Without costing a fortune. I'd quite like to buy a couple of cardigans as presents. Is there such a place you can order them from?

lighthousekeeping · 19/08/2012 19:42

twofingers that is ADORABLE, just lovely, swoon

lighthousekeeping · 19/08/2012 19:45

I know I wonder how much it would cost to get knotted up. What's the best wool to use?

WoahNelly · 19/08/2012 19:46

I have seen them for sale by the WRVS in hospital (near the maternity unit)

ijordan121 · 19/08/2012 19:46

Can I second Hospital Friend shops? I have bought some lovely hand knits in them, and the prices are very reasonably, and the money goes to a good cause as well

twofingerstoGideon · 20/08/2012 14:07

I would knit that in Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino, which is lovely and soft (and washable). It takes 4 - 5 balls, judging by the finished projects on the website. An added bonus is that it comes in some great colours, which go well beyond the usual white, pink, blue and lemon...

(I don't agree with the poster who said babies won't look good in grey or caramel, needless to say Grin)

MrsMiniver has made you a great offer upthread! Go for it!

lighthousekeeping · 20/08/2012 14:29

I am Smile I'm really chuffed. Now I know nothing about knitting. I just need the wool pointed out to me and the amount. It will be something off that link as it willard things easier. My sister will be over the moon!

lighthousekeeping · 20/08/2012 17:36

krisskross · 20/08/2012 17:39

i love JL too. its a sign of age. Grin

lighthousekeeping · 20/08/2012 20:21

would you use cashmerino for both? one will be a newborn cardigan and the other more 3-6 months? theres not an awful lot of colours on the JL site, I may have to go in I will not be driving

OP posts:
krisskross · 20/08/2012 21:33

i think you can bbuy direct from debbie bliss website? not sure if its UK though.
i seem to remember cashmerino is nice and soft so nice for both. i used cotton DK from debbie bliss for my spectacular hats and bootees (pats self on back)

lighthousekeeping · 20/08/2012 21:44

oh, its all changed hasnt it? gone are the days of acrylic blue, pink or yellow Smile

MattDamonIsMyLover · 20/08/2012 22:05

Not at all. All present and correct in a hospital shop near you.

A cardigan will be used for a very, very small amount of time. Either too hot or gets puked on etc. A few photos and that's it. I'd wait to buy something like that for an older child when it can truly be one of her treasured items.
