I really don't need anymore make-up, but have bought quite a bit, thought fellow mumsnetters might like a review.........

\link{http://www.benefitcosmetics.com\all from the "benefit" range available in Boots}
I bought:
Lemon Aid - fab stuff which brightens up the eye area
Brow Lift - wow, this is brill - you draw a bit just beneath your brow, it acts as a highlighter, but very subtle, gives you a wide awake look
Brow Zings - lovely eyebrow defining and shaping kit, looks v natural
Dr Feelgood - This stuff "mattifies" the skin - you put it on with the little sponge, sort of gives the effect of foundation but it's v light and conditions the skin
Hollywood glo - sort of pinky glowy stuff which you can use alone or add to foundation or creamy blushers - makes your skin look more lively

Boots has an offer at the mo too - buy 2 benefit products and get 500 points on Boots card, so I bought 4 items in 2 separate transactions and got £10 on my card

Also bought a couple of No7 lipglosses (like Lancome juicy tubes - just as good IMO)

The Benefit under eye concealer in the pen format and also the No 7 ones are supposed to be as good I hear.

meggmoo · 09/03/2006 16:27

SEVEN STONE!
Wow and I thought I was doing well! Blush

bakedpotato · 09/03/2006 16:27

Hey, BeneFit experts: Dr Feelgood I haven't quite got the hang of. It feels really drying when I put it on (have dryish skin anyway). Am I doing it wrong? How are you meant to use it?
(Dallas powder, now that's on my wishlist)

chicagomum · 09/03/2006 16:27

WOuld love to try the sleep approach but dd seems to think the day starts at 4am these days.

meggmoo · 09/03/2006 16:28

BP I use it as I have naturally oily skin. I didn't think it was used on drier skins actually.

puff · 09/03/2006 16:32

bp, as it's a mattifier, I'm just going to use it on my t zone - I needed something, but not powder which I do find drying. I patted it on lightly with the sponge - centre of forehead, nose, chin.

chigagomum, clarins one is good, estee lauder one is crap. Tbh, would stick with ysl if youre happy with it.

vickiyumyum · 09/03/2006 16:42

chicagomum - the clarins under eye pen is really good,a s well as the dior one, both cheaper than ysl, but only by a couple of pounds, i agree the sleep thing sounds liek a better idea, but with 2 kids and another one the way think its going to have to be concealer! LOL!

puff - i really like the bad girl mascara (benefit), but it is more of an evening mascara than daytime, also its not waterproof, another good one is the lancome one. sorry can't remeber what it is called.

chicagomum · 09/03/2006 17:18

vickiyumyum Is it you with 2 and one on the way?

Vipenid · 09/03/2006 17:19

I find benefit a bit too 'novelty' for my liking

like the Benetint lip gloss though

Pollyanna · 09/03/2006 17:20

chicagomum I like the benefit under-eye concealer (I think it is called Boing?).

Finbar · 09/03/2006 17:27

I really like the new macara from Max factor - Masterpiece it's called - really good quality, goes on beautifully. Think it's on offer in Boots too.

puff · 09/03/2006 22:19

That's what I thought Vipenid (what have I missed re you being a VIP?), but having tried and buyed I'm converted. The only things I'm not sure about are the eyeshadows - maybe too sparkly for me.

vickiyumyum · 09/03/2006 23:26

chicagomum- yes thats me! must be mad, one week today until the arival of no3.

tracyk · 10/03/2006 10:20

dandelion powder is quite good too.

Piffle · 10/03/2006 10:23

agree lancome mascara is luscious mine is definicils and its the best I've ever tried (and thats saying something)
Also recommend the Dior aerated foundation for special occasions. Superb finish.

Piffle · 10/03/2006 10:24

Go to Mac for eyeshadows I defy you not to come out with 30 Grin
I have about 6 shades of brown on its own..

puff · 10/03/2006 10:57

yes agree re MAC eyeshadows and their blushers are superb too

I bought a Dior Ultimeyes mascara recently - it is excellent.

Benefit stuff is ace, but pricey.

freshstart · 10/03/2006 11:01

LOVE benefit

Hoola IMO is best bronzer ever

arfissimo · 10/03/2006 11:17

I used to fly through duty free every weekend for 3 years. I've bought every item of make-up from Chanel, Dior, YSL, Lancome etc duty free and Benefit is by far the best. Doesn't look as fab as the Chanel/Dior/YSL packaging but it is much better.

suzywong · 10/03/2006 11:33

I'm liking the benefit site

anyone tried Oh La Lift or EyeCon?

krabbiepatty · 10/03/2006 11:41

I have ooh la lift but it doesn't do it for me but that may be my intractable eye bags... High Beam is lovely.

krabbiepatty · 10/03/2006 11:44

Laura Mercier concealer very good for said intractable eye bags...

MrsBadger · 10/03/2006 12:02

I went to Debenhams a few weeks ago (late night opening), after all the annoying sales girls had gone home, so I messed about with the Benefit stuff to my heart's content.

Top picks were Lemon Aid for eyelids, Boi-ing under-eye concealer (worked much better for me than light-reflecting touche-eclat type), It Stick for nose-to-mouth wrinkles and Georgia and Hoola powders.

I have oily skin so am wary of shiny things, but High Beam is very nice if you're into it.
