Hi - looking for recommendations for shoes that NHS ward based staff wear.

I wear these.

Hideously unfashionable, but very comfortable.

My DP wears his ex-commando boots, but then he works in A&E, but he says they are very comfy and similar are available from Army & Navy stores if you want the extra ankle support!

I used to wear these on the wards, depending on if you could get away witht he patterend ones or not, if not then plain black.

they are very comfy and washable, so good for a job where you're on your feet all day.

i had these one in the pink flowers for wards and plain white ones for theatre. www.worldofclogs.com/acatalog/www_worldofclogs_com_Flexi_Clog_1.html

I wear black MBT trainers. I wear trousers with my uniform. A lot of staff wear them.

Msarsebiscuit · 12/07/2012 18:42

I wear Clarks black leather shoes similar to these sexy beasts www.clarks.co.uk/p/20343308 in order to comply with the uniform policy. Some of the female junior doctors go down the frankly astonishing ' high heeled party shoe ' route.

Brices · 12/07/2012 18:45

MBTs

Black fitflop trainers here... Sooo comfy.

ggirl · 12/07/2012 19:48

i have plantar fasciitis , I wear http://www.fitflop.co.uk/gogh-pro-black/invt/goghpro/ these fitflops technically they aren't allowed as the heel is not enclosed but I have got away with it for about 5 yrs now..btw I wear trousers.

ggirl · 12/07/2012 19:49

sorry

Another vote for Footglove. Very comfy plus they come in half sizes which is rare these days.

QueenCadbury · 12/07/2012 20:23

Hush puppies. The Mary Jane type style.

I wear crocs - the ballet pump style, not the clog style. Officially I don't think we are supposed to wear them as they don't cover the whole foot, but I'm not the only one who breaks the rules. I like them because when they get soaked (usually from helping someone in the shower, but occasionally with something less pleasant) I can just take them off and wash them in the sink! They are also very comfy.

IHeartKingThistle · 12/07/2012 20:42

My mum loves the crocs ballet pump ones with the strap across for the same reasons as hazel! They are also surprisingly cute Smile

swooosh · 12/07/2012 20:46

I used to wear the crocs ballet pumps years ago, although comfy they give off a hell of a lot of static. I was getting shocks off everything!

iliketea · 12/07/2012 21:46

I wear doc martens - most comfortable shoes i've ever worn from work. Bit pricey, but my last pair lasted 4 years before they gave up. I wear the mary jane style, makes me feel less utility, more feminine (as much as that matters at work!!).

HaveALittleFaith · 12/07/2012 21:59

Crocs and sling backs are banned where I work! I found Clarks with a 'cushioned sole' fantastic but for long lasting, hard wearing, comfortable shoes I would second the vote for Doc Martens.

ENormaSnob · 12/07/2012 22:16

Clarke all the way for me.

Not the old lady style though.
