotely tight clothing so this affected my life day to day. There is no loss of sensation in the nipple area. I would say don't go too big - my first set made me look fat and frumpy in certain clothes (I am a size 6 so tiny but couldnt wear loose tops or high necks or even scoop necks.) Also you can look tarty if you have big breasts and a small waist which is ok if you are young and out on the town but less appropriate as you age.

JustTheRightAmountOfWrong · 23/08/2012 14:17

Totally agree with runamile.

Mine are a 34d which is just right for my frame (curvy but small build, size 8, 5ft 5). Anything bigger would make me look, and feel, dumpy, and as runamile said, tarty.

I'm on my second op (originals were pips) and though I had the opportunity to have them bigger second time around, I stuck with the original size, and I'm really pleased I did. You can also opt for a more natural shape so that you don't get that awful 'arch' that Victoria Beckham once had. Breast augmentation has really come on in the past few years.

Mine look and feel v real and I love them. And I have full nipple sensation.
