Keratin treatment at home: my LIFE CHANGING success!

Oh happy day :)

I did the keratin at home treatment on Saturday last week, and washed it for the first time last night. Oh my godfathers - what an amazing result!

I used the kit from amazon (currently on at £28) and with my chin length/ cropped bob, I used half the jar. My bezzy mate helped me, and took great care to straighten it to within an inch of it's life. It looked amazing after application, but I was still sceptical about it remaining straight after washing.

Well, it is still straight. And smooth. And shiny. And pointy (got graduated length at the front). And it looks as if my highlights are brand new again, as the slinkiness shows up each separate strand of colour.

I am gobsmacked. Why didn't I discover this years ago? Love, love, love it.

GET IT.

Sounds fab, is it just for a straight effect or could you use it for wavy hair aswell?

VerityClinch · 19/07/2012 15:00

Oh, I liked you better with shit mum hair.

Like mine.

Wink

:) verity

Anybody can use it. My hair was a little bit wavy, but rough and frizzy more than anything else.

I doubt curly girls would get a poker straight result, but would def get massive reduction in frizz.

Oooo what is this about and do I need to try it on my disgustingly frizzy and dry mane? Does it give you shiney 'magazine' hair, the sort that I have never attained without a hairdresser?

KatieScarlett2833 · 19/07/2012 16:19

I'm on my 4th kit. It is amazing.

wellwisher · 19/07/2012 16:24

You can use the Tresemme Naturals one.

I like the Organix ones ordered online as the coconut smell is fab.

MorrisZapp · 19/07/2012 18:55

Does it give you magazine hair?

It does.

Check out the Amazon reviews. The organix coconut shampoo is fab, btw.

Boots stock the organix range.

So what will give that effect (the shiny, glossy etc etc) but not straight? I don't want mine straight, but I do want shiny.

popsnsqeeze · 19/07/2012 19:00

It says not suitable for mothers who are breastfeeding... And I was so happy before Sad
Does it make a difference that my daughter is a year old? Probably not right?! Are there any other products that do the same thing that are completely safe?

SuePurblybilt · 19/07/2012 19:03

And can one person do it to their own self? Even if that person is a bit gormless?

greenblue · 19/07/2012 19:18

Ooh I like shiny poker straight hair - but I also like beehives and backcombing it and stuff, will I still be able to get that kind of texture if I treat it with this stuff?

didldidi · 22/07/2012 14:09

When I had a keratin treatment done it was really hard to get any volume in as really was straight and flat. Was lovely and shiney though!

MrsSeanBean · 22/07/2012 14:25

It also looks like it doesn't contain Formaldehyde...? Unless this is listed under some other scientific name.

I have often wondered about having this kind of treatment, but am worried about using stuff with Formaldehyde in it.

SuePurblybilt · 22/07/2012 14:33

I looked at the ingredients and they looked fine but some of the amazon reviews say it contains something that is formaldehyde to all intents and purposes but has a different name.

oooh!

Victoria3012 · 27/07/2012 18:05

Thanks for this thread, I bought the home kit on Amazon. I have very very long frizzy hair, I've just finished using the kit. My hair actually feels like hair and I can run my fingers through it Smile.
I'm going to wash my hair on Monday, I hope it works.

LeB0F · 27/07/2012 18:49

What does it actually involve? My hairdresser is coming round next week, and I'm going out that night- if I ask her to do this, will it be good to go? Or will I be a gungy mess?

spanishring · 27/07/2012 18:56

It's a straightening defrizzing treatment. Perfect, I believe, for people who don't actually like their curls much. Though some people say their curls stay but become less frizzy and more manageable. Also it makes it shiny cos it's got keratin in.
I haven't had it done but know those who do.

Im not sure about going out- i think it prob looks nice straightaway after but for the next few days it cannot be touched so can get a bit greasy.

It takes a while to do this treatment though as your has has to be straightened over and over to lock in the keratin.

PoppyAmex · 27/07/2012 19:17

Ohh I did the Brazilian Blowout in Sydney 2 years ago and LOVED it, but then got pregnant, breastfed and now my hair is horrible!

Is it easy to do by yourself or do you need help?

LeB0F · 27/07/2012 19:39

As long as it's ok immediately afterwards, I might go for it then

LeB0F · 27/07/2012 19:43

I don't mind if it doesn't stay straight- I just want it manageable and more groomed-looking, especially in this heat. Thick curly hair and hot weather do not mix.
